If your team is 10-19 poised to win the division while playing .345 ball, how would you deflect attention from the magnitude of suck up North?
Oh! Oh! I know! Accuse the the other team of cheating:

Eckstein's comments about Morris are classic "a guy who can't even make it to the HOF"
awesome.

I wonder if next they'll blame Reyes injury on Ortiz.

That's Eckersley, not Eckstein. Didn't think Eckstein would say something like that.

Harper ejected yesterday in the 1st inning for showing up the
3rd base umpire.
Great call by the umpire. The kid needs to be put in his place and learn
that he can not get away with everything.
During the post-game interview, Davey Johnson sided with the umpire for tossing Harper from the game.

Bullshit. People are there to watch Harper, not the ump. The ump started moving down the 3B line towards Harper and then got his panties in a twist. Fuck the umpire. Stay at 3B and do your job, don't inject yourself into the game. You're supposed to be anonymous.

Once Harper raised his arms up in disgust over the called 3rd strike on the check swing, the Umpire was within his rights to walk towards home platetin00can wrote:Machado wrote:Harper ejected yesterday in the 1st inning for showing up the

and let Harper know that he is showing up the Umpire and that needs to stop.
Then Harper decided to pout like a baby and throw his helmet and bat to the ground in disgust.
Once again putting the Umpire in a good position to throw the player out of the game for his behavior.
Umpires don't want to be shown up. Whether they are several feet from the player or 90 feet away from the player. Makes no difference.

Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Roy Halladay will have arthroscopic surgery to repair a bone spur in his right shoulder.
"They're going to go in and clean up the bone spur, clean up the rotator cuff and the labrum, try and keep that as (uninvasive) as possible," Halladay said Wednesday before the Phillies played the San Francisco Giants.

Vernon Wells played 3rd base last night in the 9th innings last night. Never played there before, even as a kid!

Indeed he did. One ball was hit in his direction. Well made the play just fine.wickedsensation wrote:Vernon Wells played 3rd base last night in the 9th innings last night. Never played there before, even as a kid!
Yankees are playing in a NL Park, and with a very thin bench, Girardi did not have a back up infielder to play the 9th.
Good news is Mo secured the save in the 9th and saved Wells from having to play more than 1 inning at 3rd.

One of the worst MLB Crew Chiefs blew a home run call last night that would have tied the game in the 9th for the A's.
Here are some post game comments from the Ump and an A's reporter and MLB
Hernandez, who asked a pool reporter not to record his interview following the game, said there was not enough clear proof to overturn the original call.
"It wasn't evident on the TV we had it was a home run," Hernandez said. "I don't know what kind of replay you had, but you can't reverse a call unless there is 100 percent evidence and there wasn't 100 percent evidence."
Major League Baseball issued a statement nearly two hours after Thursday's first pitch in Cleveland and indicated the call will stand.
"By rule, the decision to reverse a call by use of instant replay is at the sole discretion of the crew chief. ... It was a judgment call, and as such, it stands as final," said Joe Torre, baseball's executive vice president for baseball operations.

Angel Hernandez said no recorded interview, only write down answers but says they didn't have enough evidence to reverse call. #Athletics

Yankees return to KC tonight for the first time
since Mo tore his knee up last year during BP
This sign was posted by someone on the Yankees team/coaching staff and the chalk line where he fell.

MLB had to apologize for umps for the second straight day.
During the Angels/Astros game last night, the Astros put in a relief pitcher.
The Angels sent up a pinch hitter. The Astros then replaced the pitcher again which is against the rules.
Umps said Astros were allowed the second change.
It's one thing to blow a call, it's another when a group of veteran umps don't know the rules.

The umpires are a union so their pretty untouchable unfortunately. They've been sucking ass for so long though that even "Inner-League" Bud Selig suspended one for it. If you actually make that piece of shit do his job there is a problem.Facedown wrote:MLB had to apologize for umps for the second straight day.

Joel Hanrahan is out for the season with surgery to repair a damaged flexor tendon in his throwing arm.
Damn I had ( still do ) Boston winning the East.....if their pitching holds up. Bailey's pretty fragile and now Hanrahan is out. That could cost them.

Yeah - the HR call was awful, but I can accept that on rare occasions. But getting the rules wrong? That's unforgivable, especially when it wasn't a particularly complicated situation.Facedown wrote:MLB had to apologize for umps for the second straight day.

Curtis Granderson to activated tonight against the M's. He's put up ferocious numbers in extented ST and AAA so good news for the MFY ( and my fantasy team
). Unfortunately for Curtis his activation comes against the argueably best one-two punch in baseball with King Felix and Iwakuma. Look for him to pulverize Harang on Thursday

Well Scott Boras is his agent so look to Boston to try to do what they should've done in 2007 and move him. Unfortunately Theo's ONE draft pick that's sorta worked out's stock isn't as high as it was then. Funny that Theo's the only one salivating so far.Funnelhead wrote:Yes, but the Cubs will probably swing and miss.killeverything wrote:They've got money to spend so I wouldn't be surprised to see Theo try to aquire him at the deadline.Facedown wrote:The Cubs are reportedly going to persue Jacoby Ellsbury when he becomes a FA.
