CB have won all but about one week I think. I'm second, but it as a distant-ass second.

Don't worry - I'll fuck it up yet. My team is waiting to all go cold once the playoffs start. In the 7-8 years I've been doing this, I don't think the #1 seed has ever won the championship!

Hmmm...
Just noticed that we have an 8 team playoff this year, but with only 12 teams not 16, that makes the regular season borderline pointless. Should we change it to 6 (top two teams with a first round bye)? That would make a bit more sense - you should really have to at least be in the top half to make the playoffs, surely? Of course, easy for me to say sitting second right now.

I somewhat agree with the fact that it should be fewer teams but it also is a little bit late in the season to be changing the rules. If there were six teams that make it as of now there are four of us fighting for the last spot. With 8 teams there is one (and MAYBE two) teams that have a shot at the 8 spot. I worry that guys who are out of it in the six team format will just tank their teams; we had one of those last year.

To me, a bunch of teams fighting for one spot is better (even if I wasn't sitting as pretty as I currently am), but I guess it is a little late in the season. Maybe something to look at next year.

I don't know why we didn't have a good participation level this year as opposed to the previous ones; maybe we should figure out a way to make it more fun/competitive.

Maybe we should go on strike, resolve it, declare a 1st half winner, a 2nd half winner, and expand the playoffs - like the 1981 MLB season?!

On second thought... no.

I deserve the Biggest Cheezer award.Sqwandered, I say.

I'm down for slimming the playoff field, although I am currently bubble-shaped. Makes sense with less teams. Some years the field deals some shit. On paper my team looked killer. In reality, I finally won a game in my last 6. Nonetheless.....

VIVA LOS CRAPPERS!

You know what's kind of fun to do? Go into the "All Time" tab on the League page and check out your teams from previous seasons. Some of these names are a blast from the past.

Here's "The Gambling Gretzkys" lineup from the fabled 7th place finish of 2006:

Garrett Atkins
Jeff Baker
Chris Duffy
Ryan Garko
Chris Gomez
Ryan Howard
Brian McCann
Jay Payton
Gary Sheffield
Ty Wigginton

Two things: Garrett Atkins put together a couple of really good years from a power hitting standpoint. Also, this was the year that Ryan Howard hit 58 bombs.

Fuck me - talk about the (bad) luck of he draw...

There I was feeling smug/relieved to have eeked out a 6-5 victory over #1 Canuckle Balls when I look at my schedule and see my three remaining match ups are against the remainder of the top 5.

I'm pretty stoked right now which is funny since my goal is always to beat PKOS ( whom previous to this season I'm like 0 - 6 against  ). Now it looks like I've got a shot at playoffs so I'm paying super close attention. Like I sat Sabbathia today. I've got Chipperson in QS, wins, and ERA, but because the King didn't have his breaking stuff yesterday TX worked him over and cost me a lot of Ks and some WHiP.

There ain't no way Sabbathia was striking out 14+ and I knew he would've killed my ERA, so I sit his fatass down. Check and mate.

Working on getting that last spot. I do agree though that next year if we are 12 teams it should be 6 in the playoffs. I will make that change next year.

Yeah, I'd say my Canuckle Balls deserve a bye. You just KNOW I'm going to get upset in the first round.

Where the hell is PKOS? He's not eliminated yet and this is the first time my team has done well......as in not exactly terrible against him.

I smell blood.

PLAY-OFFS!

In a desperate desire to cling to second, I beat Chip Chipperson down into seventh, thus securing a repeat of last week's match-up. Now, watch it come back to haunt me!

Oh, and congrats to Canuckle Balls on an epic regular season.
The gap from first to second is 10 games more than the gap from second to eighth.

Thanks, but I've lost Matt Harvey and Jason Heyward recently, and went 4-4 over the last 8 weeks of the season. I'm worried that I'm ripe for the pickin'. I was REALLY on fire the first two thirds of the season, having gone 12-1. When I win, I often win big though...
