Casey Mcghee ( Marlins ) and Chris Young ( Mariners ) win Comeback Player Of The Year.
Young was starting to fall apart at the end of the season, although the impact he made prior to was huge. I wouldn't bank on a repeat.

Mets sign Micheal Cuddyer to two year deal. $$$ not yet released.
Mets reportedly tried to acquire Troy Tulowitzki from Colorado. Fear they can't afford, and I don't know about NY's farm. Last time I checked nothing stood out.
Braves sign Zolio Almonte to 2 year deal.
MFY have interest in Elvis Andrus. Elvis' decline after signing his deal ( weight, motivation ) has started to irk Texas FO. Unfortunately NYY has Brian Cashman at the helm, so they have no one on the farm worthy of Andus. Silly Yankees.

Kill-You really like to jump to conclusions don't you? It's not as easy as you think for any team in MLB to replace a HOF player.killeverything wrote:Mets sign Micheal Cuddyer to two year deal. $$$ not yet released.

How is Jackie Bradley working out for you? Did the Sux miss with this guy?
Anyway, Yankees do not have a prospect ready to play SS at the moment.
More reason to trade for Tulo or possibly someone else that can play SS for the next 4 years or more.

Who do the Yankees have that could pry Tulo from the Rockies? Seriously who? That guy was on his way to an MVP this season before the injury. NY doesn't have even ONE prospect to open negotiations with.Machado wrote:Kill-You really like to jump to conclusions don't you? There is no use discussing the matter Kill because you seem to already have the answers.killeverything wrote:Who do the Yankees have that could pry Tulo from the Rockies? Seriously who? The Yankees have prospects, the problem is none of them play SS and are ready to take over for Jeter.
Besides the prospects I listed below for your reading pleasure, there is a chance that someone like Betances could be offered via trade for Tulo.
Who knows? Possibility is there.
Or some other team can overpay for Tulo and the Rockies can have him and enjoy another losing season.
This is the list of top 10 Yankees prospects according to Baseball America
1. RHP Luis Severino
2. RF Aaron Judge
3. SS Jorge Mateo
4. 1B Greg Bird
5. C Gary Sanchez
6. LHP Ian Clarkin
7. 2B Rob Refsnyder
8. LHP Jacob Lindgren
9. C Luis Torrens
10. 3B Miguel Andujar

Not one of those prospects is ranked very high. It will take an entire farm ( meaning not a middle of the order/very bottom ) to get Tulo.
Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
Very possible. You never know. The most impossible trades have been made.killeverything wrote:Not one of those prospects is ranked very high. It will take an entire farm ( meaning not a middle of the order/very bottom ) to get Tulo.
Plus, Tulo has always wanted to be a Yankee. Maybe he'll give in some or the Rockies will give the kid a favor for his loyalty.

Matt Williams wins NL manager of the year. Hurdle/Pirates 2nd and Bochy/Giants 3rd. If they counted the postseason Bochy would have won
Washington had a helluva season though.
Sporting News picks Dan Duquette as Executive Of The Year.
I think Scosscia wins the AL; as with Bochy, Yost was a playoff impressive manager. If not Scosscia then it could be Showalter. I may have always hated the guy, but what he did with the O's and their weak pitching was pretty impressive.
I believe we find out if King Felix wins the AL Cy Young tomorrow.

Buck Showalter wins AL MOY.
Scosscia/Angels 2nd, Yost/Royals 3rd.
Lloyd McClendon/Mariners came in 4th.
I was pleasantly surprised at the job McClendon did with Seattle. I believe with him at the helm and a minor lineup tweak ( adding a RHH ), Seattle will be a serious threat in the AL West.

Surprised Williams won, given that he had a pretty stacked lineup. Beyond the post season, I think Bochy did a helluva job getting results from his entire roster with major elements missing throughout the year.killeverything wrote:Matt Williams wins NL manager of the year. They look at regular season wins/losses though. That's why everyone was on Girardi's nuts in 2009. 500 million spent in FA, how could you not win the division?WOLF wrote:Surprised Williams won, given that he had a pretty stacked lineup. Not counting the postseason I was impressed by Hurdle. I'm not knocking Williams though, he was one of my favorite Giants when I was a kid.
Not that I disagree, do you think that postseason should be counted? Bochy did a lot without Cain and Pagan, but without the 2nd Wild Card SF wouldn't have been in. I'm stoked for the win, but this was an all Wild Card World Series and changing the format might mean changing the season's qualifications.
*edit
Buck Showalter is the first manager to win 3 MOY Awards with 3 teams in the same league ( NYY, Tex, and Bal ). This is his 4th MOY.

I haven't looked at his numbers so I can't say for sure. I know his managerial career hasn't been bad though.
The MLB Allstars got shut out by Samurai Japan today. This exhibition has been better than expected.
Meada's final line was 5IP 2H 2BB 2K 0R
Last night Franklin Morales put up 5 runs in the sixth and the Hashin Tigers/Yamuri Giants came storming back to lose 7-8.
It's just an exhibition, but those guys all became Ichiro in the 5th.

Mets took a look at Jimmy Rollins as well but he doesn't want to leave Philadelphia.
Also, Machado is the most painfully stupid poster in the history of this board. It bears repeating in any thread he posts in.

David Robertson wants "Papelbon money".
Forget about it. The guy is the closer for 1 season and thinks he should be paid like Papelbon.
No thanks. I say let him walk, get the draft pick as compensation.
Robertson and his agent are overreaching. Robertson is getting bad advice.
Instead of accepting a record $15M qualifying offer, Robertson counters with an absurd counter.

Tigers resign Victor Martinez 4/68. That means they'll have a 35 year old Justin Verlander, A 35 year old Miguel Cabrera, and a 39 year old Victor Martinez in 2018.

Told you Brian Cashman was a genius. He paved the way for GM's to keep the older player around. Now the Tigers are following the path.killeverything wrote:Tigers resign Victor Martinez 4/68. Clayton Kershaw wins NL Cy Young.
Corey Kluber beat out King Felix for the AL Cy Young.
I thought it was Felix's, but Kluber beat him in strikeouts and wins. Ask any hitter if they would rather face Corey Kluber or King Felix. I promise you the response wouldn't be Felix.

I honestly never thought I'd see a day where Matt Williams would be a manager let alone win a manager of the year award. He must have switched from Steroids to Pot.

I think he switched to the pot when he went to DC. Some of the moves he made in the postseason had people screaming that ( I can't recall any personally ). Red Sox interested in speaking with Hanley Ramirez...
The Dodgers are rumored to be ready to move any of their outfielders other than Yasiel Puig. Friedman wouldn't discuss that other than to say the obvious surplus at the position "is much better than the alternative."
Friedman also wouldn't confirm the rumored hirings of Red Sox scouts Galen Carr and Dave Finley.
The Dodgers reportedly have interest in free agent Jed Lowrie (who played in Oakland for new general manager Farhan Zaidi) and Alexei Ramirez of the White Sox, who is signed through 2015 with an option year and would require a trade.

Was it the Cardinals who had a pitcher die as a result of drunk driving several years ago? And that led to the Cardinals banning alcohol in the clubhouse and team flights?killeverything wrote: Reports are coming out that Oscar Tavares was drunk ( 5x the legal limit ) at the time of crash.

I think so. I know Tony LaRussa got popped for driving drunk in St. Louis. Maybe because of the Cardinals association with Anheuser Busch they give the players the Budweiser that hasn't had the alcohol content replaced with water yet.Machado wrote:Was it the Cardinals who had a pitcher die as a result of drunk driving several years ago? San Diego Padres win 2m bid to negotiate with 26 year old pitcher Kwang-Hyun Kim.
All Star SS and 2 time World Series manager Alvin Dark dead at 92.
Alex Gordon wins 2014. Hutch award.
Even going through the #s more I think it's bullshit Kluber beat Hernandez for the Cy. That Toronto start ( 2nd to last ) possibly did the King in. I bet Felix comes back even more pissed off, stronger, and dominate next season ( he was pissed this year ). I also bet Corey Kluber morphs back into Jeff Weaver.
