The deals they could make (as sellers) at the deadline could be historic.
I forgot to mention the Ortiz injury.
Could be his achilles. An injury that has bothered him before. Team said he may need several days off, but not so severe that he will need to be
placed on the DL

There always seems to be rumblings about Greinke. Unfortunately he has severe Social Anxiety Disorder and depression issues, so the teams he can be traded to is limited. I know NY and Boston are on his no-trade list, I would assume Anaheim too. :?
Which is why I have never allowed myself to get excited about the prospects
of him landing in The Bronx. The kid does not have the make-up to play in a big city or at least that's his reputation to date.
I know about his recent starts, but Milwaukee offered him 5 yrs / $100 mil and he said no, not enough $$. Since my post though, the decision to bump him from Wednesday's start looks like it truly is related to fatigue.

From what I've heard, Anaheim isn't on his list, but NY, Boston, and Philly are. Also, sure, Anaheim is part of greater Los Angeles, but I don't think LA is a stressful place to pitch. I don't think Chicago is on the list either, and I think Kenny Williams & the White Sox will make a run for him. If he really has Anaheim and even Chicago on the no-trade list in addition to NY and Boston, where will he get more than $20 mil / yr? Texas and Baltimore (yes, I said Baltimore) is the only other place I can think of that would offer that kind of money AND has an interest in adding another front-line SP.

Just my 2 cents...

White Sox would like to thank Bobby Valentine for having more balls than brains.

If the Nationals jump into the Dempster talks I hope Theo bends them over. Their farm system is loaded.

Theo has a fan.

In Valentine's defense ( still not a fan ), what was he supposed to do? Youkilis' was unhappy coming off the bench even though he's clearly on the decline now. Plus this is a contract year so it wouldn't surprise me if either he or his agent requested a trade.

As for Epstein wrangling up a bunch of prospects from Washington  , when has he ever done that? Strasburg has a 160IP limit this season and they're clearly going to need more pitching down the stretch.

Dempster's a #3 and the Nats FO ain't stupid.

Christ, the Red Sox just don't know when to give up.
Now there is talk of trading Crawford to the Marlins for Hanley.
They are also in the running for Dempster and Garza.
Just blow the fucking thing up already. They could replenish their farm system for years to come with all the chips they have.

My bad dude, I should've clarified that post. His WHIP is 1.03 ( career 1.46 ), it's hard to imagine him sustaining that switching leagues, much less to the AL East. It would be a classic case ( Epstein style ) of buying high. Not unlike Jeff Suppan.

I personally hope Gentle Ben stays the hell away from that one. I'd be more comfortable with Cook and Dubrant, or even Garza really.

I think it's absurd they're testing the market for Crawford. The guy's had two good games back, and is reportably pretty fragile mentally. Unless it's his request imagine what that news is gonna do.

Quintana now has gone 8 scoreless innings without giving up a run and had the bullpen blow it three games in a row. First time since 1900 it's happened.

Hey Robin, next time he's putting up zeroes, why not just let him throw the ninth? Can't be any worse than the alternative.

That's a shame for anyone who likes watching terrific outfield defense. Brett Gardner's the man, and I despise the Yankees.

Oh, and good luck to the Sox, going up against Aaron fucking Laffey tonight.

Are you excited for Travis Snider? No offense, but that guy's been such a disappointment every time he comes up to the majors. I hope the next time he comes up he does well though. He's just seems to be a "Quad-A" player that mashes in the minors and then can't catch up in the majors...

Buster Olney: "Red Sox are the early favorite to land Garza."

I'm not pissed that this team has sucked pretty much all year, my issue is the front office won't admit it. Let's rape the farm system AGAIN to get Garza and whoever else they're after and then miss the playoffs anyway.
This team just cannot be sellers.
What a mess this will become dealing with the Cubs again.
Gee, think Theo knows the Sox farm system? Think he will try and get ridiculous return with players he knows inside out?
How did the compensation for Theo work out?

Hey, he seemed alright this weekend, but it was in a joke ballpark so I won't hold my breath. Looked like a huge improvement over Rajai Davis in left field, at any rate.
