Patriots Cheated Their Way To Victory... Again

Looking back at the game yesterday, I couldn't understand why the Ravens were so rushed on the last play that ended up being a botched FG. It didn't make sense but I didn't think much of it. I assumed it just took the FG team long to get on the field. Now we know the correct answer.... someone fucked with the scoreboard. The only question is whether it was accidental or on purpose. Somehow, I think I know the answer to that one.

I have no personal bias, I just find it interesting that the Pats have been caught cheating before and now there are more suspicious activities going on.

No personal bias my ass. You're a Colts fan. They've been your biggest rival for years. Interesting conspiracy theory regardless. Still doesn't explain why the Ravens didn't just take a time out though.

Not really a "theory." There's video evidence that the scoreboard was incorrect and that forced the Ravens into a rushed situation. That's a fact.
And no, it doesn't explain why the Ravens didn't call a timeout. They should have. But I'm pretty confident this scoreboard "malfunction" had an affect on the final play.

The question of whether it was an oops or a purposeful act remains. Therefore, saying the Pats cheated is still theory. I'm no Pats fan either. I'm kind of leaning your direction on this one myself, but the Ravens dropped the ball. They had a timeout, AND their kicker missed a chip shot. That's on them no matter what happened with the scoreboard clock.

I agree, the Ravens should have called a time out. I said that yesterday and I still say it today. Big mistake on their part. But that wouldn't excuse the Patriots from this egregious act, if true. The Patriots have a track record of cheating and this just stinks to the high heavens.

That looks like a case of the scoreboard operator not knowing what the refs had ruled on the field and needing a little time for clarification. Either way it shouldn't matter. Harbaugh obviously knew it was 4th down and should have called a timeout with 1 second on the play clock so that there only would have been a few seconds left after the FG when they kicked off to New England. Harbaugh, Cameron, and Flacco all should have known that and yet they didn't use the timeout. It was more a case of bad clock management than anything else.

Or maybe they just "mis-interpreted" what down it really was?

torry smith's touchdown shouldn't have been allowed.
pretty blatant facemask.

I heard this "call a timeout" argument earlier today and I just don't bye it.
What if Harbaugh called the timeout and Cundiff still missed the FG.
Does that mean Harbaugh iced his own kicker?
Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

That was my thought, too ....right after the TD. It's NOT like it was a stiff-arm. He hooked his fingers around the DB's facemask in a way that completely took away the DB's ability to reach out and make a tackle before the end zone. He just DRAGGED him on in, behind him. It's even WORSE from the sideline end zone view than THIS clip:

Brady's going for another ring, while at least Peyton won more than Marino.

Brady will get revenge and score another ring for himself.
I think the 2 week gap in between games gives the Pats a HUGE advantage
1)Giants are the hottest team in the league and I believe they would benefit greatly if the game was being played this coming Sunday. Momentum is huge and IMO, all of the momentum they had going for them has come to a halt.
2)Brady and the Pats are banged up and they can use the extra week to heal up.

Lets see, Giants have a great offense and better Running game, and a bad ass defense, the pats have brady and a couple big ass tight ends and a shitty defense.
I think NY wins this easily, look how bad the Ravens D got to Brady, this Giants D is a helluva lot tougher, IMO this game will mirror the giants/packers game with NE getting clown stomped.

I think an ancient Chinese proverb addresses the situation:
"fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me"
So the Patriots, caught cheating years ago, presumably still cheat according to a handful of whiny bitches. And the rest of the league just stands around and lets it happen? Whose fault would that be again?

In an NFL where a team has a guy for everything and 100 people on the bench, not having someone keep track of downs is retarded. Harbaugh lost that game for his team by keeping that timeout and getting his kicking team set. Period. Relying on the scoreboard on the road to find your bearings is double retarded.

Agreed.
Watching that FG team get set for the kick, it looked like they were rushing things, big time.
In fact, I yelled at the TV "Call a timeout!!!"
My brother in law - big Ravens fan - said that he probably didn't call it because he didn't want to be second-guessed as "icing his own kicker."
Who the hell knows...if the Ravens had called a timeout, then surely Bill would have called a timeout himself...double ice...but who gives a shit. With the game on the line and with special teams as shitty as they are for the Ravens, the last thing you want to do is rush your kick.

Not sure if I agree with you on this.
I think fans are giving the kicking team, place kicker a laundry list of excuses for them to choose from.
I have to imagine that the kicking team practices running onto the field with no timeouts over and over again during the season and during the week.
The guy missed the kick.
He could have kicked the ball from that distance 100 times and probably made 90.
The number of critics out there who believe in "icing the kicker" were salivating at the idea that Ravens would call timeout in that situation.
The team chose against it and the Ravens are still getting criticized.
UNFAIR!

Huh?
I'm not making any excuses for anybody.
I just think the Ravens should have called a TO instead of rushing to beat the clock on that kick.
Not agreeing with P-13's stupidity...agreeing with John's post right before mine.
