Nomar Garciaparra offcially retires as a Red Sox

Nomar Garciaparra signed a minor league deal with the Red Sox today.
He then suited up, just to say his goodbyes and officially retire as a member of the Boston Red Sox.
I hate too see him go, and it's a shame that injuries derailed what looked to be sure fire "Hall Of Fame" type career.
One of the Boston sports writers nailed this sentiment with this comment.
In a Perfect World, He Coulda Been the Next Ted Williams
Even the Yankees chimed in (at least the other 2 of the big 3 shortstops that all came into the league at the same time, and were always being compared, ...Nomar, Jeter, A-Rod)
I always enjoyed playing against Boston because of Nomar," Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter said of Garciaparra, who was sometimes in the thick of the Red Sox-Yankee rivalry. "I used to enjoy being mentioned with him."
Added Alex Rodriguez: "I love Nomar. He's a great player and a friend."

Nice to see him in a Red Sox uniform, even if it was only for one day.
When I first heard about him talking retirement I was hoping the Sox would sign him and make him a bench player and see how things go.
But, I guess it was not meant to be, no more baseball for Nomar, he is starting his new job as ESPN tomorrow.
I wish him luck, he was one the greatest all around hitters to ever play the game when he was healthy.
