The 49ers just earned some respect! The Lions really are pieces of shit. Starting fights after they lost the game. I guess it should be expected Detriot is known for crime and dirt and not class and sportsmanship.

Harbaugh was out of line. "Act as if", that should be his motto.
Harbaugh was not composed, let his emotions get the best of him. You can bet anything that if the roles were reversed, Harbaugh would have a huge problem with an opposing coach.

Go cheer in the locker room, in the plane, etc...Not in the middle of the field while shaking hands with the losing coach.

I'm glad the usually emontionless Shwartz showed some fire. Maybe this will wake up the team. I know their 5-1 now but Staffords looked completely inept for about half of every game. Not at all how he looked in the preseason.

And why in the hell does Detroit not have an oh shit plan that consists of Calvin running deep on the left, Nate or Titus running a little less far on the right and Best in a short route down the middle.

That one was hard to swallow - but at the same time confirms my doubts about the team being THAT good. Kudos to Payton for taking the hit and calling from the bench. That was awesome.

After Brandon Pettigrew scored the game’s first touchdown, Harbaugh decided to challenge the play. He was given a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for an illegal challenge. (All scoring plays are automatically reviewed.)

Chris Chase at Yahoo! Sports unearthed the television broadcast of the aftermath, which shows Lions coach Jim Schwartz enjoying the penalty to no end. He strutted up and down the sideline yelling towards the 49ers sideline.

It’s unclear what Schwartz yelled, but it seemed to be about knowing the rules. (Check around the 2 minute mark of the video.) Perhaps that moment caused Harbaugh to be a little more exuberant in his back-slapping at the game’s end.

Florio may disagree, but I enjoy seeing the emotion out of the coaches. It’s an emotional game and great theatre. Harbaugh and Schwartz have a lot in common, which is why their confrontation almost makes sense.

Of course, Harbaugh was the one able to display the most enjoyable emotions after the game.

No, I think they grossly overpaid for Palmer. I would have thought a 2nd or 3rd rounder was sufficient, but Oakland had only a 1st or 5th to offer. I think they are/were going to finish just out of the playoffs so the pick will be closer to 18-19 and even that is too much to pay for him.

My point was that they are asking Palmer to step in for Campbell, not Stabler, so he's not going to be asked to do too much. Campbell is a middle of the pack QB at best. That's all Palmer has to be.

FWIIW, Carson has a few really good years left. But he's not worth what Oakland paid.
