I dug up the 2007 version of BP, and it said "Consistently delivering heat in the mid-90s and touching 98 MPH..."killeverything wrote:Machado wrote:I remember he was highly touted and didn't live up to expectations.killeverything wrote:Homer Bailey threw his second career no hitter against the SF Giants today. Damn.
I remember I had a Baseball Prospectus 2008 Top Prospect Handbook that had him as like the top 3 prospect overall. Those of y'all waiting for him to become an ace it seems he's well on his way. After his first season I had expected him to flame out.
I noticed last night he was touching 95+ with his fastball. I don't remember
him throwing so hard when he first arrived to the big leagues.
Do you?
Yup. I'll double check when I get back to headquarters. I seem to recall his velocity was one of his high points, but it's been overshadowed/forgotten because of Aroldis Chapman.
Last night at the ballpark, it showed 97 and 98 MPH throughout the 7th inning. That was the last time I checked, as we moved down to the lower level after that. Ryan Hanigan was on ESPN 1530 here in Cincinnati at 3pm today, and he said that he was as high as 97-98 MPH in the 8th. He also said that normally Homer is closer to 94-95, but since his fastball was going so well, he decided not to call as many off-speed pitches as he normally would.
Hope that this helps...
