I think If Hunt actually had time to prepare that fight would've looked a lot different. Wouldn't it been awesome if we were able to call Mark Hunt a UFC champ, even if if is the fake championship.
I'm not a fan of Werdum whatsoever. Cain will maul him to death & Dos Antos will beat him again as well.
Kinda think that was a lucky kick, but what do I know.
Ellenburger sure has fallen on hard times.
Overall, a really lame ppv. If it wasn't for Cain getting hurt, this has Fox Sports 1 Fight Night written all over it.

Forgot to mention-
Until that kick, Hunt was fighting a smart fight.
Eventually he was going to nail Werdum & end it.
Coulda woulda shoulda.....

Decent night of fights....

Lawler the new champ...crazy
I like how people try to fight Pettis like he can only strike then get submitted. He looked a bit slow tonight, propably ring rust, and Gil was fighting the right fight but got caught.

Could've gone either way, but those middle rounds were
really hard to watch.
Wanted Hendricks but happy for Lawler, he's a class act.
Same thing happened to Hendricks in this fight as what
happened against GSP, he didn't go balls out to take the
victory in final round.
After the fight Mendez said it best, Pettis is the new breed
of fighter. The guy is a stud!
Reading the many mma websites & most if not all had Hendricks
winning the fight. Can't argue with that.

Hendricks in the post fight presser, when asked why he didn't fight with more urgency in the last round, basically admitted he was just covering up and didn't want to get caught by Robbie. He thought he already won the fight. He said the same thing after the GSP fight. What do they say about doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result? Insanity.

I think it had more to do with Gil getting up in his face, that's really the only way to fight Pettis, if you can survive his jitz. Gil trains with Sheilds and the Diaz Bros and still got subbed. That just speaks wonders to Pettis' sub game.

Also FUCK YES ROBBIE LAWLER!!! I love when any old school UFC guy gets ahead. That's why I will always root for Thompson, Barnett, Belfort, and Henderson etc.

I went to the TUF 19 Finals in Vegas this past July.
The amount of love & craziness the crowd was giving
BJ Penn was crazy. Seriously! He was like a rock star
that night. When they show the video before fighters
enter the arena, BJ was shown it was so loud you
coudn't hear the video.
Too bad his game plan sucked, and Frankie Edgar destroyed
him.

Anyone watch the Fox fights?
What lousy night of fights.

Main Event-
Jeez, if I want to watch a boxing match, I will watch boxing.

Did anyone here think Diaz had a chance? The guy came in
4 lbs overweight. Did he even train? UFC needs to cut that
guy.

Overeem/Struve fight was dumb. That's all I can say about that.

The Brazilian girl won that fight.

2 fighters losing because when they took another fighter down
they got hurt.

Thank god it wasn't a ppv.

One more fight and JDS will permanently look like the elephant man. Enjoyed the fight, but I agree it was essentially a boxing match. Cain would maul them both.

Diaz said after fight that he didn't get a full training camp in because he was hurt.
Don't know if a full camp would make a difference.

The only guy I like seeing get his ass handed to him more than Nate Diaz, is Nick Diaz.
Screw both of those guys.

My favorite moment in any Diaz fight is when they're losing and they know it, and they taunt the other guy to try to get him to do something stupid. Looks like people are finally realizing not to fall for that move.

Yeah it was.
Unfortunately it was another night of dumb fights.

Boy, whenever there is a fight card in Brazil it is always
stacked in favor of the hometown boys.

Dolloway had no business being in the ring against Machida.
Same goes with that Gagnon guy against Barao.
And Erik Silva is that great of fighter? I think not.

I understand Machida & Barao need a fight, but at least
make it competitive. Jeez!

I'm this close to not even watching live events anymore. It is getting where the majority of fights just plain suck. I think I might be better to record them, wait for some internet buzz about a great fight, and then go back and watch that one.
It would be better than sitting through that crap fest I watched last night.

The cards that take place in countries like Brazil, that are very nationalistic, are very much built to have the hometown fighters win. There was really no reason for Machida to fight Dollaway other than to fill the date. I typically avoid these cards.

Next month is when the real cards happen...
Jones vs. Cormier
Diaz vs. Silva
Weidman Vs. Belfort
Rousey vs. Zingano
Gustaffson vs. Johnson

I agree with you about machida. But Gagnon did his best, Barao didn't look great in RD1 he got tagged a few times but his chin held up well and I think if he didn't get the submission in RD3 he would have got a bit of criticism

Yeah,
I agree on Barao. Less than a year ago he was labeled the best p4p fighter (whatever that's worth) & didn't look it. Gagnon gassed big time & that submission was as easy as taking candy from a baby.

Poor Dominick Cruz. Out another year. He said he wants a fight for the belt when he returns. Sucks for the fans because he is one hell of an exciting fighter.

So,
how is the Jones/Cormier fight going to play out?

What gets me is Jones bangs on Cormier for fighting has beens
like a "50 year old" Dan Henderson.
But who has Jones fought?
The only fighter he has fought who is an up & comer was the
Swede and he had troubles there.
Everybody else on the downswing of a career.
Maybe not Machida, but Machida's style does not go well
with a Jones type fighter.
Other than that, who?

I've only gotten into MMA recently although I had watched a few fights here and there.
Wish I knew more about Jones and Cormier to pick a winner but can't wait for this fight.

If you don't have it already get UFC Fight Pass.
Everything is there & then some.
Monthly $9.99 or annual at $7.99 a month for a year.
There's a lot of times I will read that this fighter fought
this fighter, didn't know it, & watched the fight.
Or a fighter I'm not too familiar with I will do a search &
watch previous fights to get a better understanding of
him/her.
Also, great specials on individual fighters or organizations
like Pride.

REally trying to imagine how Jones Cormier fight is going to go down...

Jones tends to eat up fighters shorter than him bc he can manage the distance and keep them on the outside. The only fighter who troubled him, Gustaffson, shared his reach and was taller than him.

I think Jones really is going to try and wrestle Cormier to make a point. He has this ego thing where he wants to beat his oponents where they excel. The thing is, at least in my mind, is that Cormier has been fighting some monster heavy weights so he is used to dealing with having a shorter reach and height. Also, Cormier trains with better sparring partners than Jones has access to. I don't see anybody Jones training with on the level of Cain or Rockhold.

I want Cormeir to win, so maybe that is clouding my thought process and biasing me. Can'ts wait thought...this should be awesome.

Ultimately I think whatever fighter imposes his style will win the fight.
Yeah, training with Rockhold & especially Cain is a big advantage.
Jones has some nasty elbows though, and has no problem fighting
dirty.
Besides the main event & Cerrone fight, its a shitty card.
I think the moment will be too big for Jury and Cerrone will
win.
Can't wait!!

I think Cormier realized 3 rounds ago he couldn't beat Jones, so he just gave up and held on to him like a stuffed animal.
