Incredible. Who knew a market like KC could draw so many viewers.
Must have been all the Cardinals fans watching.

Anyway, I guess baseball experts can throw out the theory that a SP can not pitch until 4 days of rest
Madison went 5 strong and it looked like he could have gone 9, without any arm trouble/pain.

It can be done, but I wouldn't recommend it unless it was the last game of the season. The best example is DiceK and DiceK Jr. Tommy John canidate Tanaka. Game 7? Throw 100 motherfucker. Madbum would have.

Rockies decline option on Bret Anderson.
Royals decline option on Billy Butler.
Orioles decline mutual option on Nick Markakis.
Brewers acquire Adam Lind from Toronto for RHP Marco Estrada.
Toronto exercises option on Melky Cabrera.

No option on Melky; they extended him a qualifying offer.

And Marco Estrada is kinda uninspiring as a return for one of the best hitters in baseball against RHPs the last two seasons. Lind must be platooned and isn't an asset in the field, but his bat ain't nothing. :|

Royals would like Butler back, just not at the 12 million a year they would have had to pay him if they picked up his option. Sounds like Butler would like to stay in KC and may negotiate a home town discount unless somebody else jumps in and gives him that kind of dough.

Angels (wisely) exercise their option for Street, $7 million. Nice to have a solid closer for another year.

Cubs get Tsuyoshi Wada for a one-year deal. Solid low-risk high-reward potential.

Aramis Ramirez exercises his option to remain with the Brewers.

That was expected. Just a one year offer to protect the team with a draft pick compensation if he signs elsewhere. He's looking for a five year deal. Would love for him to stay in KC but doubt that it's gonna happen.

The rumor is Boston's two top wanted acquisitions are Shields and Panda. I doubt either of them stay unless they both hate it there. Seeing Sandoval in another uni would be odd, but the dude is 2 maybe 3 years removed from a DH. I don't think I would give him a 5 year deal for an NL team.

Mariners claim IF Carlos Rivero off waivers from Red Sox.

So far the 12 players to receive qualifying offers are:

Melky Cabrera, Blue Jays
Nelson Cruz, O's ( I wonder if he just accepts it this time  )
Micheal Cuddyer, Rockies
Francisco Liriano, Pirates
Russel Martin, Pirates
Victor Martinez, Tigers
Hanley Ramirez, West Coast Yankees
David Robertson, MFY
Pablo Sandoval, Giants
Ervin Santana, Braves
Max Scherzer, Tigers
James Shields, Royals

Sandoval is a heart and soul guy in SF. Stuff like that is important to Sabean. I'm sure every effort will be made to keep him; if he leaves it will because the Panda wants the big payday elsewhere. If the Giants offer is fair, he should stay.

Angels sign Cuban defectee 20 year old IF Roberto Baldoquin ( details forthcoming ). This signing knocks Anaheim out of signing any international FAs for two years ( I absolutely love that rule ).

Panda rejects SF's qualifying offer.

Nelson Cruz seeks 4 year deal for big bucks. I hope that cocksucker gets the same treatment as last year.

Terry Francona signs with Indians through 2018, including options for '19 and '20.

Epstein apologizes for firing Renteria after praising and assuring him he'd be back. At least he didn't blame it all on Luchhino.

Cubs are reportedly going to be major players for Russel Martin. This is coming at the same time of the Pirates' announcement they plan to raise their payroll.

Alfonso Soriano announces retirement. "I've lost the passion and the love to play." Increased PED testing will that, Alfonso.

The AL & NL Gold Glove winners have been announced:
Pitcher:
Keutchel/Hou & Greinke/LAD
Catcher:
Perez/KCR & Molina/St. L ( Molina's 7th! )
1B:
Hosmer/KCR & Dodgers' jackass AGonz ( enjoy watching the World Series, Adrian? )
2B:
Pedroia/Bos ( his 4th ) & LeMaheiu/Col
SS:
Hardy/Bal ( surprised it wasn't Jeter ) & Simmons/Atl
3B:
Seager/Sea & Arenado/Col
LF:
Gordon/KCR ( phenomenal ) & Yelich/Mia
CF:
Jones/Bal & Lagares/NYM
RF:
Markakis/Bal & Heyward/Atl

Can't really argue these. I had both the King and Cano beating Keuchel and Pedroia, but it was damn close. What KC did defensively this season was amazing too. If they play like they did in the playoffs their OF will sweep next year.

On to the Cy. Scherzer already owes Felix one, let's hope they get it right this time.

*edit

The West Coast Yankees hire Oakland A's asst. GM Farhan Zaidi to be their GM

I like Magic Johnson's logic on this one. If you want to change the perception/luck of the Paper Kings and their ridiculous payroll, hire execs from small market teams. That'll work.

The Dodgers are once again, fucked. From the time I was a kid all I heard was the Dodgers won with pitching and defense and if you looked at their infield today you'd see a Short Stop hole bigger that the grand canyon. They can't even toss money at the problem to fix it.

Fuck Hanley's bat, you can't win with pitching and his massive hole in Short.
The market is very thin on freeagent SS and the farm is doesn't have anyone to bring up so they're stuck with trying to sign Hanley's bat for another year and Hanley wants multi years.
Hanley needs to be a DH in the AL.

This is where is starts.
http://www.latimes.com/sports/dodgers/d ... story.html

Now it's on.

"If the Dodgers don't offer Ramirez a multiple-year contract, another team probably will. Ramirez is largely considered the No. 1 hitter in a free-agent class with few other premium offensive players.

Ramirez's agent, Adam Katz, declined to comment on the shortstop's plans.

If Ramirez rejects the qualifying offer and signs with another team before the start of next season, the Dodgers would receive a supplemental selection between the first and second rounds of the draft next year."

However, Ramirez's departure would create an opening at shortstop. The top in-house candidates would be the light-hitting Miguel Rojas and the inexperienced Erisbel Arruebarrena. Top prospect Corey Seager started at shortstop last week in the Arizona Fall League's All-Star game, but he is only 20.

The Dodgers were reluctant to offer Ramirez a long-term deal because of concerns over his medical history and ability to continue playing shortstop.

Ramirez turns 31 next month and is viewed by some teams as a future third baseman because his defensive range has diminished in recent years. He might also be a better fit in the American League, where he could become a designated hitter.

As a writer once said, Ramirez is only 31 but plays like he's 41.

I'm sure AGonz enjoyed winning Gold Glove, the division and watching the World Series more than the last place Northern Yankees did. Don't speak too soon, he'll end up as you're non playing Dugout Helper when Big Phatty retires. At least he owns a glove, something Ortiz has to borrow.

In the off season sometimes a player comes to mind and I think, fuck I miss watching that dude play. I miss Vladimir Guerrero swing.

Vladimir Guerrero will be eligible for the HOF in 2016, is he in? I don't recall PED talks surrounding him at all. He was fairly consistent.

16 years, 2,147 games, 8,155AB, 3.18BA, 1,328R, 2,590H, 449HR, 4772B, 1,496 RBI's, 181SB, 737BB, 379OBP, .553SLG, 4,506TB. 55.2 WAR!

9× All-Star (1999–2002, 2004–2007, 2010)
AL MVP (2004)
8× Silver Slugger Award (1999, 2000, 2002, 2004–2007, 2010)

He's THE best player I ever saw play live. The guy was a freak of nature coming up with the Expos. Five tool player. If he had come of age in a major market, he'd be considered an all-time great.

My derp! Never mind. I thought it was more of poke at me then Adouche, I keep forgetting he was a Redsox, he'll always be a Padre to me.....Agonz's a dick so Adrian is probably cool with the Dodgers making the NLCS last year and the NLDS this year as long as he's paid.
But what do you do with a guy like that? He can hit and play! It's not like Boston don't know the feeling with great playing assholes like Manny for instants. Hate to love a guy who helps your team win. Adrian is a douche and Manny is a douche regardless if Manny was a god at the plate...I still hated when the Dodgers picked him up.

From the time I was a kid it's always been hate the Yankees.....From the beginning of time they've spent and bought all their teams and championships, then Boston and some others got in the money race and the Dodgers hung around the top then finally blew the roof off! To be honest. It's a little weird being a life long fan of a team that's all of a sudden opened their bottomless wallet after a life time of hating the Yankees for doing it. It's not as bad because, they have to compete and other teams are in the spending race even with Money Ball being another option.

The problem is, I don't like half the fucking players on my team, so winning the division was cool but it's mixed emotions to be a life long fan of a team with players you hate or don't like and you're paying them billions to be there.

I'm not one of those fanatic fans who can have a Barry Bonds or Randy Moss on my team and be a fan no matter how many games he wins. Reminds me of John Rocker, I know a Braves fan who still wears his jersey. And Rocker was no Hoffman.

He'll sign with an AL team. Panda is loved in SF and loves playing there, but he is just about to be a DH. For the most athletic Chubby guy I've ever seen he struggles with his weight. A 5 year deal will see him eat himself off the field.

Other pundits are saying he stays in SF. They don't have anyone to replace him above AA, Lincecum's contract is soon to be coming off the books, Sabes keeps the core together, and it's not like SF is a small market. I just got back from there and you couldn't walk 5 feet without seeing the orange and black. It was pretty cool and never like that when I was a kid ( Clark, Mitchell, Williams years ).

The MFY is pretty much guaranteed to lock up Headley so Panda is the only premium bat/3B on the market. I expect an absurd bidding war.

Could be a case where he is making this public in the hopes that he will not
look like the bad guy if the Giants are unable to resign him.
Giants must overpay in a ridiculous way to retain Panda. They have no choice but to pay
him for what he has already done and not what they think he will do on the field
in the next 5 yrs.
No different from any other team. Just part of doing business.
Giants have more than enough money to pay Panda.
IMO, he is not worth 20 million a year for five years.

IMO, he is not worth 20 million a year for five years.
Panda hats and postseason heroics aside, I'm in agreement. The problem is for a team that offensively has ranked at the very bottom, a .279 hitter has been their best.

I don't see anyway they can replace him in the foreseeable future though. Without a hometown discount or whatever, SF will have to overpay.
