Carolina is on the clock..
So who should they get..?
Take a chance on Cam..??
Go with a more safe bet on the Gabbert kid..??
Get a Defensive lineman..??
Every team in the NFL could use a good defensive lineman outside of Green Bay..

D lineman and a veteran QB...Clausen is not the answer right now...neither is Moore....otherwise Trade the pick. Forget Sham Newton.
He has the the makings of another Jamarcus.

I dont think its fair to compare cam newton to russel because he was a lazy fuck and newton does not come off like that. But he is just a taller tebow

Newton throws the ball better than Tebow. That said, I don't want Newton. Take the BPA and sign a free agent qb.

I agree on Moore & Clausen, I don't know why they didn't give Brian St. Pierre more play time seeing as how played well in the one game he started.

DL. It did wonders for the Lions D. Now they just need some decent CB's.

Brian St. Pierre is a 32 year old career backup who had only thrown 2 career passes before that game. If he's the answer, I don't want to know what the question is.

i hope the morons who make the personnel decisions draft
Sham Newton.
would enjoy to see this team not be a factor for the next few years with
their hopes resting on his shoulders.
for every sam bradford, their are many, many failures.
the #1 pick should be traded for multiple picks later in the draft-
the chances the later picks will help the team are greatly increased.

That's all well and good, but in a draft with no consensus #1, who's gonna want to trade up to the top spot? Believe me, the Panthers would love to trade the pick. But it takes two.

Well said.
IMO, picking a QB with the #1 overall pick is a very high risk.
The amount of pressure of the kid to perform will be like none other.
The amount of time the QB will take to turn into an NFL QB will test the patience of the coaching staff & fans.
Why not trade that pick, draft 2 players that will more than likely have an immediate impact on the team.

Because there's nobody worth trading up to get. I'd love to see the Lions trade up and get Peterson, but they're not going to pay that price tag of picks & money.

Trade. Panthers need like 5 or 6 players just to become decent. The top of this draft has bustville written all over it.
Cam is fools gold.
Move down to like 8/9/10 area and get an extra pick or 3.
Trade for a vet and give Clausen some more time. He stunk because that team is garbage.

I doubt the Panthers can get what the first overall pick is usually worth.
They traded their second round pick for this draft last year, so anyone who sees them trying to trade out of first knows they're over the barrel since their second pick isn't until the 65th overall.

All the gossip is that Carolina will pick Cam as the first pick in the draft..
He has been visiting with the team officials and working out for them..
They feel like they need someone who can take the heat when everything breaks down up front..which will more than likely happen every possession
Being a Panther fan..just cause I'm a Homer( live in SC) I hope they can get it together..
During their super bowl run they had back in '03, everyone says they rode their defense to the big game..
..But Jake wasn't that bad either during that run..
I hope that it is all gossip because I don't want to have to turn on the TV to FOX and watch Cam run around in the backfield for a loss of yards all year long..
Oh yeah..then there's that LOCKOUT..so you know..

It's all a smokescreen. If they can convince everyone that they're in love with Newton, maybe some QB-desperate team will be willing to trade up for the pick (ie: Cincinnati, Arizona).
