Welcome to the NFL Colt McCoy

Colt McCoy is making the first start of his NFL career this weekend against the Steelers.

I'm thinking at least 5 sacks and probably 3 picks.

He'll be lucky to make it through the game without being injured.

Thoughts??

I wonder how Lerner is liking his decision to bring in Mangini at the expense of Pioli at this point? There is nothing to be gained by throwing McCoy in there to face Pittsburgh of all teams. If that shoulder wasn't messed up before it certainly will be now. If I was Lerner I would fire Mangini this morning and demand that whoever takes over keep McCoy on the bench.

COLT MCCOY: THIS........WAS.........YOUR............LIFE!!!!

That fucker is going to witness first-hand what it feels like to be standing in the middle of a Category 4 hurricane this Sunday. Mr. Texas is going to swallow every ounce of his own ego on that field.

if you're a gambling man, and I am...I would lay the fucking house on the Steelers -14. Even if it was 21.5, it's going to be UGLY. Colt is a dead man.

Lerner pretty much handed total control over to Holmgren. Mangini was on borrowed time when Holmgren gave him a 2nd season. Mangini and Daboll are all but done now. Jon Gruden or John Fox are coming to the North Coast. Next season.

Gruden would be the better choice. If anything he would fix the QB situation. It's pretty shitty that the team has basically been in a rebuilding mode since they got the franchise and that it looks like it still needs to be rebuilt again. There can't be more than 8-10 good players on that roster.

No one stays dead in the water forever. Made the playoffs in 2002. 10-6 in 2007. The problem with both of those season is that they were followed by disasters, injuries, and implosions the following season. Firing Romeo Crennel and immediately hiring Eric Mangini may be the worst thing Lerner ever did. Mangini won't be around long.

This. Fox was perfectly happy with Jake Delhomme for 7 years. He wants to win with defense and the run game. Not sure that works anymore. Gotta have a QB. Besides, he's just waiting for the Giants job to open up.

As far as McCoy goes, I'd be surprised if he drops back to pass more than a dozen times. Run, run, run, punt. :|

Gruden is also an Ohio boy. Played QB at UD. Is a Holmgren "guy." Can we get him away from his cushy pay check at MNF???

A loss is a loss. There are no such things as moral victories. That being said, I was pleasantly surprised with Colt McCoy. Showed poise, tenacity, and perseverance. No reason to not ride the season out with the kid.

And if you watched the game, you would've saw that one of his picks was on Benjamin Watson. Watson dropped passes as well. The game was much closer than the score indicates. Browns are a miserable 1 - 5, but they've been competitive in every damned game. That's more frustrating than getting blown out each week.

i picked the Steelers to win only because the Browns had a rookie QB

i think the Browns actually are decent

If the Browns had a real Offensive Coordinator (not to mention HC) and Colt had someone other than Peyton Hillis and Benjamin Watson to throw too, they would be dangerous.

The whole game I was sweating Colt McCoy. He looked WAY better than I thought he'd look. I bet a little more than I was confortable with, and it almost backfired.

I wish we had him in Carolina, that's for sure. He showed sack.

A lot of Browns fans were skeptical. Suggesting there was a reason no one picked him earlier in the draft. That didn't bother me, the longer he waited, the cheaper his price tag. Then if he does wind up being a bust, Holmgrens not out anything. In the preseason, he looked AWFUL. However, after yesterday, I don't think he's going to a bust. He's a little on the short side, but he seems to have the other physical tools

He had so much poise for a rookie. He wasn't afraid...Unlike Jimmy Clausen. I expect that bitch to start crying after he gets off the ground. I think McCoy will be pretty good. Finally Cleveland may have decent QB on their hands.
