Happy New Year from the Hoosiers

Yay fucking Hoosiers Yay!! I got home in time to watch the second half of IU vs. OSU today and I'm a happy man. They got Kentucky a couple weeks back and now the Buckeyes, numbers one and two when we beat them. Ohio State is not nearly as loathed as Kentucky in my house but still awesome. They could have tied it but took an unnessasary three and lost. The half I watched was a battle and the last six minutes were awesome. I went to school at Indiana, lived in Bloomington, and grew up hearing that Bobby Knight's a basketball genius. The majority of Knights era was awesome and he did have the last undefeated team. My Dad would tell me that team didn't even have to take jumpers, they had open lay ups all day running the motion offense. Nobody wanted to play Indiana back in the day. That was then though and they've sucked for years. Haven't won shit since that 2002 run they made without Knight but with his crop of players.
Even if it's just a few games and the best players don't stay another year, it's a sweet thing for now. It's nice to see my Dad charged up about beating some old rivals. Indiana has lost most of it's best players to out of state schools for years with a few exeptions. We should've had Greg Oden and Eric Gordon on the same team for at least a season but oh well. A few televised wins over ranked teams might get some talent to stay home.
I've had Butler to pull for the last few years but it's not the same. I'll still root for the Bulldogs and that Duke game even for a loss was one of the best I've seen. They'll always have some Jimmy Chitwood hayseed that's awesome but flew under the bigtime schools radar Like Gordon Hayward did. I hope if Butlers coach goes anywhere IU will land him. Shit, just stoked after a ball game. Happy New Year!!
