Lou back to Florida! Canucks retaining 15% of his salary. Florida also gets Steven Anthony.

Markstrom and Matthias go to Vancouver.

Jackets inching closer . . .

Bob is 15-4-1 in his last 20. That helps.

The Canucks may as well blow it up and trade Kesler and the Sedin sisters while they're at it.

A year ago the Canucks had Luongo/Schneider in nets, now Lack/Markstrom. Simply unreal, because they just don't have that much to show for it.

Luongo and Schneider netted them Bo Horvat, Shawn Matthias, and Jacob Markstrom. A, maybe, legit proespect and two fading prospects.

I am starting to think Gillis is one of the worst GMs in the league.

Playoffs work by division now, like the old Adams, Patrick, Norris, and Smythe days. The only difference is if the 5th place team in one division has more points than the 4th in another, they get the spot. So it's 1-2-3 in each division of a conference, plus two wildcards. The wildcard with the least points faces the division winner with the most.

So, in the East, it would be:

Boston/Toronto
Montreal/Tampa
Pittsburgh/Detroit
New York/Philly

West would be:

Anaheim/Dallas
San Jose/LA
St-Louis/Minny
Chicago/Colorado

From NHL.com:

The Stanley Cup Playoffs will still consist of 16 teams, eight in each conference, but it will be division-based and a wild-card system has been added.

The top three teams in each division will make up the first 12 teams in the playoffs. The remaining four spots will be filled by the next two highest-placed finishers in each conference, based on regular-season points and regardless of division. It will be possible, then, for one division to send five teams to the postseason while the other sends just three.

Seeding of the wild-card teams within each divisional playoff will be determined on the basis of regular-season points. The division winner with the most points in the conference will be matched against the wild-card team with the fewest points; the division winner with the second-most points in the conference will play the wild-card team with the second-fewest points.

The teams finishing second and third in each division will play in the first round of the playoffs. The winners of each opening-round series will play for berths in the conference championship series.

The winners of the conference championships advance to the Stanley Cup Final.

Matthias is third line at best.

And Markstrom is the smallest big goalie I have seen play. He might still come good.

And yeah most fans are pissed. Some for getting rid of Lou, and others for what they got in return. And a lot for both!

What does Royal Dudeness think of all this.

And what about his favourite player not scoring for 30+ games!

I've been tearing this trade to shreds on Facebook. I simply cannot believe that Mike Gillis has a job. Fucking unbelievable how messed up this team is.

Your average hardcore Canucks fan seriously could have done a better job than Gillis. I'm convinced he has naked pictures of the owners.

It's going to be a rough next 5 years as a Canucks fan. The new Sedin's contract is sending them back to the stone age.

You can still swing from Alex Burrows nutsack,so it's not all bad. I'm sure he's just saving himself for the playoffs.....playoffs?

Hossa out with an upper body injury.

I will sing this song ever day until his return.

Also, some dickhead stole all of Crawford's gear Saturday night right out of the Soldier Field locker room while he was at the press conference. That can't be good luck.

Flyers and Pens supposedly both fighting to get Ryan Kesler from The Canucks. Flyers got defenseman Andrew MacDonald from The Islanders yesterday. Lord knows we we need the help on D.

Penguins pick up Marcel Goc. He should help shore up the 4th line...unless he's going to be flipped as part of a package in the battle for Kesler.

Tim Thomas to the Dallas Stars

Vanek to the Habs

So much for Vanek staying on the Island.

Habs just stole him for a bust of pick from a couple of years ago, and a 2nd rounder in a weak draft year. Yeah, he's a rental, but it helps the team a lot and didn't cost as much as a rental would have in past years.

So lets review:

- Isles trade Matt Moulson, 1st rounder 2014, and 2nd rounder 2015 for Vanek
- Isles trade Vanek (and a 5th rounder) for 2014 2nd rounder and Sebastian Collberg (a 2012 2nd rounder)

So this nets out to:

- Moulson, 1st rounder, 2nd rounder, 5th rounder for Sebastian Collberg and a 2nd rounder
- Cancel out the 2nd rounders and it's Matt Moulson, a 1st rounder, and a 5th for Sebastian Collberg
- IF (big if) Collberg wakes up a plays like a 1st rounder, it still means the Isles gave away Moulson and a 5th rounder for nothing

Where's Mike Milbury when you need him?

Vanek to the Habs is depressing. He's kills it against the Bruins. I wanted no part of Montreal before the trade.

Bruins are turning into the Patriots.
Let's not go for it, let's just add depth and hope we get to the finals and maybe we'll win.
So what if there is only a small window of opportunity for Rask and Chara
(Brady), we just want to be ONE of the top teams every year.
Nice attitude. Worked well for the Pats the last 9 years. (2007 excluded)

Vincent Lecavalier used to be a stand up player. But the day you put on a Flyers jersey, you become a cheap-shot hack.

I know Dean Lombardi used to get alot of shit in San Jose for being able to build a great regular season team that would fold in the playoffs but I love what he's done for the Kings. Getting Gaborik for Frattin and a few picks is a steal to me as you can always recoup picks and Frattin was a bigger bust than Dolly Parton.

I'd rather have the best player in the league who dived in the past over not winning shit since 1975. There are people born after that year that are grandparents.
