Why? He tried to suspend Braun once, did suspend him, tried to ban him. He probably hates Braun more than Asteriskrod.
Sure he tried. I am sure Bud gave his very best with the Braun case.

Nice sweep Oakland.
Today - A. Wood 5IP 3ER, A FUCKING AGAIN Jimmy Johnson .1IP 2H 1BB 2ER = Both Atlanta pick ups so Oakland beat Atlanta today. When and what do you do with this terrorist. 21.00ERA .500BA

Yesterday - Kershaw 7IP 1ER, followed by 3B turned pitcher Baiz .1IP 3H 3ER.

So the Dodgers pick up Utley, no clue why. Sure Kendrick is still on the DL, while kicking around young Enrique Hernandez who's hitting .300+ in platoon action, I think he's groomed enough.
Maybe it was to keep Utley from the Giants or Cubs, everyone is on the DL but whatever. Maybe Chase can move to the Bull Pen.

As it was said, Utley is a good pick up but he can't get anyone out in the 8th.

I agree, ARoid is the biggest crook who continues to disgrace the game and fuck Selig for not having a backbone to hold a lifetime ban. ARoid makes Pete Rose look like Todd Helton.
Rose only embarrassed himself.

I was reading Bleachers most loved players and when you clicked to number 1 it said AROD! Followed by.........JUST KIDDING!

SF acquires Marlon Byrd from Reds for AA pitcher Stephen Johnson and cash. SF's out field was dangerously thin with Pence being out so this move was expected.

Gincarlo Stanton eyeing September 1st return.

The union wouldn't let him suspend him, so yeah, he tried. Just like he tried to ban Asteriskrod.

Also, what the fuck are you saying "FU" to me for, taco-bender? I had nothing to do with it. Idiot.

The Dodgers and the Giants are in a fight to see who wants to lose the West.

LAD has been hanging by a thread while the Giants limp right along with them.

In 1988 we probably had mullets. In the 25 years since the Giants have come from behind to take over the division and win how many WS since?

I like your idea better tho. Maybe it's an omen.

Bumgarner hit a two-run homer yesterday? 5th of the year?

Maybe Bum should send Max Alka Scherzer a wooden bat with a VHS tape of Mike Epstein hitting instruction video and might as well include Epstein's revolutionary defensive drills video......With Fred McGriff's full endorsement of course.

Just another great player who wore the Yankee uniform and
was a winner. More retired numbers to come for this franchise.

The best in baseball.

As of yesterday morning, the Cubs sit at 68-51, third in the N.L. Central, but with a 4.0 game lead for the second wild card.

Their .571 winning percentage is the third best in the N.L. and the fourth best in baseball.

While they are 8.5 games behind STL and 4.0 behind PIT in the division, they would be leading:

The N.L. East by 4.5 games over the Mets.
The N.L. West by 1.5 games over the Dodgers.
The A.L. East by 1.5 games over the Yankees.
The A.L. West by 3.5 games over the Astros.

Remarkable.

Even tho it sucked on your end it provided me with one of the greatest moments in sports history, a point in time I'll never forget. Even where I was and how everything came together including that entire season was incredible. I could write 200 pages and still couldn't cover how that year and series went down. It still raises the hairs on my neck.
I watched what I could but listed to almost every game that year with Scully.

Not to pour salt in the wound, is there anywhere I can but the dvd's to that series or watch it? I'm sure there's a stream but I'd pay to find a good quality version. I'll have to do a search or something, any help, thanks.

Talk about old school. The Dodgers and Giants are going at it in the NL West once again, and to make things more exciting, they don't even have a Wild Card to fall back on right now. Two hated rivals, one playoff spot.

Everyone loves a good pennant race, but when there's history between the two clubs, that race gets taken to another level. The Dodgers are 0-3 in Clayton Kershaw's three starts vs. San Francisco this season (none since mid-May). They have won the last two division titles, but the Giants have three World Series in the past half-decade.

These two clubs square off seven more times this season -- all Aug. 31 or later -- and you won't find September baseball

Two teams enter, one team leaves.

It's all good, ya win some and ya lose some! I was just razzin' Kill! You know, I'm not sure on the DVD's or YouTubes of that series. You would think there would be something but I'm just not sure!
Think I found it! I hope it has all the games.
DVD on amazon, sounds like it has the WS games including the build up and beating the favored 100 Win Met's team.

Los Angeles Dodgers 1988 World Series Collector's Edition - If my mouse last long enough I'm buying it. there's also DVD's that include teams WS history's. I might grab that one. I remember the 81 series like I do 88, I was jumping up and down. NY beat up LAD in the WS a couple times at the end of the 70's till Fernandez came along and gave a fuck you to MR October.

Posting tag. My mouse is fucking up making it a bitch to surf. I'm going to pick that up and maybe the other one that includes the other WS history wins and stuff.

I still remember my gut sinking when Dennis Eckersley took the mound and I kept saying put in Gibson, put in Gibson...Then they said he was in the hallway, I felt like I knew it was going to happen till he fouled off a ball and looked like a penguin hobbling back to the plate. Then I was scared again.

Fucking killed me.

Another one I'll never forget, my GF was at the SF Airport headed home during the quake. She crossed the bay bridge to get there, it was crazy as fuck. She came back a different chick. Then the WS took a backseat and was delayed over a week. I didn't grab the attention because of the chaos and that the series was a walk in the park for the A's.
I don't know how the bay area people felt during the games, I remember it giving some life back into all the death and darkness that quake caused.

I knew my GF's flight time and I knew she had to cross the bridge, I was kind of tripping. She managed to make a late call just to check in. She was young at the time and it really changed her personality, like she grew up over night. It totally changed our relationship.

Wow.....INTENSE! I couldn't even fathom what you two went through! I was 11 at the time and living in Long Beach. My best friend and I were watching the WS when the quake hit. He swears he felt it, I didn't feel it but I just remember being freaked out by the news reports throughout the rest of the evening. My Mom, who lived in Kansas, was calling all tripped out because of the news!

Being a kid from Wichita, KS. who had only been in Cali for a year at that point, my 1st quake was a surreal experience. It was the Newport Beach quake of April 1989.

I was at school, remembering back it is like it happened in slo-mo but I remember feeling a wave under my feet, then a sound like a huge boulder rolling towards us then a whole lotta shakin'! I sat there unsure what to do, stunned and the girl sitting next to me dumped me outta my chair and pulled me under the desk. A few seconds later the light fixtures fell from the ceiling smashing across the desks.

I moved to Haysville, Kansas, a suburb of Wichita in February 1990 to live with an Aunt and Uncle. On April 26, 1991, I was IN the Haysville, KS. tornado. I was hangin' at a buddy's house after track practice when the sirens went off. We opened the patio door and there it was a half mile away comin' straight for us. We got our asses in the basement quick!

It started outside of Clearwater, up through Haysville, McConnell AFB & Wichita and did the most damage in Andover. Odd that in two years time I went through an earthquake and survived a tornado!

https://youtu.be/W--gsQgTpnA
Fucking '89, man. I was a little kid ( 11 I think ) living in Houston. I had on my Will Clark Giants hat bought for my birthday at Candlestick ( where I watched the boys beat St. Louis ). Anyways I was already pissed knowing they were probably facing a sweep. I had no confidence going into that series with Oakland having Dave Stewart and a highly juiced Canseco and McGwire.

Anyways the quake hits and the tv goes to that bar thing when the screen goes off. I remember calling like crazy to my fam back in SF. What a shitty time. I'm not a Reds fan but love them for 1990.

What's funny is my ( favorite ) aunt now lives in Berkeley and in the process is all about the A's and Raiders. I live in and go to school in Portland but when I was back visiting last ( for the WS '14, left game 5 ) she wanted to get me a '89 WS shirt while snickering. Cute. I'm still pissed about that one. Not necessarily the loss ( I didn't think they would beat the A's that year ), I was pissed about the sweep. At least put up a fight, Goddamnit.

My Aunt gets a kick out of still fucking with my uncle and I ( not her husband uncle. He's an A's fan too ) about '89. Yeah, it's the glory years for us right now but that one still stings.

As for LAD and SF right now. Latos' start was skipped so the upcoming series is Kershaw and Greinke on the mound. No matter how well each team does neither hold a candle to even the 3rd place team in the Central. Fuck that is a tough division. I think the Cubbies are on the verge of greatness, but if I was a bettin' man ( I am, not sig bets though ) I don't think anyone is beating the Cardinals.

*ETA

Mariners DFA Fernando Rodney, option Farquarer to AAA. McClendon was rumored to be calling him to designated for a while now. Tonight's blown save was the final straw. The corresponding move was to call up Elias.

The M's coaching staff sucks. Elias has a lot of talent but hasn't put it together. They lose Erasmo Ramirez and low and behold he starts pitching well.

Great story's to hear and relive, I bet you'll never forget that tornado. In small town Nebraska "pop 450" around 1981 we had a Tornado rip through the middle of town. It hit after midnight, as a preteen I wasn't freaked out till it was on us, then the sound of destruction that took over was so indescribable I'll never get it out of my head. Seeing the devastation in the morning still leaves me speechless. It was so long ago, hell I cant remember some of the chicks I fucked but I can recall ten thousand details about the insane nature of living though a Tornado. I'm just pissed there was no sharks.

I feel old as fuck listening to Kill, in 89 while he was 11 I was 2 years out of high school acting like I was 11. Except with beer....And chicks...And jobs.
Beer, chicks, jobs and sports sums up 1989. KILL, I dig your aunt. Old Raider fans! I'd see a game with her. Seniors who get into teams are a hoot. I'd watch Rockies games with old family members and they're a blast. Down right awesome to watch get railed up. The ones who never swear but during a game...They slay me.

Mad respect D2W for following the A's down the stretch while the teams in the shadows. I still follow my other favorite teams in bad seasons but...
LAD's win over the Red's today put them at 2.5 up, they've been bouncing .5 to 3.5 for ever and it's hard to pull up the report every day. It's that gut feeling of watching them falter towards the end too many times to the Giants over the last decade or so. I feel like I'm French or a chick who closes her eyes before running over an animal or crashing a car.

LAD breaks their 5 game losing streak and 8 game road skid vs the Reds today. yaaaaaaa...............Kershaw was vocal before the game telling the team to pull their head out of their ass. Actually it was we're in panic mode and need to play like with a sense of urgency.

Howie Kendrick's Aug 7th hamstrings went from 3 weeks to maybe the middle of September. Mother fucker. Utley is still playing well since coming over, so good on him. Hope he makes me eat my words and turns into a big help.

Howie Kendrick's Aug 7th hamstrings went from 3 weeks to maybe the middle of September. Mother fucker. Utley is still playing well since coming over, so good on him. Hope he makes me eat my words and turns into a big help.
I don't think whomever wins the NL West is passing making it past the Central. As I stated earlier SF's season IMO was dependent on Cain. He's not used to his new release point yet so unless a move to Sacramento to work on it ( he has options + veteran's rights ), I think his contributions this season are done. LAD still has the same issues plaguing them and they have Mattingly at the helm.

Now for the Central. What the Cards have done with their injuries ( their ace is out for the season ) is pretty awesome and the Cubs are coming into their own. I think Chicago is about to surprise a lot of people.

As for the AL it's all Toronto. Donaldson has surpassed Trout for the MVP. While Tulowitzki's slash line is nothing to be scared of right now ( 207/.316/.366 in 82 AB since the trade ), it has to fuck with opposing pitchers having a cleanup hitter leading off. Then you've got Donaldson, Bautista, and Encarcion. That's another Murderer's Row. Oh, and David Price.

KC has played very well, but something about them just doesn't scream champions to me. I thought SF would finish them in 5 last year though. I just see Toronto as the team to beat in the AL. If the Blue Jays go deep into the playoffs I think Price signs there too. They're almost the exact same team and he said he wants to go somewhere competitive.

This season is fun as hell.

Cherington was at the SABR conference in Boston the other day. Among the questions asked one of them was basically "what the hell?" in regards to the Hanley/Fat Panda signings. He openly discussed their failure at believing his transition to the OF would be successful.

Those were stupid, stupid, stupid pickups. Both are on the decline, both are noted clubhouse problems, both are 1B/DHs in the waiting, neither can pitch.

Where Boston has so beautifully failed was going away from Epstein and Hoyer's rebuild. They have a loaded farm with plus level replacements at those positions. If they don't sign one of the big FA starting pitchers they'll finish in last next season too. They'll have to compete with both LAs, NY, WAS, Toronto, and possibly more.

Losing Werner and Lucchino was a boost to the FO but NY and the Jays are going to be dominating the East for a while now.

Justin Verlander took no hitter into the 9th. I see Matt Cain as a serious comeback option, Verlander is in that category too. Although I have no idea why he struggled the past 1 1/2 - 2 years, I haven't seen any scouting reports. I wouldn't count on him being Cy/MVP caliber again but I could see him being very good.
