Jason Giambi announces retirement. Even though he admitted to using
steroids and/or PED's, Giambi seems to get a more than fair shake from the
fans and media.
Yankees signed him to that big contract after he played so well for the A's, but even Giambi could not bring a title to The Bronx. I figured when he signed with NYY, Giambi was going to win another MVP or maybe even two.

Red Sox paid the most money. Reports are they offered $13 million more than the Yankees best offer.
Sox signed the kid for a $31.5 million signing bonus.
That's a lot of dollars for a 19 year old kid

He's got a lot of potential, but the biggest red flag is his play in championship games or against heightened competition. He hits something like .260 - .270. While that's not bad, it's not exactly superstar either. He's only 19, but doesn't seem to handle pressure to well. A few analysts were put off by it.
Speaking of prospects and disappointments. Jurickson Profar officially out for the season with shoulder injury/surgery.
ARod reported to camp 3 days early. Surprised a lot of critics and a lot of HATERS.
Him showing up early simply proves that ARod is dedicated to the team. He said all the right
things today during his 10 minute session with reporters.

How many millions of dollars is he fighting for again?
I bet it's dedication because he's a "true" Yankee. In fact I can't think of a player that better personifies the MFY than Alex Rodriguez.

I want to say the number is 61 million. That's a lot of dollars. The guy wants to get paid and rightfully so. The team signed a contract. PED's or not he is owed that money, short of committing murder.
Read that Curt Schilling approached ARod yesterday at the Yankees complex and personally apologized to ARod for being critical of him in the last few years.
Caught me by surprise. I wonder if the cancer scare put some things in perspective for Schilling. He's a player who goes out of his way to say he played the game clean and has gone out of his way to criticize PED users.
Schilling is getting soft in his old age
Read today that the new Commish of MLB is thinking abou reducing the number
of games played during the reg. season to 154.
Great idea. About time the season was shortened. About time the WS is played in early to mid October, not late Oct or the beginning of November.
How many years did MLB play a 154 game schedule? I want to say at least 5 decades. If it was good enough before nothing wrong with that idea now.

If they didn't add more games no one would have surpassed Babe Ruth's 60 HRs.

It's all rumor right now, but it appears he's confessing to doing coke again before he gets caught. Apparently MLB is figuring out what to do, since he didn't fail any drug tests.
Addiction is a bitch, and as a person I wish him the best. As a player, though, if he was to vanish from the Angels it would be a beautiful day. Kinda like how the Yankees fans feel about A-Rod (except the person thing).
And the winner of the 1st freak injury in the 2015
MLB season goes to a Toronto Blue Jay
Toronto Blue Jays left fielder Michael Saunders tore the meniscus in his left knee. Will be out until the All-Star break
