Indianapolis: Best Super Bowl Host City EVER
http://www.ibj.com/the-score/2012/01/24 ... post/32142
I've been saying for quite some time that Indy is going to be a phenomenal Super Bowl host that will catch a lot of people off guard. Looks like I'm not alone in that regard.
"I'm going to say something really crazy right now," Rovell said. "Indianapolis is the best Super Bowl city I've ever seen." - Darren Rovell
Please also note, Mr. Rovell is not from Indiana. He's from New York.
The world is about to find out what a beautiful, clean, and world class city Indy truly is. Super Bowl festivities kick off on Friday with BRET MICHAELS taking the stage at the Super Bowl village!

Sometimes even fly over states get to host a Superbowl.

You can't drink on the street. Your bars close at 2. It's cold outside.
Explain to me why your city is better at hosting a party?

I'm in Indy right now. Was worried about jamming that many people into such a small space, but they're organized as shit right now. Having the world's biggest auto race every year teaches you a thing or two about logistics I guess.HMJ wrote:You can't drink on the street. Your bars close at 2. It's cold outside.

When you have a race that draws over 300,000 people every year, you certainly learn a lot about logistics, organization, crowd control, and those kinds of things. Indy does a nice job with that massive crowd year in and year out and that's no easy task. No other city in the world has to deal with that kind of crowd from one single event every year.johnk5150 wrote:I'm in Indy right now. The city has been planning and they are more than ready. It's not going to be a debacle like last year's Super Bowl. I plan on visiting the Super Bowl village and the NFL fan experience, so I am looking forward to that.

Coming from one of the best on here, I'll take that as a compliment, Greg...
Being a fan of the Colts does not make you a resident of Indy, nor does it make it "your city."
If you go, will you ask Bert for a lap photo for old times sake?

I'd wager that you don't smell sewage when you walk down the street at 5am. Other than that, I can't see a small Midwest town hanging with the Big Easy.HMJ wrote:You can't drink on the street. Your bars close at 2. It's cold outside.

That's only Bourbon. The whole city has 24hr bars and drinking on the street AND smells nicer. In fact the best part about that is you can hit up any city park with a couple cases of beer and throw a football around. I wish I could do that in other cities.bane wrote:I'd wager that you don't smell sewage when you walk down the street at 5am. I can also throw in some other arguments...like NOLA's food vs. Indy. Or fucking drive-thru daquiris. Cheap as fuck living. And so on....

You don't have to argue it with me. Im sure Indy is a nice town, but the only city in the country that may be able to hang with NOLA for a big ass party is Vegas.HMJ wrote:That's only Bourbon. I like Indy. Friendly town. Very clean. Easy to navigate. Good weekend getaway from where I live. However, P13 is nuts. Indianapolis is also more manila than Columbus and that is hard to imagine, but it's true.

Vegas made a proposition to build a huge stadium with something like 150,000 seats with a conference center and host the Superbowl every year. No way a league that won't let it's players buy lottery tickets is going to put a stadium in Vegas.bane wrote: You don't have to argue it with me. The NFL is far and away the most well run league of the big four, but they really lack seeds. I'd say the NBA will be in Vegas eventually though.SkyDog112046 wrote:Vegas made a proposition to build a huge stadium with something like 150,000 seats with a conference center and host the Superbowl every year.
