City are beginning a dynasty. They have all the money in the world to keep winning. Man United will now be the 2nd club of Manchester. All good things come to an end.
I dunno, I think Chelsea have shown money can bring you so far. IF the FFP regulations have some balls to them I see City in some trouble. There was a big splash recently about City signing a contract with Nike, moving from Umbro. It doubled their yearly kit deal, but it was only for 12 million a year. United get 25 mil and that deal was signed about 10 years ago. City will find, just like Chelsea that there's only so far they can grow. Their wage bill is well over the top, just like Chelseas. The sheik has spent just under 1 billion pounds. All to finish above United on goal difference.
Exactly.
Same was said about Arsenal, then Chelsea.

Yeah, but the United teams that fought off those Arsenal and Chelsea squads had a much more solidified rosters . . . and Cristiano Ronoldo. This United roster has a bunch of question marks. They just signed Scholes for one more season, which instead of saying goodbye to their older players, they're keeping them on AND still need to sign players.
Milan is in the CL and they said goodbye to a bunch of legends.
It will be interesting to follow and compare both clubs in their domestic leagues and the CL to see which approach worked best. ManU will move a few players but with the physical style played in the EPL, the players they bring in may need an adjustment period. That's where Fergie needs to be smart. They don't have the luxury of letting their new additions blend in slowly.
Dude, did you watch United in 05-06? That was the worst Fergie led United since he took over. That squad was shite, and they were light years behind Mourinho's Chelsea. But Roman fucked it up and sacked Jose, while Fergie bounced back. I don't know whether the old bugger still has it in him, but seeing as he was in Germany the night before United's final league game checking out Bayern and Dortmund suggest the fire is still there.
I'll see what the transfer window brings before I pass judgement. I do agree this squad needs some work to challenge for the title next season. The Glazers tight grip on the purse strings is what will hamper Fergie the most. Even though he won't admit it.

Interesting what a United supporter considers as light years behind another team. They were in second place eight points behind Chelsea, only six points behind this years team. Crashing out of Europe didn't help your memory of that team, though. The 04-05 team took third with 77 points but advanced to the knockout rounds.
That's the point I was making that the EPL isn't as strong as it used to be. Either one of those teams would be "light years" ahead of the 2011-12 United squad.
Fuck, there was some shite in those 2 squads. Liam Miller, Kleberson, Bellion. Fuckin' awful. Vidic and Evra were signed in Jan. 06 so that was a sign of a turn around about to begin. I know City won 6-1 at Old Trafford this season, but back then Chelsea raped United a few times without the goals to back it up. Chelsea got a record 95 points that season United finished 3rd with 77, I'd say that's light years behind considering only goal difference separate United and City this year. The following year, the European campaign was worse than this years debacle finishing bottom of a weak group.
The plus points of those years were 2 cup finals. United battered Arsenal in the FA cup final in 05 but couldn't score.
Maybe you're right, back then maybe the whole league was stronger. Which means Uniteds opponents are weaker now also. It's an interesting time for sure.

Like World War II, Germany lost it more than anyone else won it. Robben should never start a final on any level. He choked in Africa in 2010 and again here today. He's the Chad Ochocinco of primetime matches.
Yeah, shitty match. These 2 are not the best 2 teams in Europe, although Bayern should have won at a canter with the chances they've missed. Roman has his cup, now he can fuck off and let Chelsea wallow again in their own filth. I didn't watch the trophy presentation but apparently John Terry had his kit on to go get it. Is there a more despicable human being in all of sports?
All in all, a shitty year for United fans. Spurs fans must be gutted now too. Only England glory in the Euros will lift my misery. Oh, and a bunch of big name signings at Old Trafford (not holding my breath).

I concur.
Don't care about England that much. Especially with Hodgson as manager.

I'm sure England will fuck it up, it's just that something has to go right this year footballing wise for me. I mean, King Kenny got sacked so now Liverpool might actually go get someone competent in charge. I wanted him to keep his job.
Anyways, been reading a few people say Roman might give up on Chelsea now they have the CL. I know I mentioned it above, but I think he's here to stay. The job is only partly done. They need a new stadium, and build more income. I don't think he will bail until the club is secure at the big boys table without the need for him to invest. Might never happen. Which means he's here to stay.

I was pretty optimistic about the Euros before, but seeing how half the German squad comes from a team so chickenshit they force their goal keeper and a discarded substitute into the most important penalties in club history, I'm seriously worried about the group stage. Gomez, Schweinsteiger and Kroos can stay the fuck home, they won't stop bawling in time anyway.
If the designated shooters shit their pants and refuse (read: suddenly get cramps and whatnot), there's not much the coach can do about it. But I think in shootouts like that it's always been more or less self-appointed anyway. During the game it's another story.
Looks like United have signed Shinji Kagawa who is an attacking midfielder. Heard a lot of good things, but never seen him play. Is he worth the hype? Good signing? Or more about the selling shirts in the Japanese market?

I haven't seen him either, but you don't play 2 seasons as a regular for the German champions and only be a shirt seller. From what I've read, he's the type of central attacking midfielder United have needed for a while. They also need a more standard type of central midfielder, someone like Modric. If Kagawa and then another midfielder are brought in, and that's Fergies business done this summer, I wouldn't be unhappy with that.
