So now the NFL admits they missed a hold on Suh on the Dallas fourth and six conversion.
The incompetence of the officials in the league is terrible.

Unfair to blame the officials. The blame goes to the league. Goodell.Gritt wrote:So now the NFL admits they missed a hold on Suh on the Dallas fourth and six conversion.

An all-star crew is just about the worst decision that can be made.
These guys probably never worked together. The officials are not familiar with one another and more mistakes are going to be made.
It's bad enough that officials are not full time employees in the NFL, but to compound the problem with all star crews. I feel sorry for the officials.

I wonder when the NFL will admit to the other "missed calls" during the game?Gritt wrote:So now the NFL admits they missed a hold on Suh on the Dallas fourth and six conversion.

Probably not. There are missed calls in every single NFL game. Not just this playoff game.
Why did the official on the play involving Hitchens not call the Detroit player for a facemask penalty? The video clearly shows the player had his hand inside the mask. Nobody complains about that.
STFU already. Move on.

Re: The NFL Thread
Is Mike Shanahan a good fit in Chicago? He had Cutler in Denver.
He was won 2 Super Bowls but those were with Elway. His record without Elway is not very good.
IMO, the only fit for him would be in Chicago but even that is a stretch. There has to be a younger head coach candidate out there instead of Shanahan.

Earlier today the NFL admited the officials of the Lions vs Dallas game missed
7 penalties on the Lions. WOW!!!
The crew asked to work the game was supposed to be a crew that individually graded well during the season. They each picked the worst time to have a bad day.

Re: The NFL Thread
I'm concerned about Rodgers leg issues. If he's not very mobile I think the Cowboys could very well win this game.
It sucks for any team to get this far and then the # 1 player for them to be injured.

Re: The NFL Thread
That does suck for Packers fans.. But, just like if Romo was out or injured for the .. Oh wait, yeah, he is and has been for half of the season. LOL..
As well as the Defense's Sean Lee, who, really to me isn't a huge loss, considering how McClain, Carter, Hitch have been playing.
Hitch is hurt too. Along with Free at RT.. All teams have injuries..
I hear ya though. Rodgers is their #1.
Rodgers will man up and play, and play well. If Dallas's offense doesn't get going quickly. It's going to be ugly.
And, I PRAY , PRAY that the #2 QB for the Packers stays on the sidelines.

Just learned this yesterday-The Packers do not practice on Friday's. Very interesting. Whatever works for them I guess. Since Rodgers has the bum calf, how much will the lack of practice hurt his game or the game plan?eddie lee roth wrote:I'm concerned about Rodgers leg issues. I don't care if the reports of his calf are true, if the guy is on the field he is still a great QB.
Read the temperature will be in the 20's. No chance of precipitation. Which is great news. No need for Ice Bowl II

Re: The NFL Thread
Game would be called if the weather was even close to what it was for the Ice Bowl IMO.
Agree Mach.. Bum calf or not. Rodgers is a great QB and will hopefully take this day to no play at his best. LOL

Re: The NFL Thread
NFL network aired a 90 minute version of the Ice Bowl game earlier this week. Followed by the entire 1995 NFC Championship game played in Dallas. Was interesting to see how much has changed in the game 19 years later.Bludegeon wrote:Game would be called if the weather was even close to what it was for the Ice Bowl IMO.

The great Ed Hochuli was the ref and this was before his popeye arms were formed.
RT Erik Williams took out a GB defensive tackle with a vicious cut block.
Reggie White was unable to defeat Williams that day on a consistent basis.
Favre threw an interception in the 4th quarter to seal the Dallas victory.

Re: The NFL Thread
While we are all jogging down memory lane, I watched the highlights of the Redskins' amazing 1991 season last night, one of the greatest (and certainly the most overlooked) offensive teams in NFL history. Their kicker outscored an entire team (the Colts) that season.
Virtually every play is a late hit, helmet to helmet, horse collar, you name it.
People like Fat Truther can't stop whining about it, but the game certainly has changed for the better. Watching those highlights I'm amazed at the constant carnage, none drawing a foul, all of which would today.

I love how people are not giving the Panthers a chance in hell to win. I think they will shock a lot of people. Sucks that Star is hurt but I think the team will be ok. Defense is looking great.
Go Panthers!!

Preach it. There was a vicious facemask on the Dallas vs GB 1995 game I mentioned earlier that if it were today, the media would have a field day talking about the unnecessary roughnessCrazy Levi wrote:While we are all jogging down memory lane, I watched the highlights of the Redskins' amazing 1991 season last night, one of the greatest (and certainly the most overlooked) offensive teams in NFL history. The game 2 decades ago was much rougher. All you have to see if the games are being played an artificial turf. Which is concrete covered with thin padding.

Ahhh my favorite team ever. I loved the NFC title game when the fans were rocking the bleachers so hard I thought they were going to come down. I don't get the butthurt - despite being only the second losing team to make the playoffs in NFL history, most people seemed to think they'd beat the QB-less Cardinals - which they did. People haven't been picking on the Panthers so I don't get the sensitivity.
But this week? You have to be fucking nuts.
I'm not giving the Panthers a chance in hell to win in Seattle. Are you officially saying they will, or do you just think they won't get embarrassed and that alone will be enough to "shock" people?

I attended three RFK games that season - an early MNF demolition of the Eagles, that game against the Oliers when the Skins won in OT after the Oliers' kicker missed a chip shot, and a blowout win against the Browns. It was a great season.Gritt wrote:Ahhh my favorite team ever. I loved the NFC title game when the fans were rocking the bleachers so hard I thought they were going to come down. I think I went to a game against the Falcons the following season and that was the last football game I saw at RFK. That place was great. Did catch a Nationals game there.

I hate new stadiums. They kill all the charm and homefield advantage. The only one lately that is worth a shit is Seattle.

Anyhow, Carolina and that defense had a legit chance to shock the world(or Seattle). Nobody is giving them a chance. That's a great way to play-with a chip on the shoulder.
