Wow. My Jackets have somehow managed to win 5 straight and have climbed out of the cellar for the time being. They had 5 key players out today and still beat the Dead Wings.

Not that they are threatening playoffs, but this year has been fun - they have been in 17 1-goal games.

They have 3 first round picks next year, and they already fired Howson. The future is looking up.

Btw...this incident/video clip shows how to NOT prepare for/take a check and how not to step to Wayne "The Motherfucking Night Train" Simmonds.
I guess if you're going to try to start shit, you'd better be prepared first.

Also love that Weber got a 2 minute instigator penalty for going to the trouble of getting his ass kicked.

Well, I'm thinking it's pretty safe to say my Habs are going to go from worst to.... playoffs... in the East.

18-5-4 and looking damn good, and that's with Bourque. Diaz, and Prust out, and Carey Price only so-so lately.

Curious to see what Marc Bergevin has up his sleeve for the deadline.

Anyways, we can use another top draft choice.

Wish Brian Burke was around to deal us a young, scoring forward and second coming of Chris Pronger, for say - Tomas Plekanec!
Not turning out so bad it seems.

LOL - well the Habs did look REALLY bad in the opener (when I posted that), and the 6-0 stinker vs. the Leafs. I have to say that I thought the team wasn't as bad as they appeared last year, but at best I expected them to flirt with the 6-7-8 spots, and ultimately fall short. Contending for the division is so off the charts I don't know who would have forseen it.

Marc Bergevin is probably the executive of the year. Therrien can be a candidate for the Jack Adams, but he has a lot of good company with Carlyle, Maclean, Boudreau, and Quenville.

I'm not going to blame your feet on their defense giving up 12 goals in 120 minutes.

It's about time zones and minimizing travel. It was a real disadvantage for the Wings and BJs to have to play so many games out of their time zone. Travel is hard on the team, and costly, and it's harder for the fans back home to be interested when the road games on TV start late.

There were some eyebrows raised with the Florida teams being lumped with the current Northeast Division and Detroit, but that's all about helping the gate in Florida. You can be sure Montreal, Toronto, Boston, and Detroit will be visiting Florida from Dec - Feb, when the snowbirds are vacationing there.

My only worry is where does Quebec city fit in? You can easily slot two teams in the West (Seattle?), but bringing in teams in the East would take more realignment.

Yeah I understand the reasons why. And having four out of the original six teams in Florida's division will certainly help attendance. I'm pretty sure the owners asked for it! I recall seeing a Panthers Bruins game a couple of years ago and the place was at least 90% full.

Also you forgot about one of the key teams in regards to why this has happened - the Jets

This whole 16 teams in the East and 14 teams in the West sucks though. You're right it gives the option for Seattle to have a team. And yeah it really does seem that there will another realignment in a couple of years time. Hey maybe Quebec will get the Panthers team instead :(

What bait? The fact that the Flyers haven't done shit in 38 years, and they aren't going to do shit anytime soon. 1975, 1975, 1975.

1975, 1975, 1975...yep, well aware.

But to clarify for ya...

"The Flyers' all-time points percentage of .579 (as of the end of the 2011–12 season) is the second best in the NHL, behind only the Montreal Canadiens' .588 points percentage. Additionally, the Flyers have the most appearances in the league semi-finals (known as the conference finals since the 1981–82 season) out of all 24 expansion teams (16 appearances, winning eight), and they are tied with the St. Louis Blues for the most playoff appearances out of all expansion teams (36 out of 44 seasons.)"

Season GP W L OTL Pts GF GA Finish Playoffs
2007–08 82 42 29 11 95 248 233 4th, Atlantic Lost in Conference Finals, 1–4 (Penguins)
2008–09 82 44 27 11 99 264 238 3rd, Atlantic Lost in Conference Quarterfinals, 2–4 (Penguins)
2009–10 82 41 35 6 88 235 225 3rd, Atlantic Lost in Finals, 2–4 (Blackhawks)
2010–11 82 47 23 12 106 259 223 1st, Atlantic Lost in Conference Semifinals, 0–4 (Bruins)
2011–12 82 47 26 9 103 264 232 3rd, Atlantic Lost in Conference Semifinals, 1–4 (Devils)

Might not be winning the big one, but it sure as shit ain't a dog show every year.

Thank you Wikipedia.
