Listen, it's easy for us all to play armchair QB after the fact. In the middle of the field the split-second decision with 11 defensive players is a bit more difficult. We can all agree on that.
But somebody with nearly 20 years' experience in professional football HAS to know better than to throw across the field to a guy who really wasn't even an option on the play.
I was a WR in high school and a 3rd string QB that never saw game action. I've QBed my fair share of sandlot games, though, and even I would never attempt that play. Fuck, I wouldn't try it when playing Madden.

When Vilma switched to Cover 2 zone coverage, left cornerback Jabari Greer stayed in the flat and was in perfect position to cover Berrian. Favre's second read -- tight end Visanthe Shiancoe -- was negated by bracket coverage.
So much for the "open" receiver in the flat. Amazing how some people can spew so much bullshit without ever having a clue about what they're talking about.
So how exactly would this superman Greer, who's never been much more than a nickel back, break up the pass when he was 5 yards off and running downfield ?
Why hasn't this superman been all pro every year if he's capable of defying the laws of physics like that ?

Anyone with any football knowledge at all would know that even though Berrian appeared open to the naked eye, he was actually well covered by a DB who was ready to pounce on the ball should it be thrown in that direction. Favre had only two smart options in that play, throw it away, or run for a couple extra yards.
