I was at the game tonight. Devils didn't win, but it was the most exciting game I can remember going to in a while!NeverSurrender wrote:Let's Go Isles!!

I doubt the Isles can get this many points giving up this many goals, but it's fun to watch, If Viz comes to the team and Nabby gets a little better, we have a playoff shot.Aerosmith87 wrote:I was at the game tonight. Short season; all inter-conference games. EVERYONE has a shot if they get and stay hot for a while.NeverSurrender wrote:I doubt the Isles can get this many points giving up this many goals, but it's fun to watch, If Viz comes to the team and Nabby gets a little better, we have a playoff shot.Aerosmith87 wrote:I was at the game tonight. The Isles need to try not to get depressed now that they're back in their home digs, as opposed to the luxury accomodations they have in the visitor's dressing rooms on the road.

Re: The official NHL thread
Shawn Thorton could be out 7-10 days with a concussion after the "fight" with John Scott last night.
Can't wait for the rematch. Don't want to see Chara get hurt but he's obviously the only guy that matches up with him as far as size.

Actually I think there are more goons this year than last or at least the same amount. Isles have Carrkner and Boulton. Although Carkner is an ok d-man.Kid-Wicked wrote:closest? him, thorton and colton orr are nothing but goons!pieceofme wrote:Nice to see Thornton get owned. I wouldn't be surprised if Thorton is done. I can't see Julien throwing him out there to take more punches. That was a TKO concussion after who knows how many hundreds of shots he's taken to the noggin over the years.
With the mounting lawsuits against the NFL and the troubling brain studies being released what seems like every other month, how can the league not ban fighting in the near future? I'm not anti-fighting by any means, but it seems inevitable at this point. The NHL will look more like the Olympic game by the next CBA. It's the massive elephant in the room that Bettman is afraid to face. The NHL doesn't have the deep pockets to withstand lawsuits like the NFL.

Ban fighting? Are you going to ban players running into each other? That causes more concussions than fighting. Don't be fooled by the media and lawyers.

Yep, and we are all hockey fans of all leagues. And you're in the major minority when it comes to banning fighting. The NHL will lose money if they ban fighting. More people aren't going to show up because it stops. The minor league barns would be almost empty.chungasrevenge wrote:Credibility? Good time with The Flyers last night:
Rob Zombie was at the game, gathering info for his movie on the Broad Street Bullies.
And the emergence of Tom Sestito...sniper!
"Sestito scored both his goals in nearly identical fashion, slipping soft backhands through the five-hole of Anders Lindback."
"I've got one [move]," Sestito said. "Hopefully no goalies catch on to that. I'm going to keep doing it until it stops working."
Awesome!

Also great seeing "Promqueen" getting KTFO by Rinaldo.

I so want the Hawks to get revenge on Torres tonight but don't want any suspensions with the shortened season. Maybe they can sign and activate Happy Gilmore to a one day contract.

Re: The official NHL thread
Multiple reports have the Bruins trading Tim Thomas to the Islanders.
Early reports say it is for a conditional 2nd round pick with no year specified at this time.
Edit - Pick is for the 14 or 15 season and the Bruins only receive the pick if Thomas plays 1 game for the Isles this season or they trade his rights.
He still plans to sit out this year.
