Interesting. The Braves need the help, God knows. I forgot all about Beachy's season-ending surgery until this morning. The right-hander can veto any trade, but he is not likely to demand an extension in order to approve the deal, according to Jon Heyman. Randall Delgado could be going to Chicago in the deal, Bowman adds.

Yeah me too. Maybe this move fires them up so to speak. Strasburg is approaching his 160IP limit, Philly has DL stints of biblical proportions, the Marlins....actually I don't know what the hell is going on with the Marlins. The Division is ripe for the picking though.MurrayFiend wrote:From MLBTR:Interesting. The Braves need the help, God knows. Yesterday I watched the Baseball Hall Of The Very Good inductions. How and the fuck Ron Santo is enshrined is beyond me. I feel like the bar to get in has been lowered. Which brings my next point.
Next year's eligibility class is:
Barry Balco
Mike Piazza
Curt Schilling
Roger Clemens
Sammy Sosa
Wow. As for numbers alone, yes all of them in ( Schilling is borderline, I think he's in eventually if just for his post-season stats ). On mlb.com they're discussing with the BBWAA and the Veteran's Commitee about the possibility of their inductions.
Reggie Jackson, George Brett and Mike Schmidt have stated they won't attend anymore events if the cheaters are inducted. There is 65 living HOFers and all will boycott.

What kind of a world is this?
Maybe his numbers will look a bit less brutal now that he's hitting in that joke park and the other AL East joke parks.
Anyway, the game between those two teams (at Safeco) is on TV here. I'll probably check out some of it, see what's up.

Tigers trade prospects Jacob Turner, Rob Brantly, Brian Flynn and a compensatory pick to Marlins for Anibal Sanchez (
), Omar Infante and a compensatory balance pick.

I don't think anyone did, but upon looking it up he requested a trade since the organization is rebuilding, and there would be no place for him. Jay Buhner stated he would be sick if Ichiro got a multi year deal at the end of the season, even for less money. If there is one thing Jack Z. has done is load up on pitching.Leppardmania wrote:Wow.....didn't see that one coming.Redman77 wrote:Suzuki is a Yankee!!!!!![]()

There are 3 aces on the rise in the minors, now he added two more pitchers. I smell another move, but who? They need a veteran bat to go with Montero, Ackley, Seager and Smoak.

Sad to see them go. Hopefully Anibal can now get some FUCKING RUN SUPPORT. I've been hearing good things about Turner. Hopefully THIS trade with the Tigers will pan out this time.Facedown wrote:Tigers trade prospects Jacob Turner, Rob Brantly, Brian Flynn and a compensatory pick to Marlins for Anibal Sanchez (), Omar Infante and a compensatory balance pick.

And for the love of fuck, Marlins, trade Hanley if you must, but please, PLEASE leave JJ alone. Hanley punched a cooling fan the other day, and had to get stitches. A few days later, the hand gets infected because he didn't take his antibiotics. Dumbass.
I fucking HATE this.

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
From MLBTR:
Was this a matter of Wandy being the best they could do without giving up the likes of Taillon or Cole? The Pirates have acquired left-handed starter Wandy Rodriguez from the Astros in exchange for minor leaguers Rudy Owens, Robbie Grossman, and Colton Cain. The Astros will also pay some of the remaining $30MM owed to Rodriguez through 2014, a salary commitment which includes a 2014 option that was triggered by the trade.
Rodriguez, 33, has posted a 4.04 ERA, 7.5 K/9 and 2.2 BB/9 in a little over 1,300 career innings, all with the Astros. The Wasserman Media Group client signed a three-year, $34MM extension with Houston prior to the 2011 season.
Grossman, an outfielder, is the best of the three prospects acquired by Houston, according to Jim Bowden of SiriusXM ESPN radio (Twitter). A 22-year-old switch-hitter, Grossman was a sixth-round draft choice of the Bucs in 2008. He's hit .262/.374/.403 with seven homers in 413 plate appearances this season with Double-A Altoona.
Owens, 24, had a 3.14 ERA in 19 starts with Triple-A Indianapolis this season. He has been added to Houston's 40-man roster.
Tom Singer of MLB.com first broke that the trade was close. Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com confirmed that it was official and added in the financial details (via Twitter), and club press releases added which players the Astros received.

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
Dodgers just got HanRam from the Marlins. I'm unsure if the Marlins are getting ready to just blow the whole thing up or if they're just making a few moves to dump some excess salary (to be fair, Hanley hasn't been the greatest in the world for the past couple of seasons and I have heard he is quite the headcase, so who knows). Maybe a change of scenery will be just what he needs to get back on track.
I don't know about the whole Wandy Rodriguez to the Pirates trade. He doesn't seem to be all that great of an upgrade to me. Not unless they're expecting somewhat of a forthcoming decline in their starting pitching.
I'm actually sorta hoping that my Reds stand pat and make no moves. It would have to be a GREAT pickup and nothing less. They're doing just fine as is in my opinion, even w/out Joey Votto. Last night they moved 2.5 games ahead of the Pirates. And I know everyone (well the media at least) is just gushing over Bryce Harper but Todd Frazier has put up slightly better numbers in less at-bats. Of course, you never hear shit about Frazier, just the Nats "golden boy". If Todd keeps it up and they're considering Harper as a RotY candidate I see no reason at all why Frazier shouldn't be considered as well. I understand the whole age thing, but it should be about the numbers the player puts up, not just the fact that they are (well, in Harpers case) just 19. Doing what he has thus far at 19 is pretty impressive, but I guess I'm just tired of hearing about the guy.
Now Mike Trout, OTOH, that dude IS REALLY impresssive. Wow. Wish he was a Red.

Now the Rangers may be willing to give up 3B prospect Mike Olt as part of a deal to get Josh Johnson. They lost out on Hamels, obviously, and with the loss of Colby Lewis I should think they're talking to a few teams (Brewers?) about starting pitching right now.Monkey_Julius_Bowaffle_ wrote:Dodgers just got HanRam from the Marlins. Athletics were apparently aggressive in pursuit of Hanley at one point. Still interested in acquiring a shortstop; Yunel Escobar, Stephen Drew and Jimmy Rollins (LOL) are all reportedly being looked at.
EDIT: Looks as if Rollins isn't in their sights right now.
Also, Greinke stuff:
Greinke ups value in strong return- Jon Paul Morosi

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/milw ... ine-072412Of note, Greinke is said to be an admirer of the Angels and Braves organizations. If he is traded to one of those places, the team may have an advantage in trying to re-sign him after the season.

Santo's numbers are actually amazing considering the era he played was chock full of some of the best pitching to ever take the mound. You have to pump up his numbers every bit as much as we need to lower the roid era player's numbers.
He's like the Liberace of bass & pot.

White Sox want Greinke "badly".
Dodgers after Hunter Pence or Shane Victorino.
Hideki Matsui DFA.
Yankees could be looking at Chase Headley.
Blue Jays are trying to move Yunel Escobar and have interest in Jose Reyes.

I buy the first part, but not the second. If the Jays are looking to move Escobar it means they believe Hechavarria is MLB-ready (despite not having much of an impact bat). They were interested in Reyes in the offseason for no more than a five-year deal, so because he's on the hook for five more after this year folks be speculatin'. I don't buy it.Facedown wrote: Blue Jays are trying to move Yunel Escobar and have interest in Jose Reyes.

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
Active week for the Yankees.
Good news: Ichiro is now a Yankee. Girardi has said Ichiro will primarily play LF and might sit against certain LH starters.
Bad news: ARod out 6-8 weeks with a broken bone in right hand as a result of hit by pitch from King Felix.
Yankees probably won't be looking to make a HUGE trade here. Ichiro was just acquired.
Yankees might look to their minor leagues for help.
Eduardo Nunez could be recalled within a week. He was on the team to start the year, but was demoted about 2 months ago due to poor defense. He only started playing in the last week because he injured his thumb soon after his demotion.

Very happy things worked out the way they did.
Sox wasted tens of millions of dollars and appear to be desperate to rid

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
MLB to expand instant replay.
Selig told a radio station in New York on Friday that Major League Baseball would expand replay to include trapped balls and line drives down the foul lines.
"We're now going to add it on trapped balls in the outfield and as I call them bullets down the right- and left-field line," Selig said.
Selig did not say when the changes would take place. Umpires can currently use video replay to determine whether a home run is fair, foul or has cleared the fence.
The problem with expanding replay review in this way is how umpires deal with baserunners when calls are overturned. For example, if a line drive down the left-field line is called foul with a runner on base but a review shows it to be fair, where do the baserunner and batter go?
"First of all, you want umpires to call what they see," Joe Torre, executive vice president of baseball operations, said during the All-Star break in Kansas City. "In the case of fair or foul, the smartest thing is to call it fair. Because if it's called foul and ruled fair, where do we put the runners? That's why, through education, I'm not so quick (to accept the expansion)."

Giants added Scutaro from the Rockies for cash and AAA infielder Charlie Culberson.
Obviously adding Greinke makes Anaheim a hell of a lot tougher, but with the way Ryan has Texas built even with possibly losing Hamilton to FA, I think the West is their's for a long while. Shit, they've also got the top ranked farm system in the majors...
