It was much better when there were 8 teams, and it was Friday, Saturday, Sunday thing. That Friday used to be one of my favorite days of the year. This year, with the league being as down as it is, it's hard to give a shit. :|

no, it's being shown on a local channel. i think you can watch for free at theacc.com

Dio - i know what you mean. i once worked at a place where we would close the office for business that Friday, someone would bring in a tv and we would drink and watch the games all day.

scratch what i said about not being able to rule out BC. looks like Virginia is going to take them out.

Hopefully my Blue Devils will dominate. I know conference tournaments don't mean what they used to, but I'll always love the ACC tourney. Back home in North Carolina, the teachers in high school would actually put the games on during class on that Friday. Good times.

I have to add that the addition of Florida State, Miami, Boston College and Virginia Tech has really hurt ACC hoops. I understand why it was done, but the bottom line is that ACC football still sucks, and the basketball (which is what the ACC is all about) has been watered down. :|

They did that a few years ago when they didn't make the NCAA tournament. The concern is that if they don't win the NIT that it will tarnish their image. Bunch of fags.

Go Duke!

It's an invitational tournament so their record isn't necessarily important, especially since the presumed top 65 teams go to the NCAA Tournament. I don't understand why the NIT still exists to be honest. I understand the money aspect and that they get some quality teams but at the end of the tournament, the chant "We're #66!" from the winning team's fans just doesn't sound right. Seriously, that's one hell of a big foam hand.

Of course we may have to quell our hatred of Carolina or Coach Roy Williams will have us all thrown out of this thread.

Your answered your own question.
Money is the reason
Greed is the reason.

Do you think the NCAA/NIT/University Presidents care about the athletes one bit?
Student/Athlete my ass.
More like athlete/money maker/cash cow/student

The NIT only exists to make money and the tv networks are included.

Yeah, yeah, yeah I know. It's sort of like the bowl games in college football that are played by teams with 6-8 wins. Yeah there's a lot of money to be made off of hardcore fans of those teams that go to the NIT but it just seems ridiculous. Furthermore I understand that a lot of small sport leagues will have consolation games for tournament losers but I've never cared for those either.

my late father-in-law used to say that NIT stood for "not in tournament".

Duke vs Georgia Tech. It's always nice to see a dark horse still in the race but I'm definitely still going for Duke.

i wasn't sure if i was watching basketball or hockey with that State/Tech game. didn't really have a favorite team in that one, i like them both, but i had to cringe when Gonzalez threw Favors down like that.

That's when I knew NCSU lost the game. They lost their composure and even though the game seemed to be slipping away, it was officially over at that point.
