A captain from Ithaca, NY and an American goalie. It doesn't get any better than that.

Well after the end of the first round what a disappointing Stanley Cup.

Most hockey fans I know said they have never been as uninterested since the end of the first round.

And no this is not just Canuck fans.

Agreed. It got really dull after the first couple rounds. Still, LA deserved it. They played really well.
Absolutely

Some good value there. Like the odds on LA repeating, Boston getting back to glory. Vancouver, Rangers, and Philly too. Washington is a nice long shot bet.

How are the Leafs, with no goalie, 35-1, with the Habs at 60-1? If there was a prop on the Habs finishing ahead of the Leafs, I'd bet that in a heartbeat. The faith people put in Brian Burke baffles me. Brian - tell Phil Kessel that Tyler Seguin and Dougie Hamilton say hi.

Ol' mustard fingers is going to ruin both Tinordi and Beaulieu before their careers even take off.His penchant for belittling rookies/young players while cowtowing to veterans/superstars is well known.Having a better record than the Leafs might be all you can shoot for.

I think Therrien is a transitionary coach. Guy Boucher, who has two years left on his contract in Tampa, will be the coach soon enough. Tinordi, Beaulieu, Gallagher, and others will get some time in Hamilton, with Sylvain Lefebvre who was a GREAT hire, and then Boucher will inherit them.

The NHL rejects the Bruins/Chris Kelly deal.
Deal should eventually be approved with a few tweaks.

Habs will announce Gerard Gallant as Assistant Coach to Michel Therrien on Friday.

Alec - looks like you're boy found his way to Montreal anyways. I'm happy.

Yup! I knew he had an interview just prior to the QMJHL draft last week, but in an interview with out Provincal Paper,he was pretty non commital on how it went.

With Beaulieu and a host of other Q players in camp this fall, his familiarity will be a strong assest. I like your idea of Therrien being a transitional coach,it would seem to make some sense of his hiring.

The Eastern Conference playoffs were pretty damn entertaining. The Rangers losing killed the momentum from a ratings standpoint. They were the story.

A Kings Championship is great for hockey. Season tickets are gone and they can't keep up with merchandise sales.

I think the league is in a good spot outside of Phoenix, Florida and New Jersey and all 3 got a lift from the playoffs. If it doesn't sustain then Quebec City, Seattle and Kansas City will be next up soon and we're good to go. Just don't fuck it up now with another game stoppage.

Developement camp starts on 6/29! Dougie Hamilton is up to 6'6. B's should be 5/1.

Tim Thomas has waived his no-trade clause not only about 9 days before it would expire anyways, but on the day of the draft.

Islanders and Avalanche are supposedly interested. They have to reach the cap floor and maybe he'll come out of the bunker at some point and play.

Draft going according to form so far. Thrilled the Habs have finally drafted a big, talented center: Alex Galchenyuk.

Some big names traded so far:

- Visnovsky to Islanders

- Ribeiro to Caps - he is a POS, but will put up big numbers in Washington I would think

Jordan Staal traded to the 'Canes to play with his brother.

I think your Pens did great here Alec. Staal is good, but a bit over rated IMO. To get a high first rounder back, plus Brandon Sutter, and be able to clear cap space is fantastic.

Ray Shero is a shrewd GM.

I'm not sure why the isles would be interested. Thety have a number 1 goalie and plenty of prospects, plus DP is looming and supposedly healthy.

His contract is cap friendly. Most of the teams asking need to reach the cap floor. Plus he's nutty and may decide to show up in which case Dipietro might be the most expensive janitor at the coliseum. Or you could trade him later in the year. And it's not going to take much to get him.
