NFL Pro Bowl today

Post by joey64 »

those guys are really taking it easy out there, hardly blocking or hitting, you think the game is fixed? now that it's played the week before the SuperBowl, I call it the Consolation Bowl or the Loser Bowl, should they move it back to the weekend AFTER the SuperBowl? what do you think

You're a toolbag. "I call it the Consolation Bowl or the Loser Bowl." Get a grip, freak.

The ante needs to be upped. Winning conference gets homefield for the Superbowl.

In a word, yes. None of the players in the Super Bowl are even there. That's the worst sports idea since the designated hitter.

Ha, the MLB fucked up with that one. I assume you're just referencing that and not actually suggesting the NFL do the same.

I had some of it on in the background, not terribly exciting. Apparently Brandon Marshall just scored his 4th TD. Wonder if he and Revis had a nice moment on the sideline.

When I was a kid, it was cool to see all the different helmets together. Then about a minute later I would realize it sucked. Nothing's changed.

Yeah, it's pretty weak, should get rid of it.

OR, just as a stupid alternative, let people only vote after the season has finished completely. Then have the Pro bowl as maybe the hall of fame game or something. Maybe have it rotate in cold weather cities in summer or something. It's worthless as it is.

The only reason this thing still exists is because players get bonuses for making it. Once they earn their bonus they claim an injury so they don't have to play. Between that and the Superbowl there is a sizable amount of players missing the game. Football doesn't really lend itself to being a pick-up sport so they can't use much in the way of schemes. Players don't want to get injured or injure someone else in a meaningless game so there isn't a lot of hard hitting and tackling. And of course there is that part about the game being meaningless.

They should just scrap the whole thing and just vote players as being All-Stars to reward the best players and earn them their bonuses. And if they decide to do anything they could just have a skills competition. That might be interesting to see who is the fastest, strongest, most accurate passer, quickest through an obstacle course, etc.. As it is right now this game is unwatchable.

This game has evolved to the point where the Pro Bowl needs to
be cancelled forever.
There is no reason or reward for sending these players to Hawaii for
a week.
The players can now afford to take their families on vacation with their
NFL salary.

Just a sign of the times.
This game needs to cease to exist.

I don't understand all the hate for the pro bowl. Yeah it's not a real game, and yeah nobody watches it and nobody cares about it, but why do so many of you think it should be done away with? If you don't like it, dont watch it. Simple. I dont think I've ever watched a probowl game, but I don't begrudge the players the honor of being selected. It's probably a really big deal to the guys that get picked who've never been there before. It gets them the chance to hobnob with some of the games stars in paradise and apparently Hawaii has no problem with the game.

It's because people WANT to care about the game. But with the way it is now they can't. I consider myself a football junkie. I'll watch pretty much any game I can during the season. I can watch hours of the NFL films stuff from the 50's & 60's. I"ll watch preseason games. I'll even watch footage of players running routes and hitting tackling dummies in training camp. I watch the draft. Hell, I do my own mock draft. But yet I can't watch the Pro Bowl. Lot's of people feel the same way as I do. The NFL get's most things right. Except this game. They need to fix it.

I don't think it can be fixed. It's a meaningless exhibition, just like any other pro all star game. The violent nature of the sport lends itself to being even more dumbed down than it is in the other sports in order to avoid injury, but I don't see a skills competition being any more entertaining than the pro bowl is. Mandating some sort of importance like they've done in MLB would be retarded. People should just accept it for what it is. I could see moving the game to a time that might get players from the Super Bowl teams involved, but otherwise, I don't see what they can do.

That catch by Marshall while on his back after it bounced off 2 guys and his leg was pretty awesome.

I had two entertainment choices- watch the pro bowl or listen to a bunch of 90 second Van Halen clips over and over.

I went with the clips.

Have an award show and a NFL Skills type competition and call it a day. The game itself is bullshit and everyone knows it, nobody wants to get hurt.

The "pass rush" was comical.

they did kick it up a notch after halftime, the one NFC QB from the Panthers (silver helmet??) really sucked, & that WR from Miami Marshall that made 6 catches for 4 TDs was pretty insane, got the MVP award, gave the prize, a GM SUV, to his Mom, seemed like a cool guy, but yeah, none of the SuperBowl players are in it so seemed like the Consolation Bowl to me, anyway there was nothing much else better on TV at that time, & it was interesting to see Ray Lewis acting sort of like a human being instead of like a lunatic for once, he must take 20 hits of speed before a Ravens game
