Pablo has a locker room rep as a "me first" player. I see him signing with Boston and the deal with either is expected soon.
The Labor Agreement prohibits teams from issuing paycuts for gaining weight. Look for whatever deal he signs to be heavily incentive laden though.

Zach Duke signs with White Sox 3/15m.

Cubs turn attention to Lester after missing out on Martin. Lester to meet with ATL tomorrow.
I hope he signs with Boston
1)A minority player in Boston is not well liked
2)If he gains weight the Mo Vaughn jokes can return
3)The bigger distraction he is, the less likely Boston will be a factor in

Rivera crying on the mound reminded me of A League of Their Own. I expected to see Geena Davis come running out and carry Rivera into the dugout.

I'll never forget those laughable Grateful Dead tours.

He's got a point. Ortiz can't leave the house without getting death threats and he wouldn't dare go to Lansdowne.

Same with Pedro, Nomah, Okajima, Rice, Mo was an asshole so I get it, Cabrera, Ricky, Uehara, Foy, Oil Can, Henderson.....

SF Giants reportedly off Panda a 5/90 contract according to mlbrumors.

I'm surprised and hope that they don't go higher or longer. Let Boston or an AL team have him. If they don't get Sandoval for that much then use the $$$ to go after Yasmany Tomas.

Oakland is in serious discussions with Bret Butler.

St. Louis has thrown their hat into the ring for the Jon Lester sweepstakes. Can you imagine? That team seemingly gets better every year. After moving Miller they can add a Lester or Scherzer.

The M's are at least listening in on Hanley Ramirez. Adding his bat with Cano and Seager looks good on paper at least. He's going to command 6/120+ range, has DL issues, and behavior problems. I think a lot teams will steer clear, still he's a better option than Nelson ( Regression To The Mean ) Cruz.

There's gonna be some crazy ass moves coming up. I think when Panda signs it's going to start a chain reaction.

killeverything wrote:LAD "going all out" to trade for Alexi Ramirez. I wonder where Hanley ends up. Team or position wise. There is no way Friedman would trot him out at short.

SS free agents are slim this year.
LA don't have any choice, spend as much as they can on this one. I totally believe if LA had a SS last year it would have changed things. How many balls got past Hanley 1 step range?
The Dodgers have an excellent 2B and an expensive prospect. On the farm LA has two SS who can't hit their weight leaving them with going after Alexi Ramirez or stuck with a young fielding SS batting in the 8 hole and who knows how well he'll play if he does come up.

I'm glad Hanley turned down his qualifying offer or LA would have been stuck for another two years, to me with LA's staff without infield defense what good is it. Hanely was a liability regardless of his bat with that team. At his age he plays like he's 37.

I guess hanley has been working out at 3B but the way he plays SS, I don't think you can hide his glove.

How many years does Ortiz have left? If Boston can pick up and hide Hanley at 3B for a couple years he could be a solid replacement? Does Boston have anyone at 3B they couldn't afford to toss?

Are you truly not familiar with the amount of racism professional teams in Boston have been responsible for? The stories are well known. Google them.

Bret "Brett" Butler was one of my favorite Dodgers at the time, nick named Nat because you couldn't get him out....He could lay down a bunt with all 9 playing infield.

Not at all and while it still happens, you're referring to the past.

Panda. I don't want SF getting tied into a stupid 6 year contract with a guy who hit .279 last season.

I think Lester goes back to Boston and I believe that was his intention all along.

Reportedly Pablo left Boston without an offer. SF haa 5/90 on the table, but I would hope that they don't pass 5. They need to shore up their pitching since they have no idea which Matt Cain is going to return after surgery, Lincecum throws a no-no then rides the pine, and Hudson will be 41.. I also would make a run Tomas. He's younger and with Bos, NY, and LAD unable to bid their odds are higher to land him.

Seattle Mariners receive Comissioner's Award for philanthropic excellence in recognition of their domestic violence abuse program.

The Nats have made both Zimmerman and Fister available. That is perplexing to me, Washington as currently constructed are World Series contenders. The team to beat in the NL East.

Tomas is in Philly showing off his opposite field power. Philly want's him bad, but doesn't currently have the $ to do so. They want to trade Hammels, but Amaro want's way to much for him so it's not going to happen.

The Cubs have pulled back on the Lester talks and believe he's going back to Boston. Until he signs Boston can't be too aggressive with Panda, but it would be smart for Lester to get the MFY involved to drive up his price.

Totally. CSN doesn't even know what's going on. One sec, SF is out and there's a 90% chance he signs with Boston, 10% Chicago. Then it's still SF is the favorites to land him. As I stated earlier I hope SF doesn't go over 5 years without a serious incentive laden contract in place.

Mariners claim LHP Edgar Olmos off waivers from Miami. Olmos has a repeatable delivery, but an imconsistent release point. If he could fix that he could be an excellent set up man.

Speaking of Seattle, 13 years ago today they signed Japanese badass ( and eventual AL MVP & ROY ) Ichiro Suzuki.

#edit

I had it wrong. Ichiro wasn't signed today, he won the AL MVP.

Francisco suuuuuuuuuuuucks. So many strikeouts, even with the prodigious power he doesn't do enough of anything else to make up for it.

The Reds are trying to reduce payroll by making certain players available, such as Jay Bruce. Powerhitting OFs are a hot commodity right now so don't be surprised to see a move. Bruce's availability might also affect LA's thoughts on possibly moving Kemp.
