Having microfracture surgery, out for 2010-2011

Just waiting for the other shoe to drop with Brandon Roy and his knee. It's over, Johnny.

Unreal. Two years in a row. Career most likely over.

It's hard to imagine there was ever an Oden vs Durant debate.

Gotta feel bad for the guy. Sadly, he's far more likely to end up like Sam Bowie than Kevin Durant.

There wasn't unless you were a GM or owner in Portland.

Bummer for him, but incredibly not surprising.

Well, that's what we get for drafting a guy that fought in Vietnam.

Seriously, poor guy. The Curse of Walton it seems still lurches on.

Hardly. I haven't seen a clearer case of one player translating to the NBA better than Durant over Oden since Grant Hill went 3rd while Glenn Robinson was number one.

Look up the 2007 NBA mock drafts, before and after Portland won the lottery. I have. They're not hard to find. Oden was the consensus #1 pick. Durant was also considered a "can't miss" pick. 1A, if you will.

Knowing that a team is going to take a player is not the same as believing they should. Find me those polls.

Brandon Roy is most likely going to be done too.

Meanwhile Durant is tearing it up.

Did ya ever think that maybe Paul Allen has no fucking idea how to run a basketball team? His hires suck ( Whitsitt ), his drafts suck. The whole team sucks.

Something about seeing the Blazers fail warms my heart.

May 7th (two weeks before the lottery):
Greg Oden occupies the top spot in five of our six mock drafts.

This doesn't give any OPINIONS. It's guesswork based on who they think the teams will take.

Durant of Oden?

Split decision

Several Bill Simmons articles that lean toward Durant deserving the number one pick.

So five out of six mock drafts (before the lottery) suggest that the first pick will be Greg Oden, no matter which team picks first. And yes, there were some who suggested that Durant should be the top pick. But to suggest that there was no debating that Durant should be the top pick? Ridiculous.

There never was a debate.

Oden was no doubt gonna be the #1 pick.

Durant was actually under the radar compared to Oden that year

THIS ^. Portland would have been under a shit storm of heat if they didn't take Oden #1. He seems like a good-hearted guy and its said to see a guy with so much potential have to go through 3 huge injuries this early in his career.

Oden IS a great guy with a gigantic penis that would have been a huge asset to this community.

Roy isnt done, but he will have to change his game and not be such a driver to the basket.

I dont mind because I am a LAKER fan, but it sad to see a team that had so much promise have
it all flushed down the drain. Most up and coming teams have a window of opportunity of a
few years, but Portland could never get out of the box. Sucks to be a Blazer fan.

Oden's career isn't done but he will have to latch on with a team as a minimum salary backup and prove he is healthy before he will ever see big bucks.
Also...regarding the Hill-Big Dog debate. Glenn wasn't a 'Jordan'. He was a scorer who needed to play Robin to an All-Around Batman....and when Ray Allen came by the Bucks almost went to the Finals. So,based on what Glenn ended up being he probably should have been the 4th or 5th pick that year. He wasn't a franchise player but he could score 23 in his sleep....problem was he gave 18 back on the other end.

But with that said Grant Hill is the single most overrated player in the last 30 years. If you go back in time and re-do you clearly take Kidd...not Hill.

Hill isnt overrated, injuries killed him. The guy has had so many surgeries that it isnt funny. Give the guy major credit for hanging in there & becoming a very good role player.
Jason Kidd is a loser & a cancer on whatever team he has been on. The only reason he hasnt been a cancer on Dallas is because he is not the #1 guy (Dirk is), he is in the twilight of his career, and Cuban isnt afraid to make big moves to try to build a winner. I could care less that he has a million assists. He plays zero defense and has never been on a winner.
In my opinion Vince Carter has been the most overrated player in the last 15 or so years.
Just my opinion. Interested in what others have to say on who is the top overrated player of the last 10 or so years.

Either Vincanity or McGrady. Hill isn't overated one iota. Crippling injuries reduced from a top five player to disappointment. Coming back from a Staph infection that nearly killed him and knowing how to be a role player on a TEAM may be some of the more important basketball he's played since he laced them up for Duke.
