Machado wrote:Former Los Angeles Dodgers and Seattle Mariners outfielder Milton Bradley has been charged with abusing his estranged wife and faces up to 13 years in jail if convicted, city prosecutors announced Friday.

Bradley, 34, was charged on Thursday with 13 misdemeanor counts of assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism and dissuading a witness from making a report.

In addition to jail time, Bradley could face up to $13,000 in fines and restitution if convicted.

He remained free pending a scheduled Jan. 24 arraignment.

Prosecutors contend that Bradley threatened and attacked his wife five times in 2011 and 2012. He was twice arrested at the home in 2011.
That guy is seriously fucked up. He had one of those dads that practically beat him into being a major leaguer and it left him scarred for life. He had an attitude coming up in the Expos organization, it got worse when he made the majors, and has contiued every step of the way. Shame.

Hell, if you're a young black ball player, and can't get along with Felipe Alou, and learn from him, you ain't gonna make it...

Yep, Milton Bradley is one seriously fucked up individual. Even if he was currently the bee's-knees of baseball players, I STILL would NOT want him anywhere NEAR my team, hell, not even at league minimum. Just an all-around cancer.

With LaRoche signed and who knows what the fuck is going on with Napoli, the Red Sox have inquired about pushed aside 1B/LF Mike Morse.

This. Biggio's numbers are amazing. If he's not a hall of famer, I don't know what is. I get the whole PED protest bullshit, but Biggio has never had a whiff of suspicion about PEDs and it's complete crap that he gets screwed so the writers can punish Bonds and Clemens.

Biggio should have been a shoo-in.

I also think Jack Morris should've made the cut. If Bert Blyleven is in the HOF, then Morris should be, too. And for the sake of argument, most people think when Andy Pettite becomes eligible, he'll be a shoo-in also. But if you look at their numbers, they're all quite similiar to one another.

That's nuts. Ten years ago I would have laughed if someone told me Palmeiro,McGwire,Bonds,Piazza,Clemens, and Bagwell weren't first year hall of famers. It's a fucking joke.
I might be the minority but I could care less if they used performance enhancement drugs, they were fuckin great talented athletes regardless of size. I bet you Lou Ferigno couldn't hit 600 home runs.

Was Bagwell ever linked to ped? Is that why he's not in?

Steroids and HGH might not make an average person into a HOF'er, but they could certainly turn an average ballplayer into one.

Example:
Player is a .250 hitter with warning track power who hits 10-12 HR's a year. The guy would be a utility infielder or 4th outfielder, potentially a starter for a small market team.

Add some steroids and HGH and now 30 of what would have been warning track outs are now HR's. He's now a .300 hitter with 40+ HR's. All-star. Keep that up for 12-13 years and he's looking at Cooperstown.

That case certainly applies to several of those guys who are now up for nomination. Ironically, skinny Barry Bonds was a clear cut HOF'er prior to ever sticking a needle in his ass and would have been natural 500/500 guy. But he should never get in because of his cheating. What those guys did was far worse than anything Pete Rose or Shoeless Joe ever did.

No, but he was a big guy that hit homers in the steroid era, so there is gonna be suspicion. His career ended just shy of the 500 homer mark due to injury. That's why he hasn't gotten in yet. He may not ever make it. He was a great player, but he's kind of a bubble guy with his numbers. Biggio on the other hand is a no brainer.

The Napoli shit is over as he signs for 1yr/5mil with incentives that could bring it up to 13mil.

Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter says he’s been cleared to start baseball activity in his recovery from a broken left ankle.

The 38-year-old team captain reiterated Wednesday that he is on track to be in New York’s starting lineup for the opener on April 1.

Jeter won’t take the field for workouts until later this month. The 13-time All-Star said that is his normal pre-spring training routine.

“I’ve got the OK to start,” Jeter said before a launch party for his Turn 2 Foundation Celebrity Golf Classic. “But I don’t start until next week or the week after, anyway. In terms of baseball activity, I’m right where I need to be.”

The Red Sox signed six of their remaining seven arbitration-eligible players to one-year contracts.

Jacoby Ellsbury - 9mil.
Joel Hanrahan - 7.04mil
Andrew Bailey - 4.1mil
Alfredo Aceves - 2.65mil
Franklin Morales - 1.487mil
Andrew Miller - 1.475

This leaves Craig Breslow who has asked for 2.375mil and the Sox have offered 2.325mil so a deal should be reached soon.

Take a look at his numbers. Even though he's in the hall, he's never brought up in the same breath as the standard greats along with Ruth, Aaron, Mays etc.

Second all time in total bases. 7 batting titles. He may be the most underated player of all time.

So sad that we lost both Stan The Man & Earl Weaver on the same day. It was definitely a sad day for baseball. Many of you have probably heard this before, but in case you haven't check out this classic Earl Weaver radio spot. It's hilarious and definitely NSFW.

Police say former Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Elijah Dukes has been arrested on a warrant related to previous drug charges.

Tampa police say the 28-year-old Dukes was arrested Monday night. He's also been charged with an additional count of driving with a suspended license.

Records show Dukes had failed to appear in court for charges related to a February 2012 arrest.

That's when police say they pulled over Dukes during a routine traffic stop and caught him trying to eat marijuana out of a bag. He was charged with tampering with physical evidence, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Dukes was in jail Tuesday with no bail set.

Big trade. Braves have a lot of money invested in the
Upton brothers

The Atlanta Braves have agreed to a trade to acquire outfielder Justin Upton and third baseman Chris Johnson from the Arizona Diamondbacks for pitcher Randall Delgado, infielder Martin Prado and minor leaguers Nick Ahmed, Brandon Drury and Zeke Spruill, sources tell ESPN.

Pedro Martinez is now an assistant to the Red Sox GM. It's cool to have Pedro around again. His interviews will eb the most entertaining think about the Sox this year.

Is it wrong to think that this is the best signing the Sox have made in about 5 years?
