I liked it the way it used to be when the NFL would schedule the 2 thanksgiving day games and then schedule some Saturday games once the college season was over.

I'll watch these Thursday games now that I know they've started back up but they need to do a better job of letting you know,plus their's still alot of homes that don't even get The NFL Network and on top of that,that's when the networks put on their funniest comedies.

Anybody else not a big fan of the new Thursday night games?

I hate the thursday night games because I can't watch them unless it's jets or giants. Time Warner in NYC refuses to pony up the dough.

My cable company doesn't have NFL Network either. I had Direct TV for a while and to be honest, you're not missing anything by not having NFLN. Unless watching every preseason game and watching replays of last week's game appeals to you. NFLN's Thursday Night Football coverage is amateur hour. It reminds of back in the day when TNT had Sunday Night Football. Also, I'm not pining for my cable company to pick up the NFLN b/c the games are free on radio, can easily be found on the radio, and it's an excuse to go down to the bar on the corner on Thursday night. But at the end of the day NFLN just isn't a great channel.

That wasn't a NFL game, that was a Chargers/Raiders game. That's like a minor league NFL game.

I have still never seen a UFL game. I want to watch it out of curiosity but I never think about it until someone mentions it here. I'm obviously not missing anything.

Same here I think they should have a schedule like the old USFL had play your games during the NFL's offseason.

The USFL was the last time a league had a fighting chance to survive until Donald Trump thought it was best to go head to head with the NFL.

It's just an unwritten rule that isn't meant to be broken. There isn't a player or coach on an NFL field that didn't play under the Friday night lights. There also isn't a kid playing under those Friday night lights that doesn't love watching the NFL. Those two worlds can not collide. I'm on the side lines on Friday nights. It would be sacrilege to think the NFL was playing at the same time. This is a rule that will never be broken. Some things in America are sacred.

Sometimes preseason NFL games conflict with high school games. I remember a few years ago watching a Titans @ Packers game on a Friday afternoon. The Packers asked the NFL to move the game to 3:00PM.

Still amazed that NFLN can't work out a way to get on all the cable company's rosters.

The NFLN thought people would raise a fuss and DEMAND their cable company carry the channel. The reception to the channel has been lukewarm at best though. Those that do have it, don't watch it (as proven by ratings). FCC and NFL laws allow for both teams that are on to have that came for free in their cities ( a lot of NFL fans that don't live in an NFL city are unaware of this fact). Also, if you "must" see one of the few good games they have each year, you have radio, internet, bars, and in the case of the Giants/Pats game a few years ago, NBC and CBS stepped in.
