Barcelona and ManU get a UEFA CL rematch July 30th

Orlando City FC is essentially a 3rd division club, just above the player development league, and they bagged Newcastle and Bolton. Impressive work by their staff.

MLS squads keep getting more and more friendlies with the bigger clubs and leagues every summer. The level of play and depth of the league keeps growing each year and it is really fun to watch it mature from it's beginnings.

You can call it whatever you want up in America's hat.

Yeah, it seems that the EPL is all about trying to exploit the American market right now. I'm a little surprised United didn't go to the Far East this summer as they did the States last year too. Maybe it's the money on offer from the promoters. Or maybe exploiting the Far East is easier to do while not being there, whereas in America they need to be seen to get the attention.

Lucky for you, there is no shortage of single digit IQ rednecks to remind me that the biggest sport in North America couldn't come up with an original name. But thanks anyway!

When Alex Ferguson was in New Jersey at Red Bull Arena promoting the MLS v ManU All-Star game, they asked him about that and he said that the reason they are coming back to play in the US and especially the All-Star game is that the players were telling him that this is the place to train. Good teams, good facilities, milder than normal media crush and great restaurants were all positives compared to previous experiences in Asia.

That couldn't have been truthfully said just a few short years ago. Well, except the media thing. The media "crush" is growing, but still nowhere like it is in almost every other nation on the planet.
