The bigger picture, this loss puts SF 1 game behind and I bet anything this is where the Giants finally take over the West for good within a week. Even if LAD lands a pitcher I don't think it's going to change things. The Giant's have reeled LAD in so many times in the second half I'm use to it. Saying it now. Giant's finally take over the West inside a week and hold onto it for a while.
I'm not big on Hamels, not impressed, too high of price. David Price would be nice addition. Major problem, Zak will probably opt out of his contract at the end of the year. It's because of fucking LESTER'S big contract and Scherzer's that made Zak more then likely opt out. Forget about LAD made him the richest paid right hander ever when they signed him.
Losing Ryu so early is what hurt the Dodgers chances. 6 pitchers on the IR. 2 starting pitchers go down with Tommy John in May.
Zak's streak ends....45.2IP
A hit batter, an error flubbed lopper, and a fielders choice for the RBI...Joc flubbing the ball sending the runner to 3rd ruined it. Shitty way to end. It probably would have happened anyway but the score keepers explanation was stupid. I say it's R not ER. Predicting how it would have turned out. That error changed everything.
I knew the long break and the new baby would end the streak today. Still pitched good but he wasn't in a zone, 7IP 2ER 3BB 3SO. Almost as many walks as he did in the 44IP.
Impressive streak tho, not allowing a run in 45.2 innings, batters were hitting .094 against his fastball and he walked only four batters.

The Streak was cool but I remember Orel Hershiser's 59 scoreless innings like it was yesterday. I watched a few games but listened to most all of them on the radio, spent the summer inside painting my first dumpy house listening to Vin Scully all season till the World Series.
Odd how I can so vividly remember games from 1988 when I listened to all of them on the radio. The finish was catching every game all the way to the WS. Kirk Gibson and Orel....They could win this year and it wont top that season.
I watched the game when Orel came out in the 10th to break it.
Oh, the old shit you never forget.

Johnny Cueto and cash considerations in exchange for THREE young left-handed pitchers Brandon Finnegan, John Lamb and Cody Reed. The 25-year-old Finnegan has a 3-0 record and 2.96 ERA in a relief role this season, while Lamb and Reed are currently in the minors.
That fucking sucks but he comes with injuries!......Funny how I use to root for KC up till last year, Now I can't stand them.

As far and Puig selling shirts, I don't think he's that popular with dodger fans anymore. This time last year he exploded but from September 2014 on through the playoffs I think more hate him.
I read a good post....Puig is the Rasheed Wallace of the MLB. Many LAD fans mentioned trading him for Cespedes it's that bad inside the Blue.

More juiced records..... David Ortiz hit's in 7RBI's.
With 7 RBIs, Ortiz passes 3 Hall of Famers Red Sox slugger hops Kaline, Killebrew and Hornsby for 38th place all-time

It's funny going back to the first of the season thinking the Padres spending money meant trouble. You can't always by the World Series, ask the Yankees, they've been doing it and trying since the game was invented.
----
The Padres are “pushing hard” to trade big-name stars, executives from other teams tell Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. Obviously, Justin Upton, Will Venable and Ian Kennedy are clear trade candidates, since those players are due to become free agents after the season. But James Shields, Andrew Cashner and Craig Kimbrel, who all are controlled beyond 2015, have also come up very frequently in talks, according to Heyman. Other possibilities include Tyson Ross, who’s due for free agency after 2017, and Joaquin Benoit, whose contract contains a club option for 2015.
Does this mean the Padres gave it a shot and go back to being mediocre?
