I had to watch the Sox game last night with the sound off.
Those whistling idiots made it as unbearable as a crowd full of vuvuzela blowers.

Farrell is going in the opposite direction.
I went to get a beer just as Tazawa was brought in for the 7,342 time this season and said "I guarantee he gives up a three run homer".
Upon returning from the fridge the score that had been 2-1 was 4-2.

You could change that to "according to Boston fans."
I think the guy is overrated as fuck personally. Duquette built his team in '04, Cherington in '07. As I've stated before his Chicago resume is going to prove if he's a brilliant mind or a beneficiary of someone elses doing.

Justin Morneau claimed of waivers by Milwaukie, but couldn't squeeze a deal. Could you imagine if they did? Damn.

Yusmeiro Petit set an mlb record of retiring 46 consecutive batters over 8 appearances.

Seattle's Jesus Montero was involved in an altercation during short-season Everett's game at Boise on Thursday. The first baseman exchanged words with a Mariners cross-checker and reportedly had to be physically restrained while attempting to enter the stands with a bat during the argument.

Montero was coaching first base, and at the end of an inning, the unidentified cross-checker yelled at him to hustle off the field, according to Boise official scorer Liza Safford. Montero then headed to the AquaSox dugout on the third-base side.

According to a game official, the cross-checker then ordered an ice cream sandwich and had it sent to Montero in the dugout, escalating the confrontation further. The official said Montero -- who arrived at Mariners Spring Training 40 pounds overweight this season -- approached the stands with a bat while screaming profanities and threw the sandwich at the cross-checker. Montero had to be pulled back from the stands by Everett pitching coach Nasusel Cabrera, Safford said.

The Boston SS and 2nd base play should have drawn a yellow flag. Made the top ten highlights tho!

Jack Zduriencik announces Jesus Montero will not play again this year. The scout has been sent home. I'm surprised he wasn't fired on the spot.

Jose Bautista hit his 5th straight HR today.

Phillies trade John Maybury Jr. to Blue Jays for AA 3B Gustavo Pierre.

Seriously falling A's ( after getting swept by seriously rising Angels ) trade class-A pitcher Nolan Sanburn to White Sox for Adam Dunn. Oakland is in need of power ( Dunn has 20HRs and a BAA below the Mendoza line ). They are 12-16 since trading Cespedes ( whom is currently tearing up Fenway ).

Adam Dunn has stated he plans to retire at the end of the season.

Cole Hammels and 3 Philly relievers ( including Pappelbon, let that sink in for a sec. ) combine to no hit Atlanta.

Adam Dunn* hits a HR in his first AB for Oakland, in what became a slaughter over Seattle and Chris Young. The Ms responded to the Dunn addition by calling up Justin Smoak. Smoak was in Tacoma learning how to flyout and strikeout with the other "elite" players, whom should have been cut as failures long ago. He's sucks on ninja level now.

In news that surprises no one, St. Louis has gained possession of 1st. The NL battle is still simmering with SF swinging the bats well and going 7-3 vs. West Coast Yankees 6-4, Milwaukie winning 2 of 10 ( it must be more persecution of Braun being Jewish ), Pittsburgh only 3 out, and Washington still on fire.

Houston releases manager Bo Porter.

LAD call up #3 prospect Joc Pederson from AAA Albuquerque.

*Dunn has never been in the playoffs before.

Papelbon has been one of the best relievers in baseball this year. It's fun to call him a dick but don't sell his performance short this year.

He's having a really good year, I didn't mean to imply that. I meant I don't see him as performing really well in high pressure situations, like continuing a no hitter.

I will admit I haven't paid much attention to him since 2007 though.

Tuesday Sept 2nd, Clayton Kershaw became the Majors first 17-game winner (17w-3L) stifling the Nats on three hits in eight innings. He fanned eight, surpassing the 200-strikeout mark for the fifth straight year.

Kershaw 17w 3L, 1.70ERA, 6CG, 2SHO, 25bb, 202SO, 10.74SO/9 .83WHIP

The Nat's took 2 of 3 from LA after today's game with the Dodgers giving up 3R's in the 9th for the tie, then both teams put up 2R in the 12th to keep it going then the Nat's finished it off with 3R in the 14th inning.

That had to be a good game to watch. Nice comeback, the Nat's are tough.

The Dodgers have a knack of burning out down the stretch every other year in a race and with Puig showing to be Mr June and not October I'm not sure they'll hold off the Giant's. Should be a good battle.

They'll hold off SF if the Giants keep losing games they should win. They're a funny team like that, but if they make the playoffs they become invincible

Kershaw will possibly surpass Pedro Martinez's 2000 1.72ERA mark. Unreal.

Soler and Salazar record their first career shutouts today. Salazar fucking beat Justin Verlander! Why is that statement not surprising anymore?

The Rockies and De La Rossa agree to 2/25 extension.

A rested King returned to form against Jon Lester today, in what was every bit the pitching matchup you would expect it to be.
King: 8IP 1ER 3H 2BB 4K ( 1HR )
Lester: 8IP 2ER 7H 0BB 5K ( 1HR )

Dunn homered first ( and you thought, there that's it. A 1-0 final ), then Seager and Hart hit them consecutively next inning. Man, Oakland is really struggling and still have 6 ( ? ) more against the Angels. If they miss the playoffs or have to face either the King or Price in a one game playoff....and lose. Do you think it will stain Beane's aura.

I don't know why the Red Sox in the middle of a lost season found it necessary to keep an overused, over-aged closer and not get some good pieces back.
His incredible season last year was not going to happen again and the wear and tear has been showing.
Idiots.

Watch the gamed last night. Unsure why he or the catcher continued to call for the split finger. It was clear as day that pitch last night was hanging in the zone. Does he have another pitch or is he strictly a 2 pitch pitcher?
Sometimes as a closer you have to abandon a certain pitch when it's proven the pitch is not working.

Ron Washington, citing a personal matter, surprisingly resigned as manager of the Texas Rangers on Friday, the team announced.

"Today, I have submitted my resignation from the job I love - managing the Rangers -- in order to devote my full attention to addressing an off-the-field personal matter," Washington said in a statement. "As painful as it is, stepping away from the game is what's best for me and my family.

"This is in no way related to the disappointing performance of the team this season. We were already discussing 2015 and looking forward to getting the Rangers back to postseason contention."

If there is one thing that Cherington has proven is the ability to build a team. The cleanup after "boy genius" is remarkable, and yes I realize rebuilding while having Henry's billions at your disposal is like congratulating Brian Cashman on "a great signing."

The AL has basically came down to a three team race down the stretch. Seattle, Oakland, and Detroit all have a small difference between them and a playoff berth. It's pretty cool. If the Mariners play to their potential their arms make them almost unstoppable.

I'm most surprised about Baltimore. Yeah, they can hit, but I didn't think they have the pitching to contend. They look like a team that can contend without an ace.

Breaking News
Rangers manager Ron Washington just resigned to address an off the field personal matter. That sucks I've always liked Wash.

Rangers GM Jon Daniels saying Wash leaving not drug related.

What about this though. It's come out that Daniels and the Rangers' ownership is hard to deal with and the Astros fired their manager and have an opening. I wonder if he follows Nolan.

To a point but they should have kept Miller and traded Koji.
Now they need SP (although I'm fine with the kids showing what they can do) and a closer (looks like Mujica is not the answer) and if they trade the farm for Stanton (I'd rather keep Cespedes and see if Castillo is the real deal) they are fucked again.

Boston has the ability NYY , LA, and LAAAAA has; and that's the ability to absorb mistakes. When Cherington took over he rebuilt their farm to top 3 in baseball ( I believe ranked #1 currently ). They're going to be fine. I also don't believe they trade the farm for Stanton. They look deeper throughout the system than they did under Epstein.

SF just beat Price ( 11K, 5ER ) and if Seattle and KC wins tonight Detroit could possibly be fucked.

The AL has basically come down to watching 4 teams right now Seattle, Oakland, KC, and Detroit.

The NL isn't as tight with LA, SF, Pit, Atl, Mil, and Stl. The Cardinals look tough and just got Wacha back. The redbirds do this every year.

*edit

Texas shuts down Yu Darvish ( shoulder ) for the remainder of the season. Good. The season's a was a waste, don't possibly risk a phenomenal talent ( best strikeout pitcher in baseball ). Same with NYY, don't fuck with Tanaka.

Jeter trying to not think about his special day!

NEW YORK -- Derek Jeter says he has not been told any details about Sunday's ceremonies for "Derek Jeter Day" at Yankee Stadium. He is not sure what time he is supposed to arrive or the guests who are coming. And he certainly has not thought about what the day will be like.

That is the unusual thing about being an active everyday player through this season-long retirement tour.

It's fucking ridiculous. And this is new with these assholes. This shit needs to stop. Funny, but not surprising how the Yankees are the only ones doing this.
