Reports that Oakland is close to acquiring Zobrist and Yescobar from the Rays.

Billy Beane is so fricking weird.

Yeah, I was coming here to post that. No one saw that coming, especially with the reports that he was going to be traded to SF.

They did it for John Jaso and prospects. No one seems to want to keep Jaso and with how Oakland/Melvin used role players I'm surprised to see him go.

Daniel Robertson sounds like a whole lotta potential. 20 year-old SS with a nice bat.

But yeah, the Athletics' infield some games could be Lawrie, Escobar, Zobrist and Ike Davis with Billy Butler DHing. What the fuck?

It's the Hall Of Fame, not the Hall Of The Very Good. Fuck that guy. His eligibilty is over now too. It's funny as hell listening to him whine about it. Want to be in the Hall, Jack? You should have been better, fuckhead.
Actually, he pitched very well for the Tigers in '84(when they won the WS), the Twins(when they won the WS) and Toronto(when they won the WS, twice. Well, the second one w/Toronto wasn't very good. But he pitched well for 3 of the four.).

Your statement can apply to Raines too(and a few others), not the hall of the VG, it's the HOF. Raines obviously doesn't have the stats to get in on the ballot, so it's a crap shoot if he'll get in at all from the BBWC.

Love the city, hate the team, the stadium and the atmosphere. I'm sure there will be fans rooting for all sorts of other teams already there. Except the Giants and Dodger haters.

The big rumor is the Nats have a 7 year deal on the table for overated Cy Young winner Max Scherzer. Also rumored is if they can sign Scherzer, Strasburg is on the trading block.

The Nats have to be one of the stupidest orgs in baseball. I was always a Matt Williams fan as a kid, because of his 3B with SF and being on the team that beat the MFY in 2001.

That said I feel sorry for DC. They are learning Stephen Strasburg ain't King Felix, and Bryce Harper ain't Mike Trout. With everything seen so far, those are some dumb motherfuckers.

Texas Rangers acquire Yovani Gallardo from Brewers for IF Luis Sardinas, RP Corey Knebel, and 18 year old RHP Marcos Diplan.

Stephen Strasburg is very much on the trade block, but WAS plans to keep Zimmerman and go for it all in 2015. They are obviously WS favorites after signing Scherzer and with their 96 win season last year they're favorited to win the East.

SF and Gregor Blanco agree to 2/7.5m deal.

Angels release Yoslan Herrera who play in Nippon Professional League.

Astros in serious discussions with RHP Ryan Vogelsong.

Would like to see him stay with the Giants. His best years were in SF. He worked hard to squeeze whatever he could out of his career, and he's a heart and soul guy on the team. You could do worse for a 4th/5th starter. Can't begrudge the guy for making a living though.

I don't think he's in their budget and with Petit able to be in the back of the rotation or BP I could see him as expendable, but then again I never know what Sabean is thinking. Yet 3 in 5, he seems to know what he's doing.

Cubs trade for Dexter Fowler with Houston Astros in exchange for RHP Dan Straily and IF Luis Valbuena. Houston has a surplus of OF and Fowler will net a first round pick for Chicago too.

I didn't get to see this vid of the newest HOF inductees talking about their signature pitches. RJ's slider, Smoltz's split finger to LHH and Pedro's God change up. Check out Pedro's long ass fingers and how he's jointed in them so they naturally bend unnaturally backward.

http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/7417714/v3 ... s-pitchers

Also, because it still makes me laugh Pedro said his favorite player to throw at was Dumbo.

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-l ... 32679.html

The HOF players Top 10 on Letterman. Watch the whole clip it's pretty funny.

Someone needs to tell the Nats the reg. season and the playoffs are 2 totally different seasons.

On paper that rotation looks very formidable. Moves Strasburg to the No. 4 starter.
Maybe the team trades Strasburg or Zimmerman for the 1 big bat the team is missing??

Bryce Harper swings a pretty big bat and they need a 2B.

All accounts are it's Strasburg ( 2 years of control, Boras client ) that's on the trade block. Both sides feel it's time to move on. Strasburg is a very good young pitcher but is reportedly a prickly type that is hard to deal with.

He'll require a ransom to acquire and as a Boras client there is no way he signs an extension. I don't see who would trade for only two guaranteed years of him. That seems like something Real Men Of Baseball Genius Dave Stewart would do, but I don't think AZ has the chips.

That's the thing. Every team would love to have Strasburg but who would trade for him, knowing that they'd only get a year out of him? Sounds like a Yankee move but I have no idea if they have the pieces to get him. That said, watch the Angels give up what farm system they have for him.

I can't see one team not wanting Strasburg. The problem aside from the prospects it will require is he's guaranteed to not sign an extension. Look at how it worked out for Scherzer.

As for the Kiss T, if your a fan why not? It's a pretty funny novelty item.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Alex Rodriguez has been working out with Barry Bonds this offseason. The hitting sessions have occurred at a facility where both pros and young amateurs work out each offseason.

No secret Bonds worked with several Giants hitters last season. I guess those sessions worked since the team went on to win the WS.

On record you have 1 player that has admitted to using and the other player has only been accused. Let's get the story straight now :)

SF resign Vogelsong 1/4m + performance bonuses.

Cubs and Fowler avoid arbitration with 9.5m deal.

Braves sign Gomes to one year deal.

Oakland and Sogard avoid arbitration.

Bud Selig has served his final day as MLB Commish.
Of course he will be known as the Commish who made the owners a lot of money
and in turn the players a lot of money. Fans of him will not mention how he turned
the other way during the steroid era. Another fucking scam artist who walks away
a wealthy man for not doing his job to the best of his ability.

New commish Manfred is discussing outlawing the "Williams Shift" in an effort to up the offense. He is also considering putting a time limit on pitchers between pitches. Fuck you. I hope that doesn't happen.
