I believe so.

No.
He is underused, and that's just it - everyone's number #1 complaint about the Niners is they aren't using their best weapon enough. By that very definition, he cannot be underrated.
I would vote for a couple:
DeAngelo Williams. If he continues this year he'll be underrated no longer. However, to this day, people still talk about Steve Smith and which Delhomme will show up, when Williams is the one that makes them go.
Chris Johnson - if he keeps up his pace he won't be underrated after this season. However, people STILL consider Adrian Peterson the best RB in the NFL. When Peterson can:
A - be a legit weapon in the passing game.
B - be a legit 3rd down option in passing situations.
C - stop fumbling the fucking ball.
Then maybe we can consider him the best.
However, for all of Peterson's magical plays, he sure does have a habit of doing the worst thing an RB can do. It's funny when you consider his QB has the same problem.

Gore is close, but my pick is Stephen Jackson

I wouldn't call him under rated. Under publicized maybe, just because his team is so horrible and nobody ever talks about them, but pretty much everyone knows how good that guy is. I think I agree with Juggs on DeAngelo Williams. That guy is scary good and he seems to get very little run.

I'm amazed at Jackson's ability to run hard on EVERY play know goddamn well his team won't win shit. How many years have the Rams been a punchline now? He's a pro.

Jackson has always had a lot of publicity, I used to think he was overrated but he's earned my respect.
Gore was the same as Jackson, pumped up from day one so saying he's underrated isn't really correct.
I'd go with DeAngelo Williams or Thomas Jones.

Thomas Jones is up there on the underrated list.
And since we're (I'm) talking about the JETS....
Curtis Martin is possibly the most underrated RB ever.
