Never counted Manning out. 17-0 in the 2nd isn't shit to him. He and Reggie Wayne can turn anything around once they get on the same page. In OT after winning the toss, I figure Manning would move it down the field as easily as he did in the last scoring drive and Viniteri would get a chip shot.

Two surprises to me in this game;
Manning throwing so many interceptions and not even being hurried
The Cowboys under a new coach are playing like a playoff bound team even though they are out of it.

Oh and...6 & 6

It's the refs fault. When the Colt defender jumped up on top of another player and put up his hand to try to block Dallas' field goal attempt the refs called a penalty. Even though it really was a penalty the refs should know better than to call anything against the Colts. They had already called 2 other penalties on Indy and only 5 on Dallas. The refs are so out to get the Colts it's not even funny.

SkyDog112046 wrote:Lets take a nice look at the Colts playoff picture on the road back to the Superbowl.

They are 6-6, on game behind Jax @ 7-5 with Jax currently owning the head to head and conference tiebreakers.

They will be 2 games behind whoever loses the Pitt vs Balt game tonight for the 6th seed and 3 games behind whoever loses the NYJ vs NE game tomorrow night for the 5th seed. So the wild card is most likely not going to happen.

If they do manage to overtake Jax for the division they are currently 2 games behind KC for the 3rd seed.

So basically they need to take 3 out of 4 with one of those games being a must win against Jax to at least even out the first tiebreaker and then 2 of the remaining games being against TN that they have to win to catch up on the divisional record.

So unless the Jags stumble down the stretch it looks like the Colts road to the Superbowl goes through a ticket agency.
Playoffs? Don't talk about playoffs. Are you kidding me? Playoffs? I'm just hoping we can win a game, another game.

In all seriousness, that was a heartbreaking loss. I don't remember ever feeling this bad after a regular season game, ever. It is devastating. I truly thought we would win this game. The ball just isn't bouncing our way, literally, like it has in the past. Peyton is trying to do to much. He is the only reason we were even in that game to begin with, but he also has to remember how to throw the ball away when it isn't there. It's almost impossible to come back when you have that many turnovers, especially pick sixes. The fact that we almost won really is a testament to our heart and will to win.

My only consolation now is the fact that we still control our own destiny. Win out and we win the division and make the playoffs, period. All of our remaining four games are very winnable games against teams that we can beat. We should get some players back along the way. But we have to play better, period, if we are going to do that. This thursday is an absolute must win game. It's sad that it's come to this, but that's the situation.

How did the team react after you told them that in the locker room after the game?

No they don't. If Indy wins outright and Jax goes 3-1 the two teams would be tied with a 10-6 record and both be 4-2 in the division and 8-4 in the conference. So it would come down to common opponents which I think would be the same too and it would go on to strength of victory which can't be determined until all teams have played out their schedules. So the teams would be looking at the 5th & 6th tiebreakers which all depend on what other teams do so neither one would control their own destiny at that point.

So really Indy has to hope that they win out while the Jaguars go 2-2. And in reality if the Jaguars beat the Colts in 2 weeks the Indy is done.

Wrong. We will own the common opponents tiebraker. Look it up before you talk shit, boy.

So that's where Indy is right now. After losing 3 straight games in which they couldn't run or stop the run and Manning has looked as bad as he has since the day he was drafter you are hanging your hopes on tiebreaker #3 to get the #4 seed. Wow, times are good!

And for the record, I said I thought the common opponents tiebreaker would also be a tie but I'm not about to sit here and run down hypothetical finishes to work out all the tiebreakers with 4 games left. Especially since right now the most important ones are H2H and Div and Jax owns both of them.

The big question is do the Colts still give "Golden Boy" the largest contract in NFL history as stated by the team owner? Or...do they just keep franchinsing him from year to year. Assuming that the Franchise Tag doesn't go away in the next CBA.

Bill Polian has been very smart in assembling this team. I can't imagine them ever not giving Manning the huge contract, but it is something they have to consider.

What a sickening loss.

I missed the game, which sucks since I've grown to love watching the Colts lose so much... ah, well.

Yeah, all they gotta do is win all four of their last games. About half the teams in the league "control their own destiny" by that criteria.

Do you realize how hard it is for a team playing like shit to win 4 straight?

The Colts don't control shit. 6-6 teams need help to make the playoffs.

Correct. Let's just say, the Colts are a 6-6 team that's going to need help if it's going to the playoffs. Someone's going to have to lose.

I'll admit the Colts have a shot at 4-straight. The Titans are awful now, but the Jags could beat them. Oakland too.

"If" has become such a big word in this thread now, all the Colts can do is try to win their games and hope it's enough to get through. IF they make the playoffs then anything can happen.

Relax there Polian13. Indy might control their destiny, but Jacksonville has more control over theirs. All they need to do is win 3 of 4 as long as one of those wins is against Indy.

Right now decent teams that are physical can beat Indy. Jax and Oak fall into that category. 8-8 is as much of a possibility as 10-6. Most likely they will finish 9-7 and miss the playoffs.

I noticed that Caldwell looked confused on the sideline last night, like he had no idea what to do. Manning's QB rating over the past 5 games is in the low 70's. If a team's coach and QB are puzzled it's all over.

HOW ABOUT THEM COWBOYS!

Winning on the road is never easy, but when the opposing QB has a habit of throwing to the wrong jersey, the victory is even more enjoyable.
Each time Dallas was on D, I just wanted manning to drop back and throw the ball. Odds were he would throw an interception, but getting a pick-6 was a bonus.

manning looked like a young boy(junior) that suffered the most devasting loss of the season in the post-game interview.
i enjoyed every second of him taking his medicine and admitting he made poor decisions all game long.

It's great that the Cowboys beat the Colts yesterday. I think a lot of people were hoping for that outcome.

But Dallas is still not a very good football team and their record is 4-8. They have talent but they are sloppy and don't do the little things right. Clock management still isn't good and that cost them at least 3 points before the half. They look a lot better than they did with Phillips coaching them but they still have a long way to go in the discipline department to be a competitive team again.

If you're a Cowboys fan, is this late season surge a good thing? Garret may be coaching himself into keeping the job.

Definitely a positive situation. I'm not sure who the coach will be in 2011, but Garret sure is doing himself a huge favor by getting this team to "compete" week after week.
Obviously the playoffs are out of the question. Everybody knew that the week Wade was fired.
Dallas is playing a lot better the last 4 weeks. 3 wins and 1 loss is a major improvement.

Does this post have what it takes to be the next "Donnie Vie Sets the Record Straight"?

Seems to be going on just as long.

Hopefully with the short week, the Titans will put the Colts out of their misery on Thursday.
