He also needs to get Pete Rose into the Hall of Fame; pull the Rays out of Tampa, and put a team back in Montreal (OK, or someplace else); get rid of inter-league play; come up with a schedule where you don't have a team that has played 96 games vs .500+ opponents (Tampa) competing with a team that has played 76 games vs .500+ opponents (Texas) for a playoff spot; and ensure you don't have fiascos such as the 2013 Houston Astros every year!
Love MO, but he can wait.
Pete Rose is a must to be in the HOF. Why can't Bud make that happen and at the same time include verbage on the plaque that refers to Pete betting on baseball as a manager for Reds. Sounds fair to me.
I like inter-league play. What's wrong with playing teams from the other league occasionally
Imagine what the other 3 major sports would be like if those teams were only allowed to play teams within their conference? Boredom would set in. Playing the same teams year after year. Recipe for disaster. Variety is a good thing.

If it were only occassionally, like when they started it, it wouldn't be so bad. However, this every day/week shit is kind of stupid. I'm a bit of a traditionalist. I feel it takes away from the mystique of the World Series.
I don't like the DH either, but that ain't going anywhere, because it creates high paying jobs for the PA, and prolongs careers. At this point you can add Selig ensuring both leagues have the same rules as a to-do for him too!
Pete Rose all-time hits king. He made the most of his abilities, they called him "Charlie Hustle" for a reason. That said gambling is THE cardinal sin in baseball. That is THE big no no.
Pete knew that and lied about it for years. Ask his relief corps how they feel about him. The Hall is also supposed to house players who played the game right and didn't cheat. Hence why Pettite, Clemens, Arod, Bonds, etc. will be excluded. Earl Weaver's name still isn't cleared just for not narcing. Giamatti was right with his lifetime ban. Hopefully piece of shit Selig sticks with it

BULLSHIT!
Some people have been elected to the Hall as players and others as managers only.
Why can't Pete Rose be elected as a player only and have some reference to his gambling on the game as a manager and banned him for life?
What's the problem with that? NOTHING AT ALL!!!

Agreed. Baseball simply can't have any other policy in regards to gambling than a lifetime ban. Pete Rose bet on baseball knowing full well baseball's policy on it. I'm not even sure what the issue is with this.

Yup. How is this even an issue? Were all dealing with the fallout of the Selig era, kind of "well they don't test for it, etc. He should be in the Hall because even without roids he
was good." With gambling after the 1919 Black Sox it's set in stone.
That is the ONE thing you don't do. Pete Rose was one of the greats, no one is arguing that. It's arrogant to break the rules just cause he holds a record. The Hall isn't in his future. Peroid.
I still fully support the Veteran's Commitee with their stance of the roid guys aren't going to be enshrined. They feel the same about Rose.

Got to love a team that gives more then it takes. If only people were the same!
I hate Mariano Rivera, I remember a time when there was no crying in baseball. Bet Trevor Hoffman never did. I wonder what John Rocker would say while watching that weeping moment.
Could be crying over NY being DENIED of the playoffs.

I agree with you on all accounts. I haven't looked at who's been going in but if I see an obvious ROID player I'd piss on him.
Seen Pete this time last year sitting alone in a Vegas sports shop. I tipped* my LA cap and he returned the tip with a pleasant funny smirk. Me and chick stopped as thoughts ran through my head because he did break the cardinal sin yet I enjoyed watching him play. I'm so on the fence with Rose, just can't get over him coming in low over Macho Grande.
I kind of regret passing the opportunity for an alone chat with Rose but the idea oddly gives me a hint of anger. My first thought was you broke the sin......And I'm seeing you in fucking Vegas of all places.
*tipping cap, two fingers on the bill with the index finger pointed at LA. He must have found it funny, his expression was a KODAK moment.

The money these days is blinding. After seeing Cano ask for 10/310m then watching my favorite team spend enough for a small army....I hope the Yankees laugh Cano to Boston....."not LA"
This just came up on ESPN about the Cano asking price.
HOUSTON -- On the day after their indelible night in the Bronx, where Mariano Rivera broke down and cried on his city's shoulder, the New York Yankees looked washed out, emotionally vacant, as they prepared to play a series as strange as any they have played in years.
The 108-loss Houston Astros? In Minute Maid Park? To end the season and officially close out the closer, Rivera, right after he authored the perfect ending to a near-perfect career by collapsing into the arms of Andy Pettitte and collecting dirt from the Yankee Stadium mound?
Hey, you play the schedule that the schedule-makers give you in sports, even if an intraleague opponent offers up an interleague vibe and even if the circumstances are odd enough for Joe Girardi to consider putting Rivera in center field this weekend.

Why would Boston sign or need Cano? Cano is a great 2B, but he's not better than Pedroia.

Now Kill....While I agree Boston will have no interest in Cano and obviously have the right guy for them, Pedroia is not a better player than Cano. I might rather have Pedroia in some ways though I think he will break down physically earlier than Cano, the gap between the two has widened and its in Cano's favor.
All that said, Yankees should stick to that 6 year, $138 that has reported or let him go. All these teams have to learn at some point, right?
Once again, the Angels are rolling over in Arlington and taking up the poop shoot, when they could have knocked the Rangers out of the playoffs and at least finished the season on a decent note.

See I agree that Cano will probably stay healthier over his next big contract than Pedroia. J personally would take Dustin though. Cano swings a bigger bat, but Pedroia is the better defender although not by much. I personally value IF defense over all so I'm biased in that regard.

There's a helluva race in the AL right now with Cleveland holding a one game lead over Texas and Tampa Bay who are tied. Dayum.

I was joking and tossed a big money team not in LA. I'd love to see Cano in a Cubs uniform and never have a winning season.
No clue who would pick him up at his asking price. Any ideas? Who needs a 2B with money? I would say the Rangers, Dodgers, Boston and NY are out. White Sox?

See ya Todd Helton, spent a lot of time in Coors Field, I missed Larry Walker leaving 1st base but it didn't take long latching onto Helton. A silent beast.
And he went out walking.
Not crying on the mound!
"I'm glad I was here," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said. "I like seeing fans' respect for him."
Hall of Fame announcer Vin Scully paid tribute to Helton on the video board before the game. Fans gave Helton a standing ovation and he waved his cap to the crowd as both teams joined in the applause.
"That was very kind. They didn't have to do that," he said. "I was very honored and humbled from those kind words. The last at-bat, I got a little emotional, but other than that, it's September 29th and I'm ready to go home."
The video clip from Vin is so cool it almost takes away from Todd. Todd playing QB for Tennessee goes out for a knee injury and his replacement was Peyton Manning.

Kemp has had a rough couple of years.
Kemp or Either need to go.
I like Either, he plays hard. Solid in the field and consistent at the plate. When he's at the plate with runners on I get a good feeling.
Now on Kemp......haven't seen much of him. Actually, with his injuries there's a good chance they will always nag him, he could forever be broken. Who's going to fill the OF?
Van Slyke or Schumaker? FuCk

I've been thinking for a while now what's going to do LA in is the errors allowed/base running mishaps. For the the upcoming Atlanta series the Braves are ranked #4 at error prevention vs. the Dodgers at #14, I don't have the updated #s with Kemp officially out, but I assure you their not better.
Fucking baseball season is over.
On to the ARod hearings that are supposed to begin today. I heard on ESPN
the hearings might last 3 days.
Hoping that ARod's suspension will be reduced significantly.
211 games is absurd for a 1st time offender.
ARod was actually playing very well the for the first month of his season. Then the leg injuries caught up to him and his play was trending downward rapidly.
Nice to see Andy go 9 strong is his final outing over the weekend. Andy did not pitch a complete game since '06 and did not pitch a complete game on the road since 2001.

For what they are paying Eithier, his #s do not justify.
But that's on Ned Coletti, he enjoys giving away big money
to a little bit above average players.
Why?
The Yankees are in deep shit for at least a couple of years...unless the Dodgers want to bail them out.
No farm system to promote from within or to trade with and many, many needs to be filled while trying to stay under the luxury tax.
Be prepared for the "Yankees Suck" chant to come back and actually be true.

Why?
Because the 2013 season is over silly!!!
Yankees need to find a catcher or promote the youngster, Gary Sanchez, which is very unlikely since he's in the low minors
Yankees need to either sign Cano to a new contract or find a 2B to fill the vacated position.
Yankees have questions at SS and 3B for different reasons.
More questions for the starters/relievers. Losing Mo means Robertson or someone else will have enormous shoes to fill.
Plenty of questions to ask/answer but plenty of time in the off-season to fill the holes and be competitive in 2014.
WhiteHouseSubsAC wrote:LO fucking L that Machado thinks Aroid is a "first time offender". That motherfucker should be banned.
Based on the CBA, he is a first time offender.
Rules are rules and both sides negotiated those rules and they are to be applied if the person is ARod or Joe Ball Player.
