Free-agent pitcher Carl Pavano recently suffered a ruptured spleen that will sideline him for six to eight weeks, according to a report by FoxSports.com.

Pavano, 37, was injured when he slipped and fell while shoveling snow in his driveway at his home in Vermont, a source told the website.

Strange injuries aren't anything new for Pavano, who once landed on the disabled list after bruising his buttocks in a 2006 spring training game while with the New York Yankees. He also suffered two broken ribs in an automobile accident later that season, an incident he originally didn't tell the team about.

The New York Mets and Colorado Rockies were among teams that were showing interest in Pavano this offseason, Fox reported.

Brian Cashman says there is a possibility that A-Rod could miss the entire season.
Red Sox OF Ryan Kalish will need shoulder surgery and will not be ready for the start of the season. Geez, can this kid stay healthy for more than 2 minutes?

Big trade. Braves have a lot of money invested in the
Upton brothers

The Atlanta Braves have agreed to a trade to acquire outfielder Justin Upton and third baseman Chris Johnson from the Arizona Diamondbacks for pitcher Randall Delgado, infielder Martin Prado and minor leaguers Nick Ahmed, Brandon Drury and Zeke Spruill, sources tell ESPN.
This trade is good for everyone, even if it's only for this reason here:

Only took Bud Selig many, many years to decide what to do with this
ridiculous play.

No one can complain about how long games are anymore now that they've shortened it by eight to 40 seconds.

Records from an anti-aging clinic in Miami list the names of prominent baseball players -- including Alex Rodriguez, Melky Cabrera, Nelson Cruz and Gio Gonzalez -- and detail performance-enhancing drugs administered to them and others, according to a report Tuesday by the Miami New Times.

The names were on records Miami New Times said were given to it by an employee who worked at Biogenesis of America before it closed last month. Miami New Times reported that the records show the firm sold performance-enhancing drugs, including human growth hormone, testosterone and anabolic steroids.

Anthony Bosch, the 49-year-old head of the clinic, was connected to Manny Ramirez when the former MLB star was suspended for 50 games for violating baseball's drug policy in 2009. Bosch has never been charged by local or federal officials.

Of course they are looking into that option. Any good organization would
be doing their own due diligence.
The odds are stacked against the Yankees being able to void
the contract. Would take a minor miracle.

How unfair?

When he won hit 50HRs and won MVP on a last place team, he was juiced out of his mind. When he got 250mill from Tom Hicks same deal.

How do we know this? Number one he failed a UA. Number two, he fucking admitted it.

How unfair? Machado, you're "special" huh? Have to be. You make Greg or Grishnak Boss look like rocket surgeons.

Come to think of it, that's adorable and it explains a lot.

ARod has already said he took PED's from 2001-2003. That is already on record.
This new report from the Miami paper is a totally different story.
They have made their claims, shared the notebook entries and everybody has already presumed all players involved are guilty, without having to defend themselves.
That is unfair

He is the backup plan for Napoli and Gomez.

I bet he doubles the amount of that contract's value over the course. The NL West is going to be fucking mean next year. Argueabley the toughest division in MLB.

Ibanez worked out well last year and since Raul didn't want to return on a 1 year deal, option B has to be explored.

I don't expect anything from Hafner. It would be a miracle if he plays well enough to make the team coming out of ST.

Yahoo! Sports reported that Francisco Cervelli’s name was among those found in the handwritten records of Biogenesis, the Miami clinic with reported links to performance enhancing drugs. Yahoo! noted that Cervelli’s name was never specifically linked to PEDs, but was simply listed in the clinic’s records.

Around 10:30 last night, Cervelli responded with a statement via Twitter:

Following my foot injury in March 2011, I consulted with a number of experts, including BioGenesis Clinic, for legal ways to aid my rehab and recovery. I purchased supplements that I am certain were not prohibited by Major League Baseball.

Ryan Braun, whose name was also found in the records, also said that he had connection with Anthony Bosch but that the connection had nothing to do with acquiring performance enhancing drugs.

The fact Cervelli and Braun have admitted some connection to the clinic does seem to add some validity to the handwritten records, which might not be good news for Alex Rodriguez.
Former Yankees prospect Jesus Montero, now with the Seattle Mariners, linked to Anthony Bosch and performance-enhancing drugs

Mariners have agreed to a seven-year, $175 million contract
Felix Hernandez.

That's a lot of money for a right arm that has hauled
a lot of innings to date.

That is just retarded. When his arm is jello, a team like the Mariners can't afford to be stuck paying off the majority of the contract when he moves out of town. Sure, I'd want him on my team but they aren't the Yankees. My bet, they regret that one in 7 years.
