Andy Pettitte turned back the clock last night.
7 1/3 shutout innings. 10 K's. Not bad for "an old man".

That was awesome. While it was a reaction of "holy shit, they signed Millwood?" He's been a great pitcher for Seattle so far. He left in the 6th with a groin strain so hopefully he's not out long.TawnyVonJagger wrote:The Mariners used 6 pitchers tonight...all combined for a no-hitter vs the Dodgers!

In 2003 when the Astros combined for a no hitter against the MFY ( 7 pitchers? ), Steinbrenner had a bottle champagne waiting at each pitcher's locker. Los Angeles? Nothing. Dicks.

Kershaw against Vargas tonight.

They were just showing that since 2009 Clayton Kershaw has the lowest ERA ( minimum 400IP ) with 2.48. That's above both Halladay ( 2nd ) and King Felix ( 3rd ). Isn't he only 24 years old? Dayum. That's not even his physical age peak yet.

As good as the Dodgers have been this year, they are only 3 and half games back of the blue. Scary.

Techmical reason is, but that's always how it pans out. Didn't think it would happen so fast with Tim.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Giants first baseman Aubrey Huff bruised his right knee trying to jump over the dugout railing and join the postgame celebration of Matt Cain's perfect game.
San Francisco manager Bruce Bochy said Huff underwent an MRI early Thursday and the team is awaiting the results.
Huff, a top candidate for designated hitter when the Giants visit Seattle for an interleague series this weekend, landed on his knee as he jumped over the railing and had to be helped off the field.
Huff is hitting only .120 in 19 games since being activated from the disabled list.

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
My Reds whipped some Mets ass last night after a sweet sweep of the Indians made all the much sweeter after that whiny little bitch Derek Lowe shot his mouth off after WED. nights game. Obviously, there's some shit that went on between him and Dusty Baker a few years back and Lowe tore into Dusty's ass to the press following his loss WED. night. He said Dusty would "deny" and say he "had no knowledge" of whatever it was he was talking about (of which he never would actually say). However, Dusty shot right back and did NOT deny having knowledge of whatever it was/is and served Lowe's shit right back to him. Whatever it was, it obviously involved several people and nearly got people fired, etc. etc. Dusty also said he had heard that Lowe was drinking at the ballpark, was drunk, etc. (Lowe IS said to have a bit of a drinking problem & I have actually heard several pretty damning things about him; that he is a clubhouse cancer, etc. etc. Have no idea how true said things I have heard are, though I do know he got a DUI, I think it was last yr., so that could possibly indicate that he does have a drinking problem).
I've honestly ripped into Dusty Baker and some of the moronic decisions he has made as far as lineups and when to take a pitcher out of the game....just shit like that (though to be fair, he has been doing MUCH MUCH better w/all of that shit here in the past month or better) - but this actually made me respect Dusty quite a bit. He took up for his team and basically told Lowe not to fuck w/him or his team. We meet up w/the Indians again following this weekend series w/the Mets, so we'll be seeing ole Lowe again (@ CLE). Things could possibly get quite interesting during whichever game Lowe pitches.
I would love to know what in the fuck went down between those 2. Also gotta love Mat Latos saying Lowe was the whiniest bitch of a veteran player he had ever seen. Dusty told Latos to "brush" Lowe off the plate (but not hit him) which Latos did and of course Lowe got all pissy and whiny about that (and in turn, plonked Brandon Phillips). Lowe whined that Latos tried to hit him and Latos replied with a "believe me, if I had wanted to hit him, I would have hit him" and then followed that up w/the "whiny veteran" type comment.
Damn, do I ever love me some good ole bad blood baseball drama!
And, around the league, those MFY's are "HOT, HOT, HOT, HOTTER THAN HELL" (much to my disdain). Baltimore are still playing good ball (I'm actually rooting for 'em, it's been so damn long since they have been worth a shit). Still don't know what to think about the Red Sox. Getting beat by the Cubs is NOT a good thing
Still don't know what to make of the AL Central, other than KC and MN both SUCK.
AL WEST - the Angels have been creeping up on the Rangers....even Oakland has won 4 in a row (though I def. think that division is going to remain a 2 team race as Oakland and Seattle just don't stand a chance IMO). Also heard that Manny Ramirez asked to be released from Oakland.
In the NL....
NL EAST - Starting to feel like I was wrong about the Nats. I really thought that they would fizzle out, but now, I'm starting to think they're going to be up there for the rest of the season. Harper seems to be the "real deal" (and you just KNOW pitchers are giving it their ALL trying to get him out as you just KNOW most of 'em prob. think he is a cocky/arrogant little 19 yr. old punk - but despite 'em, he seems to be doing quite well for himself thus far at least).
Also, as young as a lot of the Nats players are, they could honestly be SCARY good in seasons to come.
Still a pretty close race with the Braves/Mets. Miami seems to have went to complete shit here lately for some reason I'm not quite sure of. And Philly, well, the injury bug has really bitten them hard and it's appearing as though they're gonna be pretty shitty this season. I honestly don't see 'em making a big move up in the standings any time soon.
NL CENTRAL - My Reds are still on top. The Pirates appeared to be threatening not even a week ago (when the Reds completely BLEW a good lead last Sun. night and made themselves look like a bunch of amateurs on national TV), but now find themselves 4 back. I predicted that they would end up fizzling out again like they did last season. Not saying they are in the midst of that right now, but regardless, it will happen. St. Louis are even w/them and are in the midst of what should be an easy series for 'em (@ home vs. the shitty Royals). Overall, it's a weak-assed division and I honestly think the Reds will hold on to 1st place.
NL WEST - The Dodgers are still pretty damned hot and currently hold the best record in baseball. Though the Giants are not looking bad themselves & find themselves only 4 games back. I think this division is going to pretty much mirror the AL WEST and be a 2 team race. It's "possible" that AZ could get hot & go on a tear, but I predict they won't. I've watched several of their games and they just don't look all that impressive to me. And of course, CO and SD completely suck.
Anyways, that's my long-assed baseball post of the week..............

It's the annual June Swoon for the Marlins. I don't know WTF is up, either. The wheels just come completely off. I can't bear to watch. I see trades in the near future. Although, the Marlins beat the Rays tonight in 15 innings. Bullpen was epic, but I hope JJ goes deep tomorrow. Then we go to Boston...why? Play Boston twice, yet we don't play the MFY or the O's. Dumbass schedule.
