I keep forgetting we have a wrestling thread.

TNA hurts my head. We all remember what happened to WCW and how it happened. It's going to happen again.

WWE will have a good RAW, followed by two bad ones. Usually it has to do with Zack Ryder getting his ass kicked, that disappoints me :(

Anyone have the new Smackdown vs RAW game? It's mostly awesome. Having a lot of fun playing it, and will probably get more mileage out of it than 2010.

I finally got around to reading Mick Foley's "Have a Nice Day"

I remember buying it for my best friend 10 years ago. We were total nutso wrestling fans. God damn, wrestling used to be so much fun. After reading the book, I've popped on youtube watching old Cactus Jack clips and other assorted clips from the 90s.

The wrestlers' personalities these days are way too scripted to be remotely believable. Gone are the good old days, but like a sap, I'll still watch for 2 reasons: lack of anything else on that interests me at the same time, and the possibility it might get good again.

It's like being with a chick for a bunch of years, losing the love, but remembering the times at the beginning of the relationship that were exciting. The Dudeness is holding on for that loving feeling again

That belt is horrendous. It does look like the Divas title. LMFAO.

Of course if you swing from TNA's collective ballsack like a couple people around here *cough* then you might think it's cool.

I think it looks bush league...

It looks like something unique that Jeff Hardy/Matt Hardy would create. Jeff has a loyal fanbase and TNA should sell this belt on their site.

I currently enjoy TNA more than WWE but I also like ROH and other Promotions. The constant bashing of TNA by that LA guy is just pointless. Why continue to watch something that you think sucks? TNA could bring in Heyman, Brock Lesnar and Randy Orton and he'd still complain about it.

I watch both WWE and TNA, and am finally going to a ROH show next month, but it is very hard to watch TNA Impact. Starting a show with 30 minutes of talking? TNA was originally about showcasing young, talented wrestlers, mixed with a few veterans with varying degrees of fame (Ken Shamrock, Raven, Jeff Jarrett). Now it has a lot more WWE veterans, usually overshadowing the original guys.

It's clear to see that in 2010, Hogan and Bischoff think of themselves the same way they did in 1997. It worked, for a while, back then. But soon after that, people stopped caring and WWE ran away in the war.

AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Beer Money and Kaz all still have prime roles on the show. If all they featured were guys like MCMG and Generation ME then the ratings would be even worse.Yes the smart marks would love that but they will watch no matter what. You need Kurt Angle (who IMO is still the best in the business) Hulk Hogan , Ric Flair etc. to draw in the casual viewer. People bitch on and on about TNA's 1.2 rating but wrestling is not at the popularity level it was during the WCW/WWF/ECW era. TNA has come a long way in just 8 years if you think about it.

I have seen about ten ROH shows live and I am never disappointed. You could be seeing the next CM Punk, Samoa Joe, Bryan Danielson, etc. No matter how many guys they lose, ROH finds a way to create new stars. You should check out http://www.rohwrestling.com for all the latest.

I don't think a blanket statement on the young guys not drawing is the way to go. Not to mention, AJ Styles was just fine on his own. Even with Flair as his manager was OK. But now he's in the background of the Fortune group and has the TV title, when he was previously a heavyweight champion and one of their featured guys. Hogan does not have the drawing power he once did. He's a caricature of himself. He doesn't wrestle, he talks. I don't need to hear him talk anymore. I watched WCW from 1997 to the bitter end, I had enough of him talking. Three of the important figures from that era - Bischoff, Russo and Hogan, being involved in TNA now does not instill confidence in me that they will last long-term.

A 1.2 rating is nothing to brag about. WWE is pulling low to mid 3's, which is down for them. But TNA is not latching onto their audience, who otherwise has no wrestling to watch at that time. They need to latch onto some of that audience. It's a mix of young kids who identify more with the younger talents, and older people or parents of those kids who remember some of the old guys growing up. TNA can latch onto that audience if they do a better job featuring both types of talents, and not burying one to the other.

I'm fine with featuring both types of talent, but not shoving aside the original guys or squeezing them out, i.e. Christopher Daniels. If we stick with the logic that these establish talents are needed to draw interest and ratings, the former WWE and WCW guys are going to be around even longer after TNA sinks.

The only ROH guy I know is Colt Cabana (because he's hilarious on Twitter) and Christopher Daniels (him vs AJ vs Joe at a TNA house show was amazing).

Will Orlando become home for WWE's Hall of Fame?

November 11, 2010

If you've always longed to see Andre the Giant's size-24 boots or Rowdy Roddy Piper's kilt up close, you may be in luck.

Local leaders are quietly preparing a bid to bring the WWE Hall of Fame to Orlando. If successful, it would bring a new tourist stop filled with decades of memorabilia from the professional wrestling powerhouse.

It's not clear where the hall would be built or where the money to do it would come from, and World Wrestling Entertainment isn't talking. But WWE has solicited proposals for the project from an unknown number of cities, and that solicitation provides a few clues.

WWE executives aren't necessarily looking for a location that has a significant connection to wrestling. Putting the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y., limited the number of visitors because it's not near a big city or transportation hub, they pointed out. WWE wants a city that already draws a lot of domestic and international tourists.

That sounds a lot like Orlando, Mayor Buddy Dyer said.

"[We have] close to 50 million visitors a year," Dyer said. "I would think they would want to be in a destination city instead of somewhere you are only trying to draw locals."

WWE has a wide and dedicated fan base that doesn't much care whether the matches are real or whether there's really a vicious rivalry between Stone Cold Steve Austin and Triple H.

Its programming reaches more than 500 million homes in more than 145 countries. In 2008, when Orlando hosted WWE's premiere event — Wrestlemania — 75,000 fans packed the Citrus Bowl, most from out of town.

WWE inducts big names in wrestling into its hall of fame every year and collects memorabilia that diehard fans would love to see. That includes things like Triple H's throne, the Undertaker's trademark hat and gloves, Rey Mysterio's masks and The Rock's elbow pad.

But there's no building where those items can be displayed and the profit-savvy company can charge admission.

Aside from its hosting of Wrestlemania XXIV, Orlando has another connection that could help its bid. John Saboor helped persuade WWE to bring Wrestlemania here when he led the Central Florida Sports Commission.

He has since been hired by WWE as senior vice president of special events, but remains an Orlando booster; his office is downtown. Saboor couldn't be reached for comment.

"We've got some inside influence there, and that's a good thing," Orange County Mayor Rich Crotty said.

Saboor's successor, Sam Stark, is leading the effort to bring the Hall of Fame to Orlando on behalf of the Central Florida Sports Commission. Stark said proposals are due by the end of November, but he shared few details.

Dyer and Crotty said they didn't know the preferred site in Orlando, but both said the tourist-heavy International Drive area would be a natural location.

Likewise, the financial details aren't known. WWE seems to be looking for partners to shoulder at least part of the work — and expense.

"WWE is seeking public and/or private partners (may include local and state governmental entities, private-sector funding sources, etc.) to develop, fund and maintain what will be viewed as one of the premier halls of fame in the world of sports and entertainment," the company's solicitation says.

Both Orlando and Orange County have had multiple years of dismal budgets, and hotel taxes have already been tapped to expand the convention center and fund community venues, including the new Amway Center arena.

For now, WWE isn't saying.

"WWE is in the very preliminary stages of evaluating this opportunity, and we have nothing further to report at this time," a spokeswoman said.

An actual Hall of Fame building would be a windfall for the E.
It gives them an attractive place to hold the inductions, it would draw visitors all year, and I could see the city the Hall ends up in becoming the permanent location for WrestleMania.
Frankly, I'm surprised Vince hadn't thought of this already.

Mania will never be in just one city every year. I doubt the HOF inductions will be in Florida every year even if the pyhsical hall is there. Cities bid now to host Mania.

On Thursday's episode of TNA iMPACT!, Hulk Hogan presented Jeff Hardy with a new design of the TNA World Heavyweight Championship, dubbed the TNA Immortal Championship. The belt was custom made by Top Rope Belts and based on a painting by Hardy himself, which showcases his personal, professional and artistic styles. To view several detailed photos of the purple belt go to http://www.pwmania.com/specials/exclusi ... hp?gal=347

It has Jeff's face on it. That rules!
