He also passed it a lot more, and played one more game. That difference is a product of different styles of team, not the quality of the players in question. As noted, Rodgers got more yards per attempt. Quite considerably more in fact. Meaning he did more with each play he had to make than Peyton did.
poizond13 wrote: -Peyton had almost 100 more completions.
-Peyton had a higher completion percentage
The completions are a product of the team's approach, as stated, but his completion percentage WAS impressive given how much he threw it. I'm not saying he didn't do some great stuff, simply that the stats breakdown between the two is not some clear cut win for Peyton.
poizond13 wrote: -Peyton had more touchdowns.
And even more interceptions.
And Rodgers could walk them in if need be. Peyton couldn't/didn't.
poizond13 wrote: -Peyton was sacked 16 times, Rodgers 31.
True. That's a lot of yards lost that Peyton avoided. Like I said, I'm not arguing he was bad. But you can't talk about this and then dismiss the other QB's ability to gain vital yards with his feet in key moments.

So, ultimately, I don't think you can look at the stats alone and ultimately claim either was clearly superior to the other. Of course, one did have much better play-off stats. Those kind of matter.

Also, how the hell is Rogers a 'fluke'? His first three seasons as a starter have been exceedingly consistent, and played at an exceedingly high level. And with his third excellent season of play he then went on to win the Superbowl.

And through the first four games this year? He's racking up even better numbers.

Has he put together the sheer body of work Manning has? Of course not. Odds are he never will. But he's certainly performed well enough, and with enough consistency and success to clearly be ranked among the elite QBs, not a fluke. To suggest otherwise is ridiculous.

Manning's numbers should have a big asterisk next to them. He plays 8 games a year in a dome. 3 of his road games are warm weather sites within the division. And the schedule makers see to it that the other 5 road games are set up so he rarely goes to a cold weather site after Nov 1st. So Manning is lucky to see 2 cold weather games a season, giving him 14 games a year under perfect or nearly perfect conditions to pad his stats.

Rodgers plays 8 games on the "frozen tundra of Lambeau Field", and another game in Chicago, and a look at the schedule says he could potentially have 7 games affected by weather. Same thing with Brady - 8 games in Foxboro, 1 in NYC, and another in Buffalo, with the one guaranteed warm weather site being played in Sept as it is every year. 11 of his games could be affected by weather. And even though these QB's face weather that pussyboy #18 has proven that he can't play in while putting up better numbers, Pinhead13 can't fathom the fact that they have been outplaying him.

^ That sounds like Brady bias. Manning is great. Brady is great. Right now Rodgers is better than either of them. His numbers this year are ridiculous and he's just a stone cold winner. Personally, I'm starting a team from scratch, I take Rodgers over either of the other two.

Talking to my 62 year old father during that Green Bay route over Denver and he told me the NFL has never had a batch of QBs this great at the same time. I love watching all of them play. Unless they're beating the shit out of the Bears.

How is that Brady bias when I'm pointing out that Rodgers is playing in Lambeau? No, I'm just pointing out that the QB's that Pinhead13 thinks are lesser players than Manning have been putting up better numbers while playing in worse conditions. Face it, domes pad stats. If Manning played somewhere like GB, NE, Pitt, Chi, or Buffalo then he wouldn't have put up the numbers he did. I'm not saying he wouldn't have been good, I'm just saying his numbers wouldn't have been as gaudy and his winning percentage would have been lower.

I think scheme plays a far bigger role in padding Peyton's stats than where he plays. Still, Manning is one of the best QBs of all time. He would have been no matter where he played. His team's current status is testament to that. Your post reads like he's over rated. He's not. He's that good. It would be interesting to see what he could have done if he'd been drafted by a better organization (like NE). It's kind of like the old Sanders vs Smith argument.

LOL. Just when I thought you couldn't get any dumber. Is this post for real or just a pathetic attempt at trolling? Please clarify. This must be the dumbest thing I've ever read. Writing off Peyton's accomplishments because he's played indoors? Holy fuck, that's idiotic. So idiotic I won't even address it.

Don't you understand that this is what ALL of your posts look like to us?

Here you are with the fucking Colts' underwhelming dynasty (ONE ring in all those years? Talk about a wasted fucking window of success) coming to an end, with a team that's going 3-13 this year, still talking shit. You look like a fucking moron to this whole board, every time you make an appearance.

Manning is finished. I might as well be going on about how awesome Sammy Baugh is.

I can't wait till the Colts finally win a game, your triumphant return to the Locker Room will be downright hilarious.

Your team has been the LAUGHING STOCK of the whole league for as long as I can remember. They're almost as pathetic as you and your waste of a life.

We are having one bad year this year after about 10 phenomenal ones. We will be back next year stronger than ever. The Redskins will still be the laughing stock of the league, and you'll still be a pathetic fucking faggot, waste of human skin.

Yeah, enjoy you're fucking 3-1 before Grossman chokes away the rest of the season. The Redskins have an ok team this year, but they're a pathetic franchise and terrible organization. They'll never win anything under the current ownership, and there's no end in sight to that. Much like your own life, they're a dead end team going nowhere fast.

Derp. No YOU have the shitty life. Burn.

Look, I and a million Skins fans have been saying the same shit as you for he past decade, but as long as Snyder can stay out of this shit the team is on the right path. This season is NOT about Grossman, it's about a kickass defense and the possible rookie of the year, Ryan Kerrigan, and the best draft the Skins have had in ages.

Don't you watch ESPN? The Skins are a QB and an offensive lineman away from losing every year in the playoffs like the COlts.

I don't see why you are so confident about the Colts. They are old. They are obviously AWFUL without Manning, and Manning is about done. It could be a long time before the glory days return to Indy, sorry.

And regardless, three trophies in the case look a lot better than two.

Nobody is writing off Manning for playing in a dome. However playing in perfect conditions does help a player pad stats. I'm sure that he would have adjusted had he played somewhere cold, but still when historical comparisons are made and you talk about the all time greats you still need to account for some of his numbers being attributed to playing in a dome.

Look at Manning's numbers on the occasions where he has played in similar conditions and they are not very good. Again I am sure he would have adjusted at some point but still I think you can attribute 5-10% of his stats as being from the dome. When you compare Manning to the all-time greats such as Unitas, Starr, Graham, etc.. remember they played outside and had to deal with the weather. No doubt Manning is top 10 all time, but I say closer to 10 than 1 with this being part of the reason. His playoff numbers would seem to confirm this.

A lot of teams are a quarterback away from being a contender. They aren't that easy to come by, unfortunately. As for snyder, he'll never stay out of the football side of the team. Not for long. That's why he's Dan Snyder and the Redskins are the laughing stock of the league for ten years going.

I'm confident in our team because we have a strong organization and a group of winners that know how to get it done. One year won't change that. Peyton comes back next year as strong as ever for 4-5 more years. We will get 1-2 more Super Bowl wins with him at the helm. MARK MY WORDS.

P13 will leave Sludge forever if the Colts lose in said super bowl.
The Colts were on the road BACK to the super bowl last year.
The Colts will raise the trophy triumphantly at Lucas Oil Shithole in Feb, 2012
Manning WILL start the season for the Colts in 2011.
Kerry Collins is totally awesome enough to pick up the Colts offense and carry the load till Manning comes back.

Seriously dude, your "words" are worth less than dogshit around here. I could actually find more people here that would take a piece of fly-ridden dogshit seriously than anything you say. Your words are as useless as Peyton Manning in the press box.

Some potentially great games this weekend:
TN vs Pitt
NO vs Car
Oak vs Hou
NYJ vs NE
GB vs Atl
Chi vs Det

Tennessee versus Pittsburgh should be a good defensive game. I was planning on flipping back and forth between that and NO vs Car but Fox is giving us Philly vs Buff instead.

New Orleans vs Carolina should be a shootout. O/U is 51. I say over.

Oakland vs Houston ought to be some good smash mouth football.

New York vs New England should be a close game. I'm not buying a 7.5 spread. Yeah the Patriots can score but that defense couldn't stop a Pop Warner QB and with Mayo injured teams can run on them. I think Belichick will try to keep his defense off the field and run the ball. Hernandez and Woodhead are doubtful and they need them in the passing game if NY decides to take away Gronkowski and Welker. I think we'll see a lot of BJGE between the tackles and therefore a lower scoring and close game.

Green Bay versus Atlanta. I think Atlanta has had this game circled since the schedule came out. Ryan hasn't been very accurate this season, but GB can't defend the deep stuff very well this year. Something has to give. Rodgers is clicking on all cylinders now and Atlanta doesn't pressure QBs very well. This game means more to the Falcons than the Packers, but I just don't see Atlanta pulling it off.

I'm looking forward to watching Chicago and Detroit Monday night. It will be interesting to see what Fairly can bring to that defense. Cutler will probably piss himself during the coin flip and be on the exercise bike soon after that.

You're right, Manning is the only good player we've ever drafted. These guys all suck:

Edgerrin James
Reggie Wayne
Dwight Freeney
Robert Mathis
Dallas Clark
Bob Sanders
Joseph Addai
Antoine Bethea
Gary Brackett (undrafted f.a.)
Austin Collie
Jeff Saturday (undrafted f.a.)

Never mind the fact that almost all of these players are multi-time pro bowlers. They're all terrible.

And all of these players were acquired despite having very low draft picks each and every year. Your ignorance is truly unbelievable. Bill Polian has built two dynasties. He's won the executive of the year award SIX times. Yes, that's right, SIX times. He's a future hall of famer. Yet, in your eyes, he just sucks.

You sound like a fan of a team that's been miserably pathetic for the past ten years. Oh wait.

When were these two Colts dynasties?

They've won two Superbowls, and lost two Superbowls.

They've never made consecutive Superbowls.

So despite some good teams, they've never dominated the League, or even the AFC, in terms of titles.

The Colts most well-known moment was losing Superbowl III to an AFL team. Until then the NFL was considered invincible. And their legacy for the Manning era is going to be "win during the season, and then lose in a big game". They are the NFL version of the Atlanta Braves: lousy for a long time, then loaded with talent and almost nothing to show for it.

You better hope "you" win today because this is one of only two or three games that "you" have a shot of winning this season.
