Hasn't Romo already won a playoff game? It's not like that hasn't happened. Cowboys fans are acting like that would be discovering America or something.

Right now he's Danny White at best. Don't you guys want a little better?

Yes, Levi. I do.

But, realize this man..

Ryan Leaf,
Paul Justin,
Anthony Wright
Drew Henson
Chad Hutchinson
Quincy Carter
Clint Stoerner, Etc, etc, etc..

This FO has enough luck in picking a QB as the Browns or redskins do. LOL..

So.. Yeah, While he has choked. Romo is still a better than "good" QB and is the best that Dallas has had since Aikman. We Cowboys fans right now have to bet all in. Nobody is going to come in and save the day. It's Romo or bust for now. And, what sucks is, He is old. They just now are getting pieces in place. Hopefully that will continue with DL and Secondary next draft.

No way of another QB coming in right now and getting them to the Bowl and winning it..

In other words..

We Dallas fans are fucked and some of this team's players best years are going to be for not.

Sorry Mr. Witten.

Just answer this question: what is there to gain playing the starters in a meaningless game?

I'm not of the mind that playing starters is a terrible idea.

Remember the 17-1 Patriots?

Both they and the Giants played all their starters - and - played hard - in a meaningless final week game. The Giants played them very close, almost winning and almost ending the Pats' undefeated run.

A month later, they DID beat them in the Super Bowl.

I think momentum can count for something. The Cowboys aren't some juggernaught like the Broncos - they might be better served by keeping it all going. I can see both sides of it.

Of course they'll look really stupid if a key player gets hurt tomorrow. Just as they'd look stupid if they took the week off and all that crazy shit happened that actually could have got them a first-round bye.

I hope they play their starters and I hope the Redskins win.

Sit down and stand up straight because school is in session.
Dallas is having their best season in years. Momentum is trending in the right direction. The offense is rolling and the key figures are all playing at a high level.
The choices are down to 2
Sit the players to give them rest
or
Play them and allow the players to continue rolling, without any interruption.
Finishing the season properly(hopefully a W) and heading towards the playoffs on a positive note. Since Dallas has been so average the recent years why rest the players in week 17, ruin the rhythm of the team and pausibly cause a disruption to the chemistry it took 16 weeks to build.

That is why Dallas needs to treat this game like any other.

Huh. So it's the ONLY option?

And what happens if

a) Someone gets hurt (The Redskins tend to break Romo's back, literally)
b) they lose

Wouldn't that interrupt the momentum a bit?

Just playing devil's advocate here. PLENTY of teams have "kept rolling" all the way to the Super Bowl while resting starters in the last regular season game.

There is an arguement for each option. Some teams might react better by taking the week off and some might not. There is evidence for each in previous season.
With this team I feel like keeping the momentum going is the best choice.

What you wrote might happen but IMO, if the players were asked their choice, they would all say they want to play the game straight up and rest is not needed.

I know that it's just incredibly dumb to rest a guy who has a broken hand. I understand him playing last week. The division was not sewn up yet. This week there is nothing to play for.

LOL
I simply wrote that to see if just how hard you would make the attempt to do both
LOL

Anyway, Dallas has a lot to play for. The head coach has talked about having a different
mentality this season and how would it look if the head coach tells the team to not play hard
in the final game of the season?

It would make him smart.

I will say that I think Dallas will win one playoff game because they're going to get lucky and get Detroit who are not very good. After that they head to Green Bay. Good luck with that one.

Make no mistake. The team that terrifies me the most in entire league is GB. So I am hoping for GB to win tomorrow so Dallas can get the Lions in the 1st round.

How about the bad luck in Arizone? Stanton is having more trouble with his knee.

Getting Detroit in the first round is just delaying the meeting with Green Bay. The Packers will have the week of rest, they'll be in Lambeau, and they'll be ready to feast on a defense that has played over its head all year. It will be ugly.

The thing with Stanton is weird because he didn't receive any treatment through the team. Apparently he sought outside treatment and got an infection or something like that. How bad does Logan Thomas suck for Lindley to be starting?

By getting Arizona to 11 wins, Bruce Arians should get his own wing in Canton.

Yeah, Gritt, with ya on this one. I don't see any gain of Dallas playing their TWO MAIN starters on offense.. In this game. It isn't a meaningless at all IMO. Never is against the skins. But, not about to take away the two main reasons that Dallas could possibly get a sniff in the playoffs.

This defense can't handle a 4-11 team? Even on the road? Then, they will be golfing after the first playoff game anyhow. Heard Rolando is out for the game, but, I haven't heard about anyone else on Defense not playing.

#55 for Dallas has been ruled out. Maybe the decision has to do with his home in Alabama was burned to the ground earlier this year. Plus, he has missed games before or missed practices with nagging injuries.

Yeah, injuries and his house burning down.. Which was last week IIRC.

If this were last week. A game , a win needing to clinch. You can bet your ass he would be playing.

Still, even though the defense is immensely better with McClain in there. If this team or defense wants to make any noise in the playoffs. The defense, which seems will be playing their starters, need to make a statement. The League knows what the Cowboys have at offense, the defense is the make or break in what they do in the playoffs. Like all this year..

Actually, it has been this way for some time. Defense has never been up to par with the Offense IMO., since Romo's been at the helm. I guess there was one year where they had a shitload of players make the Pro Bowl. That year, I think was the 13-3 debacle against the Giants. Where, the defense and Crayton choked that game away.

Players like #55 and D. Free will benefit from not playing this week. Their nagging injuries can
use the time off. Murray is playing. He might not play 4 quarters but he will stay on the field until he surpasses E. Smith and the Dallas rushing record.
Nothing selfish about that. Murray has had a great year and getting that record probably means more to him than anybody is aware of.

In both of those cases. Especially in the Free case, Parnell is playing well and is filling in nicely..

Murray getting the record would be great, not as easy as it seems to get it and I still would question if that one self achievement is worth the risk. I think so, from a fan point of wanting him to do it and wanting to beat the redskins. Logic tells me no..

I am not against Romo and Murray playing some series in the game. But, if it looks like it did when they played last time or like that Thanksgiving game against the eagles? I would hope both would be on the sideline, because the team stunk it up in both of those games.

Romo is a hell of a QB but he cant carry a team on his back like an Elway. Romo is also a choker and since they've finally stuck to the run that hasn't been a problem. The NFC is up and down, they could face some unpredictable beatable teams in the playoffs.

Romo could go to the SB with a good system. Dallas for the most part has had the players, their system sucks. I picture what Romo would do on the Ravens, SF, Arizona this season.

It would be fun to watch Romo vs Manning in the choke bowl. Romo in the biggest game playing from behind all day would be great to watch.

You know, I read this thread every day and I usually keep my fucking trap shut lest I look like a goddamn idiot making "predictions" and whatnot.

Machado, you should follow my lead. You are truly the stupidest motherfucker to grace these boards in a long, long time. And you've got stiff competition from Dym, but man, you edge him out in this thread alone.

So much for not having stupid predictions:

None of this Dallas bullshit matters anyway. It'll be a Seahawks / Lions NFC Championship game.

See you in the Superbowl.

Elway needed a stout RB to win the Superbowl.. Your argument is fucking retard..

Romo has BEEN this team for the past few seasons. Dallas would of been much worse off without him. Bittersweet though. Maybe they could of drafted a QB in those years. And, still be sitting at home ala the eagles, redskins.. LOL

But, they're not. 4-0 in December.. That Monkey's off their back. Romo still made one stupid ass through and it cost him a perfect month.. THAT's the shit that has to stop. But, it won't. Hopefully , he can get bailed out again..

I am not sure if Dallas beats Lions. Or, the Packers.

Was fun watching beat the piss outta the sorry ass redskins. Dallas did what the better team was supposed to do today. Whip on a sorry ass team.

That's leaving the season on a high note for me. No matter how many hate the Cowboys in this world, it doesn't even come close to my hatred for the fucking redskins.. May they burn in NFL hell forever..

No team in the NFC South has ever won back to back championships...You watch football right? Panthers may be a threat in the playoffs.. Not getting to excited but they have looked great lately... No need to be a dick... Dick...
