Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Nate Marquardt was a bust.
The guy spent the entire fight waiting to unload that big right. It never happened, and he lost.
Neither of these guys deserve a shot at Silva, and neither of them would beat him as of today.
However, there were some good fights.
The commercials suck!

Who is watching the fights tonight?
Should be a good night.
Let's see if BJ Penn has anything left in the tank.
If he doesnt, he should retire.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
On a scale of 1-10 Bj came into the ring at a 9 1/2 or 10. Matt Hughes came in at about a 6. Fight starts & Hughes didn't know what hit him. Fight over.tripsgirl wrote:Bj Penn in 21 secs!?! Matt was like WTF happened???
I thought Bj was done. If he comes in like that in all his fights he is unbeatable.
Lyota/Rampage fight was a stiff until Lyota caught Rampage mid 3rd round.
It was the right decision. And I could care less about a rematch b/t these two fighters.
Overall a pretty good night of fights.
What do you think?

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Payback for the 1st Shogun fight for Machida, still bullshit. Another gift decision for Rampage.
Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
BJ Penn say fuck all y'all.
As for the main event...Rampage won the first two rounds by default because Machida didn't do anything. Machida's third round doesn't erase that.

Agree about BJ. I noticed that before it started, he looked like he was in outer space before his last fight.yeahbuddy wrote:On a scale of 1-10 Bj came into the ring at a 9 1/2 or 10. Yeah I saw nothing wrong with the decision. It's the scoring system I have a problem with.tin00can wrote:BJ Penn say fuck all y'all.

Yeah, I'll agree with that. While Rampage won the first two rounds, he didn't do anything other than stalk Machida. However, Machida's third round win was more convincing than the first two rounds combined, by far. Hopefully he learned he can't keep it all in the tank for the final round.

I have zero interest in seeing a rematch between those two.

The UFC needs to make all, whether it be a title fight or not, main events a five round fight.tin00can wrote:mullet_head wrote:Yeah I saw nothing wrong with the decision. It's the scoring system I have a problem with.tin00can wrote:BJ Penn say fuck all y'all.

The Rampage vs Lyota fight was over before it ever began. The only action was the last two and a half minutes of the last round. Everything before that was a bunch of crap.
It reminded me of the Frank Mir Crocrop(spelling) fight. Nothing happened until Mir got lucky in the last minute and landed a knee to the face.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
i don't think rampage won the second round by much if at all. i would have called that match a draw.
did penn's fight even last 24 seconds? maybe if there was a ten count. fuck.
k.w.
i want a rematch on both fights

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Seriously, how did Rampage win the first two rounds by throwing punches at a guy (who ducked/defended 99% of them) while absorbing just as many punches, plus leg kicks himself? Just because he came forward?
Shit was at least a draw.

Machida's style is to wait for mistakes, go in for the damage and then retreat and wait for more mistakes if he can't finish it. In the first two rounds, that meant that Rampage looked like he was controlling the fight. I'm not entirely sure how the scoring system works but I do know they give points for "octagon control" and in the first two rounds it looked like Rampage was more in control, even if only slightly.

Nam Phan Vs. Leonard Garcia
Quite possibly the worst decision I've seen in any combat sport in YEARS. I'm just waiting to see what Dana White has to say about this one. Joe Rogan was PISSED! To dish that kinda shit on the judges after the fight, had he been an NBA/NFL/MLB announcer, he'd have been fined, or suspended after that lil' tirade. He was absolutely right on though.

What fight were those morons watching.
The cool thing was Garcia knew it as well and acknowledged it.
Overall it was a good night of fights.
Brookins sure took some shots, and has mad wrestling skills. However, I dont think either of those guys are ready for the big time. They look like little boys when you think of other fighters.
Showtime fights-
Didnt think Henderson still had it in him. Damn, that was a monster knock out.

I like Garcia a lot and I liked how he handled the after-fight. And yeah, that was a horrible decision. I've never heard Rogan go off like that.

If it was any other sport besides MMA/UFC, Rogan would have been fired or at least suspended & fined big time.tin00can wrote:yeahbuddy wrote:Yeah, thats about right.nakedmadman wrote:Nam Phan Vs. Leonard Garcia

I thought Joe was spot on with his comments.
Funny how his sidekick didnt say anything at all.
