be funny if Ottawa & Minnesota both don't make the playoffs after looking pretty solid to make them all season long

If this were a regular 82 game schedule, vs 48, you would probably see a lot of teams with surprising fast starts, and injuries, fade, and others right themselves. The standings look downright odd this year.Mazerati wrote:be funny if Ottawa & Minnesota both don't make the playoffs after looking pretty solid to make them all season long

Not my team, they didn't have a fast start, like usual. But they are having a hell of an ending.
I think the biggest key was sending Dipietro to the minors. They have played great ever since.

Yeah, like the Ducks finishing 2nd in the west. Can't wait to see them get waxed in the playoffs.

Honestly, I think the Flyers would have gelled by the end of a regular full season...if they could have straightened out that defense and beat the injury bug.

My point exactly. This is one of those seasons we see the changing of the guard if you will.

Clinchers tonight:
New York Islanders — If they beat Carolina and the Jets lose to Washington in any fashion. Or, if they get a point versus the Hurricanes and the Jets lose in regulation.
New York Rangers — If they beat Florida and the Jets lose in regulation.
Washington Capitals — If they beat the Jets in regulation or overtime, they’ll win the Southeast Division.
San Jose Sharks — If they get a point against the Stars.
St. Louis Blues — If they get a point against the Avs.

They seriously underperformed last year, so them finishing so high isn't a huge surprise imo. However, I reckon they will get knocked out first round.EatTheGlass wrote:WOLF wrote:If this were a regular 82 game schedule, vs 48, you would probably see a lot of teams with surprising fast starts, and injuries, fade, and others right themselves. Julien should be icing the Providence team at this point. Give the B's a week off. They're painful to watch. Outside of Jagr and Soderberg. Chara looks like he forgot to put on his skates.

Friggin' Bruins and Habs are playing hot potato with the division!!! "You take it", "no, you take it".... at this rate Toronto will take it!chungasrevenge wrote:Julien should be icing the Providence team at this point. Give the B's a week off. Rangers, Isles, Sens, Leafs - I really don't see a matchup that would work for the Habs in round 1, the way they are playing now - MAYBE the Sens. Then again, the Habs/Bruins could finish 4/5 if they both lose out!

He(Chara) had a sweet goal last night from a tough angle. True,it was in his own net, but that's a minor detail.

He needs to get out of his head and start having fun playing hockey. Having said that, he's getting no support. From the game after the Habs clinched, they've showed ZERO intensity. The kids are playing hard, that's it. Team needs a wake up call, because they are not good enough to just turn it on in the playoffs.Mazerati wrote:WOLF wrote:Friggin' Bruins and Habs are playing hot potato with the division!!! Series has been REALLY chippy. I'm going to game 6 on Sunday night.alecjonsludge wrote:Huge dust up between Blainville-Boisbriand and Baie Comeau tonight in their QMJHL semi-finals series.

Also of note is Stefan Matteau, Devils first round pick and son of the Assistant Coach (ex-Ranger Stephane Matteau), quitting, or being booted off, the team. He was pissed about being benched for taking some bad penalties in game 2, one of which led to the game winning goal by Baie-Comeau. Kid took the fan bus for the long ride home.
IMO the kid is a spoiled brat. I've seen him live a lot this year, and he looks let a 3rd liner in the Q, not a NHL 1st rounder. Big time sense of entitlement. I wasn't surprised that he was cut from the US gold medal winning World Junior team, and shocked he made the Devils out of camp, though I suspect that was more about exposing him to professionals for a while, before sending him back to Junior.
Anyways - I don't see anyone rivaling Halifax in the Q, though they have been taken to OT their last two games.

Re: The official NHL thread
Only in the Q. BOTH goalies from BOTH teams have been suspended for a game, so game 5 will feature 3rd string goalie vs 3rd string goalie. Also, both coaches have been suspended two games, and several players from each side will miss one.WOLF wrote:Series has been REALLY chippy. Jackets win again. I will be sooo pissed if they run this gauntlet and still don't make it. Or lose out on some bassackward tiebreak rule.
Minny has 2 games left against weak teams, and Detroit has Dallas.
I'll be there on Saturday to watch us take on the Preds.

man it would be a shame because they have played great hockey for so long now and i think they could do well in the playoffs..but the LA Kings losing to Detroit and Minnesota the other night really messed them upFrett_Bored wrote:Jackets win again. and then tonight Nashville uses Chris Mason instead of Rinne! against Detroit wtf
i still think Minnesota isn't much and will lose to either Colorado or Edmonton
and Dallas has a shot at home against Detroit..it will be very interesting
