Meathead, my friend has been in Chicago working. He said the first thing he did when he saw Soldier Field was call our Bear's fan friend and rag him for it.
I have a feeling watching Rex Ryan this season will be like seeing a 4-month autopsy on a man who is still alive.

He had a good run - like Herm Edwards before him - but I don't think anybody really thought this was gonna last in the long run.

The Seahawks treated that game against Denver like it mattered. Goober Manning was running for his life.

I went to the Bears Preseason game tonight. I know preseason sucks but what the hell.

Bears looked ok. Of course they have no backup QB so once Cutler gets hurt you are screwed again. Chargers looked awful.

That stadium of yours if fucking bizarre. Looks like an ugly glass spaceship crashed on top of an old college stadium. But hey I guess you had to cram that wall of luxury suites in there somewhere.
I thought the same thing when I was there last year. It's exactly like you described it - a spaceship crashing into a circa 1930s college stadium. Would still love to see a game there though.

Philly is in for a rough year.

I wasn't sure until I heard Gruden going on and on about the fabulous Chip Kellly college offense and how the NFL has never seen anything like it.

NFL had never seen anything like Steve Spurrier either.

Never understood the hype for Gruden the announcer. In fact, I haven't "enjoyed" MFL since they broke up the trio of Micheals/Deirdorf/Gifford. It was still an event then. Now it's just the boring end of the week game that is maybe, just maybe, better than whatever else is on.

Callahan would have never been SB runner up without Grudens team. Think about the Raiders before and after Gruden. He's a good coach.

They didn't slow it down, but sure looks like he came in there head down and head first.

Edited to add, I still think the lawyers are now running the NFL. It is only a matter of time before it's a complete shadow of it's former self.

The reason I even asked is at NFL.com it was featured on their site with the headline of 'Spectacular Hit' for 2 goddamn days. Pick a lane NFL. Was it spectacular or illegal?

Football is going to suck if the outlaw tackling. 21k is a material amount of dough for a rookie 2nd round pick. He's going to make 23K a week once the season starts. That seems like a lot of dough to me, but how long does a 2nd round pick's career last in the NFL?

So his base salary is about 400K. After giving uncle sam half of that. He makes 200K. Don't forget about his agent's 10%. 160K is not that much money in Chicago. Now he's going to risk his career for 139K.

It's a douche move to pull on a rookie. Especially after glorifying it on your own website for two days.

John, I've been taking about this shit for awhile all while meathead has been laughing at me. Maybe he didn't watch football 30 years ago, but this shit is a shadow of it's former self.

We are going to be seeing more and more horrific knee injuries with guys diving at players legs because they are afraid to get fined for going high. They are pussifying the game and driving hardcore fans out and replacing them with middle aged women. It's run by lawyers now. You mine as well hang it up.

We went from smashmouth running football to pitch and catch and almost two hand touch. And it's going to get worse.

If I didn't love the Vikes, I'd be running from these corporate fucks.

I'm laughing at you because your constant rants on this subject completely ignore the fact that for 75 years, the "corporate fucks" at the NFL showed a complete disregard for player safety in the name of the profits, which is why great players like Alex Karras and Mike Webster spent the last years of their lives drooling on a couch. Well, I'm laughing at you for dozens of other reasons, but let's keep to this one particular subject.

At this point, their decades of negligence has forced the pendulum to swing in the other direction. They have opened themselves up to such financial liability with this that they have no choice.

In the 1980s, players like Jim McMahon suffered concussions and were cleared to play a quarter later. It's ridiculous that this was allowed to happen.

If it's gonna take another couple years of going so extreme in the other direction that fat guys watching on TV (I'm looking in your direction) get their panties in a bunch, so be it.

The NFL made its bed with this situation, and now they - and all of us - have to lie in it.

"I can't stop watching because I love the Vikings" is a pretty pathetic excuse. Stop fucking watching - and stop fucking bitching - if the game has become unacceptable to you. Would be better for all of us.

You either like watching pro football or you don't. Stop being such a fucking pussy and take a stand.

Your refusal to stop watching the NFL stands completely at odds with your retarded assertion that the crackdown on head injuries has driven even ONE single "hardcore fan out of the game."

How do you not feel silly typing stuff like that?

Well, you're not laughing at me for arguing about something for 4 pages then posting pics to prove me right. That's me laughing at you.

And how I have I ignored what they did for 75 years? I bet they had very few concussions 75 years ago with those helmets they wore. I bet they weren't launching their heads at each other them ey?

Never ever have I said that how they acted was right all these years. They had doctor lying for them and everything. And that shit is wrong.

And you're absolutely right about how they ignored it, and that makes it even worse, now that they pretend to care about it. Which of course goes back to the original point. The lawyers now run the show so the NFL can pretend like they give a fuck. Just because I never brought it up doesn't mean I thought it was right. Only in your world. At least after John's post you can stfu about being the only one complaining about this.

So your point about teh NFL's hypocrisy only helps my point out, doesn't debunk it.

Haha, you're an asshole communist.

My point about you being a spineless pussy for refusing to boycott a game you claim you've come to hate - because you are "such a Vikings fan" -remains.

You are entitled to your an opinion that head injuries are good for the game (kidding, kidding). But when you say things like "The NFL is driving away its hardcore fans!" you simply make yourself look like a moron.

It's just not true. Not a single "hardcore NFL fan" has quit being an NFL fan because they are throwing more personal foul flags these days.

Ha ha, you are a spineless pussy.

And when did I say you are "the only one complaining about this?" I'm sick of you inventing things that I never said, and then posting them to prove you are "right" on a point that is not valid.

I said the NFL is more successful than ever, and the recent rule changes have done nothing to affect that. I'm right.

Whatever you say meathead. You also told me Howard quit, not pushed out, and the people of Boston wouldn't trade security for liberty. Not to mention you thought p13 would be back anytime after hookergate. Add to that you're a communist.

We see how wrong you are all the time, why would I care what you think?
