Re: The New (Spam Free) Never Ending Wrestling Thread
We're supposed to care about Ryback because Vince has a hard-on for the guy. I am not a fan. The squashing jobbers bit has been done before and it's a bland, cheap way to get out of solidly booking a guy. Hopefully this is the first and last run for him, because having Ryback as your main eventer is going to flop. Hard.
Punk's one year reign is the most interesting aspect of Raw and yet he's still second fiddle to John fucking Cena and his million title shots. Fuck him. I had hoped Vickie would throw Ziggler in the match against Punk...then again, I was genuinely excited for the Punk/Foley elimination match. They pissed on that with the abysmal Raw last night.
They had lightning in a bottle last summer with Punk until Triple H decided to get involved. They tried to recapture it but realized they couldn't, hence the Punk heel turn. If this all leads to Cena beating The Rock for the belt at WrestleMania, I think I'm done with WWE for a while.

I'm very curious as to where they go with Brad Maddox, the guy seems pretty sharp from what I've seen online.

Re: The New (Spam Free) Never Ending Wrestling Thread
Vince still swings on steroid shriveled nuts:
As seen Monday on Raw, WWE overhauled its plans for Survivor Series on November 18, 2012.
On the show, Vince McMahon mandated that CM Punk will defend his WWE Championship in a Triple Threat Match against Ryback and John Cena at the pay-per-view event. With this turn of events, Team Punk is now known as Team Ziggler, while Team Foley has an empty fifth slot. Prior to the change, The Miz quit the group in protest of Punk’s leadership, and was replaced by Wade Barrett after Paul Heyman aggressively sought him.
According to sources, WWE changed their plans for multiple reasons. Among them was the belief that the originally scheduled main event, Team Punk vs. Team Foley in Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team Match, would draw dismal pay-per-view buy numbers. With rare exceptions, tag team matches as main events are generally mediocre earners on pay-per-view. The entire Bragging Rights concept was dropped for that very reason.
What also swayed plans for Survivor Series were the pay-per-view buy figures for Hell in a Cell on DirecTV being “surprisingly strong.” Privately, McMahon credited Ryback for the result and felt placing him in a ten-man tag team match, even though he would likely be left standing, would not be beneficial to him. McMahon feels they need to capitalize on Ryback’s momentum, which would require the muscle-bound grappler to challenge for the WWE Championship in the main event.

Aaaaand just when you're ready to give up on Vinny Mac:
Both Damien Sandow and Cody Rhodes have been getting a lot of support backstage and Vince McMahon is a supporter of both guys.
Word is that McMahon has been highly impressed with Sandow in particular. There have been talks about ending the Rhode Scholars team in he next few months and the feeling is that Sandow could head to the main event picture if that happens

I see a LOT of long-term potential in these two, as well as Ziggler, Barrett, and Bryan. This will hopefully be the next wave of main eventers.nakedmadman wrote:Aaaaand just when you're ready to give up on Vinny Mac:

Out of that group, I see Ziggy, Sandow, and maybe Bryan making it. Cody's lisp hurts him on the mic, and I don't see him pulling off the high flyer routine.Captain Morgan wrote:I see a LOT of long-term potential in these two, as well as Ziggler, Barrett, and Bryan. Barrett looks a lil' slow in the ring, and I could see him in film, very soon. Looking for Wade to use the E as a stepping stone to Hollywood.
Danial Bryan seems like one of those wrestling geeks who would literally do it for free. He'll be there forever, barring injury, but I think he's gonna spend 20years being Vince's bitch.

The 2 guys I dig right now are of course, Wade Barrett, his Nexus run proved that he was and is a true headliner at some point. The other is Titus O'Neil, talk about an absolute physical specimen, they need to eventually split him from that hack, Darren Young.

I hope Vince doesn't rush the breakup of Rhodes Scholars. Just as the tag division is finally getting pushed, I think breaking them up or breaking up Hell No would do big damage.nakedmadman wrote:Aaaaand just when you're ready to give up on Vinny Mac:

I "thirded" the feeling bad for Drew thing, the guy is finally getting over in the craziest way possible and then this happens hope he'll be back soon.
Has anybody else noticed that when The Great Khali is walking he reminds you of the scene in Star Wars Revenge Of The Sith when Anakin first becomes Darth Vader, I know I can't be the only one that pictures that or maybe I am, I am a fucked-up indivdual after all.

Re: The New (Spam Free) Never Ending Wrestling Thread
The more I think about the upcoming WrestleMania season, the more I see potential in another heel run/swerve for The Rock.
Think about it this way - The Rock takes on CM Punk in the main event of the Royal Rumble. Vince McMahon ultimately costs CM Punk the match, which is seen as a face move.
The next night on Raw, Vince announces that the Raw Elimination Chamber will be to determine the number one contender to the WWE title and that there will be no WWE title match - The Rock needs to stay healthy for the biggest Mania main event of all time. The Elimination Chamber includes John Cena and CM Punk, among others. At the pay-per-view, John Cena walks out as the number one contender.
In the weeks leading up to Rock vs. Cena II, Punk complains that he hasn't used his rematch clause, and that he wants to exact revenge on both Rock and Cena for stealing his spot in the main event of WrestleMania. This turns the main event into a triple threat match.
At WrestleMania, Vince McMahon appears once again. During the match, The Rock knocks out a referee. Vince hands The Rock a chair...who then instructs Cena to attack Punk with the chair. Seemingly reluctant at first, Cena takes the chair and destroys Punk with chair shots. Cena covers Punk, as The Rock wakes the ref up for the three count. At the end of WrestleMania, Cena, Rock, and McMahon all pose in the center of the ring.
The Raw after Mania, Vince claims that he took out an "insurance policy" with The Rock. He had given The Rock the main event spot and the win at the Royal Rumble in order to guarantee buys for the next WrestleMania. He says that Punk isn't who people are paying for, and that a pay-per-view with The Rock in the main event is guaranteed cash for the business and ultimately his pocket. John Cena comes out, dressed in a suit, and says that the old "Rise Above Hate" days are over - the fans have continued to hate him, and he has been given nothing after all of these years. He says that he couldn't stand not having the WWE title, not being in the main event as the champion, and not being the "top guy"; he basically made a "deal with the devil" to ensure that he would once again be champion, even if it meant working with The Rock. Cena would make sure that Punk would never see the WWE title ever again. Punk eventually runs out and begins to pummel Cena, leading to a revived feud with reversed heel/face roles.
This storyline sets up a number of positives for the business:
1. Punk gets a "reset" on his face run with a huge boost.
2. We get a long awaited Cena heel turn, drawing in a new audience (including those that stopped watching) and a new edgier era.
3. Rock, in a way, passes the torch to Cena (albeit in a heel manner) without actually getting pinned.
4. A heel Cena can then challenge The Undertaker at WrestleMania 30.

The only way you see anything like that is if Cena's merch stops selling.
As long as his shit sells to the kids, he's going to stay the same stale character.

You know... the ONE good thing that came from Lawler having his heart attack (other than J.R. temporarily calling matches again)... is that it put an end to all the stupid announcer feuds. Michael Cole is almost tolerable now.

Yea I have to agree with ya on the extra footage was not expecting that, it was cool to see though, no way he would be here today if that happened somewhere else.DOWN2WHISKEY wrote:Anyone else surprised that WWE showed footage of the EMT's working on Lawler? I couldn't believe they showed as much as they did. I expected a recap of what happened like the footage of Cole looking down at him, the doc rushing to Lawler's aide and him being hauled out but the rest was kind of shocking (no pun intended)!!! Kind of weird it was edited like a promo package!!! It was good to have The King back though!
I also had no idea that Ryback was in The Goonies I loved him in that movie.
