Islanders-Vikings-Dodgers Can you beat my trifecta of shit

?

Pro sports only please. Even you soccer and rugby freaks can add your two cents.

But can anybody beat my trifecta of shit?

My favorite team, the Minnesota Vikings - Biggest chokers in pro sports now that the Red Sox have won it all. They make the Chokenucks look like 8 time cup winners they choke so bad, except now they do it in the NFC championship game instead of the Super Bowl like they used to. The 1998 championship game is still the worst day of my sports life. Not to mention the 12 men in the huddle, and Bert Favor throwing the ball for a reason only he knows, even to this day. And our most famous play is one of our best players ever running the wrong way to score 2 points for the other team. And they may move. If the Vikings were my girlfriend, she would have been gone long ago.

New York Islanders - Do I even need to say anything here? A once proud franchise and arguably the greast dynast in the history of American pro sports. They won 18 playoff series is a row with a team that boasted:

Brian Trottier -The greatest two way center in the history of the game.

Mike Bossy - Maybe the greatest pure goal scorer ever.

Billy Smith - The greatest playoff goalie ever.

Now they can't even make the playoff much less win a series. They have a puppet for a coach, a backup goalie for a gm and an owner who they wouldn't let buid a arena with his own money. This team is fucked, nobody on the island cares about them and they too may move. If this team was my girlfriend, she would be the hot girl you marry, only to see her gain 100 punds the first 2 years after you marry her.

The Los Angeles Dodgers - This is the team I'm most proud of. Multiple world series, many of the greatest players in the game, a stadium with tons of history, and the greatest color blue ever. They're also known as the team who integrated the game. I won't let a couple of crappy owners ruin this franchise. But really, they're just fucked right now too. THey can't even sign free agents right now, and have 2 of the best players in the game on their team, so here we go with another mediocre season.
If the Dodgers were my girlfriend she would be like the girl who cheated on me, but only once and felt bad enough to come clean about it.
So go ahead, and beat my trifecta of shit.

Lakers after showtime before Kobe Shaq was still fun. Van Exel era stiff fun!

Broncos, after Elway left, some tough times but still entertaining

MLB dont have a team, always liked Angels over Dodgers

Miami Dolphins- Had one of the best QB's in history and couldn't win a fucking super bowl. were always good but now really suck.

Philadelphia phillies- I wasent a fan until little league and Mike Schmidt was my hero, they seem to always suck til 93' then they sucked again until 06-07', now they're pretty damn good.

Celtics- sucked for most of my life, finally won a title in 08', probably the last I'll see til'i'm in the nursing home.

Tony Stewart, always been elite.

Cubs/Bulls/Bears

My friend turned to me and actually said, '5 more outs' on October 14, 2003.

Bozo and rainbow have a case. Well, Bozo did.

Poor John, being a Cubs fan. That might be worse than being a Vikes fan.

I can, except come playoff time. I will set Clay Bennett on fire if I ever run into him.

Bengals/Lions/Pirates

At least two of those teams are finally coming back.

San Diego Chargers - Talented underachievers for years. Better to watch than a lot of teams (until this season), and racked up the wins, but ultimately frustrating. Never won a Superbowl.

San Diego Padres - One of those teams in baseball you just know will never, ever really compete beyond the odd .510 pennant win in a shitty division. Never won a World Series.

New Zealand Black Caps (cricket) - Bless 'm, they try, but will always lack the talent to string results together consistently or win a major trophy. Never won a World Cup or been ranked #1.

So far, so shit, but thankfully...

Canterbury Crusaders (rugby) - The most successful Super Rugby Franchise. 13 times to the semis, 10 times to the finals and 7 titles... In the last 16 seasons. Played away from home all this season after the Christchurch earthquake wrecked their stadium, and still made the finals. Never been prouder of a team I support.

New Zealand All Blacks (rugby) - World Champions, winning record against every country in the world. 'nuff said.

I cried after that 1998 season. I'm shocked it still hits to the core even thinking about it today. I remember everything that day. That was our season, I still hate the Falcons.

Yankees - I know, this cancels out any bitching about my other teams.

NY Rangers - Mediocre to awful since '97. Looks like they have a good team now though. At least I will always have 1994.

NY Jets - :(

NY Knicks - :( :(

Hendrick Motorsports - Yankees of NASCAR.

^True, but the Knicks had Isiah calling the shots. That cancels out the Yankees.

If it wasn't for the Clippers owner, Jim Dolan (NYK/NYR/NY Liberty/Cablevision/Newsday) would be the worst owner in sports.

The Isiah thing is something crazy people would go and speculate about, write a screenplay about. Nah, it actually happened.

While yes it was awful, it was glorious in a car-crash kind of sense. Like the hardwood equivalent of the Matt Millen era in Detroit. He had to have dirt on someone in order to stay employed for as long as he had.

I could qualify as a Redskins/Orioles/Wizards-Bullets fan.

But the fact is I don't give a shit about basketball, and the last 15 years of the Orioles being fucking terrible has killed any interest I have in baseball.

And as bad as the Redskins are/have been for 20 years, I still remember the 80s and the 1991 team that I'd put against ANY other NFL champion. People have long forgotten how good that team was.

I remember The Posse like it was yesterday. Great teams.

He's pretty close. I mean he has zero championships there, I'd say he wins. Somebody beat me.

Even though mine are worthless now, that is so all time bad, he should kill himself.

Edited to add, forgot the D-backs got one, you still win all time.

Mine may not beat yours, but: Cubs/Broncos/Kings.

On the bright side, I never have to pay attention to the post-season!

I'm assuming LA Kings.

Seem like forever it's been "Watch out for the Kings out west this year....yadda yadda yadda"

Broncos are a decent franchise.

While Phoenix doesn't have a title, they have the highest winning percentage in basketball.

Yeah, but all time his list is worse thane mine. I'm a Sixers fan too, they have a couple titles. My team all time have 12 titles. Right now my list is worse, but all time his is putrid.

Yep, LA Kings. They sorta disappointed me this year by actually making it to the playoffs LOL

I agree about the Vikings. Being from Minnesota I feel your pain.

If you put together your list of the biggest snakebit/choke teams of all time, they would be near the top. I would not count teams that are and will be crap year after year. I mean teams that have repeatedly come close, only to find epic ways to fail. My top 5 would be:

1. Cubs
2. Eagles
3. Vikings
4. Rangers
5. Chargers

The problem is that the Vikings have always enjoyed periods of success. They have been to 4 Super Bowls, and 3 NFC Championship games since 1998. Looking at it objectively, it is amazing how they have managed to squander multiple chances.

The good news is that Minnesota has proven that it will bounce back, so we have many more disappointments to look forward to.
