The Bruins owe Tuuka Rask a lot. He saved them in that first period.

I can't help it! I want to talk to someone during the game. Having said that, I realize that I jinxed them. I've done it to the Cubs my entire life, too...
sigh.

Re: The official NHL thread
Looks like if the prospective owners of the Coyotes can't make a deal with the city of Glendale by July 2, the franchise is moving to Seattle.
CBC has reported a buyer is in place and the Canucks weren't allowed to put their AHL team in Seattle, as it was being "held" for the Coyotes.
I kind of figured Quebec City was out of the picture once Patrick Roy took the Avalanche coaching job, and the NHL realigned with 16 teams in the East and 14 in the West.
Hope this happens. Phoenix is richly undeserving and Seattle has had success with the junior franchise and would have a natural rivalry with Vancouver.

This is awesome news. As you said a great rivalry with the Canucks. And I'll be able to see a couple of Panthers away games!WOLF wrote:Looks like if the prospective owners of the Coyotes can't make a deal with the city of Glendale by July 2, the franchise is moving to Seattle.

Re: The official NHL thread
They're doing the same thing NFL did when they first showed football on Thirsdays. People got pissed, called their providers and now everyone has that channel . It's only game 2 and 3 so you couldn't have missed a clincher . Brilliant marketing strategy to me. I bet they double their subscribers next year.ArielPlath wrote:^^^ Isn't it on NBC?

The 16/14 spit is the key.Playing for 2 or 3 years out of the Tacoma Dome isn't exactly what the NHL would like to do, but they'll do so if it solves the current fiasco in Glendale.
It is a forgone conclusion. For the first time ever, Bill Daly has alluded to the fact that it isn't working in the desert and can't continue as it is. The City of Glendale is not going to stroke a huge check to a billionaire to run a sports team full of millionaires while at the same time closing their police departments on weekends to save money,as they are already doing.
As well, the NHL sees Quebec City as a prime expansion location. They'd rather get all the pie from an expansion fee than a few crumbs from a team that relocates.

But if this move does go through it doesn't change this though. Both Phoenix and Seattle are in the west. Obviously.WOLF wrote:Looks like if the prospective owners of the Coyotes can't make a deal with the city of Glendale by July 2, the franchise is moving to Seattle.

Re: The official NHL thread
Which is fine. If they moved to Quebec City you would have 17 in the East and 13 in the West, which simply could not happen. I think the realignment happened with the league knowing that if Phoenix fell by the wayside, Seattle would be the choice, and outside of a few building availability switches, they could use almost the same schedule.pieceofme wrote:But if this move does go through it doesn't change this though. Re: The official NHL thread
... but could the NJ Devils move to Quebec City?
From tsn.ca:
A missed interest payment could threaten the future of the Devils in New Jersey, according to a New York Post report.
The Post's Josh Kosman reported Monday that April's missed payment – six months after owner Jeff Vanderbeek restructured the team's nearly $170 million worth of debt – is the latest financial pitfall to hinder the franchise.
Vanderbeek made a deal to refinance the team's debt and buy out his partners at the end of 2012 in an effort to stabilize the Devils' finances. The agreement combined the debt of the team with that of Devils Arena Entertainment, the operator of the Prudential Center.
That deal required Vanderbeek to make an interest payment of nearly $3 million, according to the Post, which Vanderbeek was unable to do in April. The missed payment now puts Vanderbeek at risk of defaulting on the loan.
The Devils are reportedly seeking up to $20 million from the sale of a minority stake in the team in an effort to have the team's financial issues resolved by this summer.
The New York Post reports that the NHL has twice aided the Devils over the past year, accounting for roughly $30 million in loans, and advances in licensing and other shared revenues.
New Jersey reportedly suffered due to the lockout, losing sponsorship and attendance money over the course of the 2012 NHL lockout and was further hit by the team's inability to make the playoffs in the 2012-13 season.

Not very proud of the Blackhawks behavior with ten seconds left in the game. Boston won this one going away. They're the better team .

If the Blackhawks defensemen can't find a way to keep the Bruins forwards from carrying the pick into the zone this easily they won't win another game.John Simon Ritchie wrote:It's all over after tonight.

Toews and company need to stop trying to win the Selke and play an uptempo game. Like they did in the first period in game #2.Anne_Thrax wrote:God we suck on the power play.
I'll never understand why teams try and play Boston's game. Play your own game! Queneville should be showing them video of what they did right all season, not showing them video of what Boston does.
Having said that, if Chicago's stars are banged up, there's no worse team for them to be facing.
Also, Boston's role players have been fantastic.

Yes. Yes they do. They spend way too much time looking for the perfect shot when they should just be shooting. Good things happen on rebounds assholes.Anne_Thrax wrote:God we suck on the power play.
