WTF!!
3)A.J. pitched very well until he fucking "leaked" a ball over the plate to give up the lead.
Now to be fair the umpires, especially Reynolds, did try to help the Yankees win that game by not calling interference on Cano's HR and ruling Berkman's HR foul when it was clearly foul. At least replay fixed Berkman's foul ball.
Cano's "HR" that should have been reviewed:
Clearly interference. The guy should have been thrown out of the stadium.

I don't think your photo tells the entire story.
Their hands were reaching over the fence, but the ball landed beyond the fence.
Either way the call was very tough.
The HR call on Berkman was clearly the correct call (with the help of replay)
Again, how did the RF umpire miss the Berkman ball. Yes it was close, but that is why umpires are under fire-They are turning easy calls into difficult calls.
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Josh Hamilton had spooked the Yankees so much by Game 6, they threw the ball to the backstop when trying to issue him an intentional walk.
That's the kind of impact an MVP makes.
Hamilton is the most valuable player of the American League championship series after hitting four homers and driving in seven in the six-game series, leading the Texas Rangers to their first World Series appearance.
The tattooed slugger hit a three-run homer in his first at-bat in Game 1 and just kept hurting the Yankees -- expect when he was intentionally walked. New York gave him an intentional pass an ALCS-record five times, three on Friday night.
Being a lifelong Astros fan, I was kind of excited to see Berkman and Oswalt play each other in the WS, and for one of them to get a ring. Doesn't look like that's gonna happen now. I'm sort of rooting for the Giants, I've always liked Bruce Bochy, and I think iit would be great that they finally win a WS after Bonds is gone.

That was me too. I was torn because I really, really, really hate the Yankees, but Berkman is a class guy and I would have liked to see him get one. He doesn't have many chances left. He pulled his weight in the playoffs and earned the big payday somebody is gonna give him next year though, so good on him. I'm still pulling for the Phils. Roy O still has a shot.

Yeah, a lot of people here were hating on them for leaving but shit, they could have jumped ship a loooong time ago. Both of em are good guys, and I hope Roy does well if he gets to pitch in game 7.

There isn't a person on the planet I like enough that could get me to root for the Yankees if they played on that team. Including family members and close friends.
Conversely, there isn't a person on the planet I hate enough to root against them if they played for a team that was playing against the Yankees. Including Bin Laden and Ahmadinejad.

Evil has been vanquished yet again. But it probably means a $250M payroll next season.
No shit. Can you imagine who they'll go after this offseason ( aside from Cliff Lee )? We'll see a fucking epic spending spree. More so than 2009.
It would be hilarious if Cliff Lee decided not to sign there.

Word.
I have a hard time hating on Phil Hughes and Nick Swisher though. I think Theo's biggest fuck-up in '09 was not trading for Swisher, what ever it took. Get it done.
What a great day though. Too much Mexican food and margaritas ( if there is such a thing as too much ) prevented me from getting on here last nite to say "Fuck you NY".
In 2009 Twins catcher Joe Mauer hit 28 home runs en route to his first career American League MVP award. More than half of his 28 home runs came at home in the Metrodome. This season Mauer, a left-handed hitter, hit only one home run at home in the Twins' new ballpark, Target Field. The shortage of home runs wasn’t limited to left-handed hitters. Right-handed hitter Michael Cuddyer also saw his home run total slashed this season. After hitting 18 home runs at the Metrodome last year, Cuddyer only hit seven home runs at Target Field. Is the ballpark to blame for the power outage in Minnesota?
In the 2011 Bill James Handbook, we calculate park indices for a number of stats, including home runs, that isolate the effect of a ballpark – its dimensions, wall heights, etc. – in order to determine if a park favors the hitters or the pitchers/fielders. A park with an index of exactly 100 is neutral and can be said to have had no effect on that particular stat. An index above 100 means the ballpark favors that statistic. For example, if a park has a home run index of 120, it was 20% easier to hit home runs in that park than the rest of the parks in that team’s league.
Target Field’s park index for home runs in 2010 was 65. That means it was 35 percent harder to hit a home run in Minnesota last year than it was in an average park. That index is the lowest in all of baseball making Target Field the most difficult home run park in baseball last year. That would certainly help to explain the lack of home runs from power hitters like Mauer and Cuddyer, who play their 81 home games there.
One year’s worth of data isn’t enough to fully establish a park as a graveyard for home runs; the next few years will be critical to the establishment of the identity of Target Field. Here’s how Target Field compares to multi-year data for other parks.
Lowest Home Run Index 2008-2010
Ballpark Home Team Index
Target Field* Twins 65
PETCO Park Padres 78
Progressive Field Indians 80
Kauffman Stadium Royals 81
Busch Stadium Cardinals 82
Safeco Field Mariners 82
Alternatively, multi-year data suggests it is easier to hit a home run in these parks:
Highest Home Run Index 2008-2010
Ballpark Home Team Index
U.S. Cellular Field White Sox 135
Yankee Stadium** Yankees 134
Coors Field Rockies 124
Camden Yards Orioles 123
Great American Ballpark Reds 119
* = Data since 2010 ** = Data since 2009
For more on park indices, check out the 2011 Bill James Handbook. The book will be available November 1st and is available for pre-order at ACTASports.com.

I dislike the Yankees due to the way they are financially destroying baseball.
You're a Boston guy. Nuff said.
Texas kicked the shit out of the Yankees... really, NY shouldn't have won game 1. Although some of Girardi's decisions were curious... namely pitching/wasting Pettitte against Lee. Should have probably just conceded that game and maybe moved Pettitte up to pitch game 2 instead of Hughes, but what do I know.
Either way I have come to severely dislike the Phillies, couple that with the fact that the Giants bore the shit out of me, I don't like any NL teams, and the Rangers have knocked out my top 2 teams means I have to root for Texas in the World Series... even if their pitching still has me scratching my head as to why they're effective (aside from Cliff Lee, obviously). Colby Lewis? Tommy Hunter? Really?
I'm watching the Giants-Phillies game right now. I can't believe how bad these 6-9 hitters are. How the hell do you strike out looking with a runner in scoring position and only 1 out? I thought these NL guys were supposed to at least be fundamentally sound and protect the plate even if they can't hit for shit.
Manuel forgot how to manage in the NLCS as well, how many fucking times did he pass on sacrificing runners with bunts in this series? finally did it tonight, it didn't work but it was nice to see him do it. the other night with 0 outs and Werth on 2nd in a tie game with a good bunter like rollins and he lets them swing away?? wierd fucking series.
JakeYonkel wrote:Either way I have come to severely dislike the Phillies
just curious, Why have you come to hate the phils? I'm pretty objective about pointing out assholes on my fav team, but I have to say I can't think of any of their players who come off as pricks or anything except maybe Rollins with his predictions.
SkyDog112046 wrote:Rangers vs Giants. I'm looking forward to this series. I'm thinking Rangers in 6.
I had no care of who won the NL, but I've always liked Oswalt so I wouldn't have minded him getting in.
The way Texas has been playing. I'm thinking Rangers in 5. NL has homefield, and to counter Lincecum, there's Lee. Like Jake said said their pitching is suspect, but they've gotten it done.
SkyDog112046 wrote:Rangers vs Giants. I'm looking forward to this series. I'm thinking Rangers in 6.
Texas has the best hitter and best pitcher in the series. They have to be at least slightly favored. Why is Lincecum going in game 1 against Lee? I'd throw my worst guy against him.

Yeah, it almost seems like you have to just give that game away. That's Sabre-type thinking though, and would never be accepted by the team's FO, or the fan base. Could be hell of a pitching match-up though.
Lincecum's funky delivery vs. Lee's control. Wednesday can't get here fast enough. It's obvious that Texas is heavily favored, but with the "grit" that both team's have. I want this fucker to go 7. I don't think it will, but damnit....drag it out.
I look at this series and think the only way San Fran can win is to knock out Texas' starters early and get at their middle relief. But with the bottom half of their lineup being so anemic I don't think they can. Look at what Texas' rotation just did to NY, and then compare NY to SF. The Giants will have to be very patient at the plate, take a lot of pitches and try to manufacture some runs early to get at the Rangers bullpen and still that only works if they can limit the Rangers offense. They might get away with that once or twice but no way they do it four times.
Lincecum versus Lee has the potential to be a classic game. I'm stoked for this series, and yet I have no rooting interest in either team. I'm looking forward to Wednesday.
I think that's probably how it goes. Maybe San Fran wins one, but I think Texas takes it in 5 at the worst. I was listening to Serius baseball this morning and the guy was trying to find a way to hype the series. The best he could come up with was "Well, there's always that Bush vs. Pelosi thing"

I can't really even put my finger on it, honestly... Rollins' prediction was pretty arrogant (even if proven right) but other than that I don't like Werth or Ibanez, hate Burrell for the scrub he was with Tampa (even though he's not there anymore), and respect but dislike Halladay from his Toronto days. Honestly they've become the NL's version of the Yankees, maybe that's why I dislike them.

Dude, if by the NL's version, you mean that they're just extremely competitive. I'd agree. The difference is I don't see Philly buying every superstar every year.
Yeah yeah, Boston fan. Glass houses. It's just in that context I wouldn't put Philly in.
I do think the "fire" both teams have could make this a great series, even if Texas could sweep. You're better at this shit than I am. What's your prediction. For the most part your right on the money.
Like the Yankees in that it seems they've been 'in on' every big name FA the past few trade deadlines/offseasons, successfully with some - Halladay, Lee, Oswalt. I dunno, maybe I'm wrong.
As for a prediction? Shit, I'm honestly having a tough time figuring this one out. I don't know how the Giants have done it, really - the lineup has very little power, and the pitching was good, but not ridiculous. But the starters have stepped it up into another gear since the postseason started and all of a sudden scrubs like Cody Ross are hitting HRs.
Texas steamrolled the Yankees. But I just look at that pitching staff and like I said above wonder how the hell they're still in it. So this series is a huge toss-up for me.
My gut is leaning towards Texas in 6 or so. Lee is going to carve them up, and after watching Colby Lewis shut the Yankees down twice, I can't see how he won't fuck up the Giants, a FAR less patient lineup.
for me the 2010 baseball season is over.
i won't watch an inning of the world series.
still shocked the Yankees were outplayed in every way by the rangers.
for all the morons who think the Yankees should have "conceded" the game(s) when cliff lee was starting should be banned from these boards for lack of intelligence.
tell me which MLB team would concede a playoff game due to the opposing starting pitcher? ridiculous!
if not for the Yankees World Series victory last year, this loss would be 1,000 times harder to handle.

So you are not a baseball fan then. How could someone who likes baseball not be intrigued by a team making it's first appearance in the World Series after 50 years? And they are playing against a team that hasn't won a series in almost 60 years. Lincecum versus Lee could be a great matchup, and I think we'll see a lot of interesting strategy early on.
Do you only watch the World Series if NY is playing? I can understand not wanting to watch if you hate one of the teams playing or are sick of seeing the same teams playing (which is what NY vs Philly would have been to a lot of people) but this should be a enjoyable series.
