Off to see men's football and boxing this weekend. Anyone going to be following London 2012? I shall be glued to the TV for a fortnight, though not using as much glue as last time as Blanka Vlasic is not competing.

Anyone have a good link for online viewing?
(yeah, I know NBC is streaming, but I think you have to have a cable subscription)

Thanks!

I don't really care about the Olympics, but I occasionally enjoy some women's football. Just watched USA beat Columbia. I was shocked to see they're missing Ali Krieger. Without her, their defense is seriously lacking in the looks department. That could become a real problem against Sweden, for instance.

Watch it here and there when I can, watching U.S. Womens Volleyball ATM.
Always watch Womens Gymnastics and have since 1980. Amazing what they can do.
Plus, the Captain is a local girl.

During the 1980 moscow olympics the australian network covering the games used this song and being the first olympics I remember here it is as a tribute to the games

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GinV3-S4lz4

Moscow, Queen of the Russian land.
Built like a rock to stand.
Proud and divine.
Moscow, your golden towers glow,
Even through ice and snow.
Sparkling, they shine.

And every night, night, night there is music
Oh every night, night, night there is love,
And every night, night, night there is laughter.
Here's to you, brother, hey, brother ho.

Hey, hey, hey
Moscow, Moscow,
Throw your glasses at the wall,
Fame and fortune to us all, ho, ho, ho, hey
Moscow, Moscow, join us for a casatchok.
We'll be dancing 'round the clock ha, ha, ha hey
Moscow, Moscow
Drinking vodka all night long,
Keeps you happy, makes you strong ho, ho, ho hey.
Moscow, Moscow,
Come and have a drink again,
You will never leave again. Ha, Ha, Ha

Moscow
City of Mystery,
So full of history
Noble and old.

Mo-Mo-Mo-Mo-Mo-Mo-Mo-Moscow, there is a burning fire,
That never will expire.
Deep in your soul.

And every night, night, night there is music
Oh every night, night, night there is love,
And every night, night, night there is laughter.
Here's to you, sister, hey, sister ho.

Hey, hey, hey
Moscow, Moscow,
Throw your glasses at the wall,
And good fortune to us all, ho, ho, ho, hey
Moscow, Moscow, join us for a casatchok,
We'll be dancing round the clock, ha, ha, ha, hey
Moscow,
La, la, la, la, la, la, la ho
Moscow,
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, hey

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Moscow, Moscow
Moscow, Moscow
Take Natasha in your arms,
You'll be dazzled by her charms. Hey
Moscow, Moscow
She will make you understand,
Russia is a wondrous land, Ah, ha, ha, ha

Moscow, Moscow

And every night, night, night there is music
Oh every night, night, night there is love,
And every night, night, night there is laughter.
Here's to you brother hey brother ho.

Hey, hey, hey
Moscow, Moscow,
Throw your glasses at the wall,
And good fortune to us all, ho, ho, ho, hey
Moscow, Moscow, join us for a casatchok.
We'll be dancing 'round the clock ha, ha, ha hey
Moscow, Moscow
Drinking vodka all night long,
Keeps you happy, makes you strong ho, ho, ho hey.
Moscow, Moscow,
Come and have a drink again,
You will never leave again. Ha, Ha, Ha Hey!

Wake me up when the only part of the Olympics that REALLY matters, begins.

Track and field.

Ya fag, you should watch woman's tennis. Wheres your patriotism? Julia Goerges is totally kicking some polish bitch ass rigth now. The judges just gave her a bunch of points for some of her poses, like 15 or something.

WOW they gave her 15 more points! THAT'S INSANE!
She's blitzkrieging the fuck outta that polish biotch, while London just sits and watches!

Edit:

No surprise here, her opponent was a total butter face.

You Yanks are getting screwed over by NBC. Canada has 4 networks carrying live coverage of events, and NBC is showing everything tape delayed. Brutal.

Did you see Michael Phelps try to explain or talk about his 4th place finish?
The guy couldnt do it.
Yeah, NBC is f'n over the US. Show the stuff live! Regardless of its 9 in the morning or midnight.
And if its an amazing event they can always show it again to the prime time audience.

Following judo (which I went to watch in person), cycling and track athletics in great detail, though keeping an eye on about half a dozen other sports, particularly kayaking and rowing.

Not sure what cable or satellite you have. But all of the NBC stations have live coverage. MSNBC, CNBC, Bravo, NBCSP(versus) I just found one channel that is all soccer and another that is all basketball. I will agree we are getting douched on the live swimming and gymnastic. I dont see why they just dont do what you suggested and just replay the "popular" events in prime time.
I want to see all Track and Field events ALL of them! Not what NBC thinks I want to see.

Sure would be nice.

It's NBC, though ... won't get that from the regular cable network broadcasts. I'm not signing up for their online bullshit "select" channels, either.

They're also the only network in my area that has DRM flags.

A good 2 or 3 BBC channels are showing coverage from 0900 to 2100 every day, with additional 'optional' coverage for the later events (boxing and volleyball at 2300 tonight, for example) on their 'interactive' services.

The Opening Ceremony was pretty awesome but I can see how foreigners probably didn't understand half of it. It had a lot of features that were maybe a little 'too' British. It was interesting to see Danny Boyle's left-wing political outburst to all the right-wing politicians present, however. Maybe his 25 minute 'rant' on the NHS could have been shortened though...

I personally approached the events with a very negative opinion because I applied for tickets and, like millions others, was rejected, but in hindsight it's great to watch on TV and the whole nation seems pretty patriotic right now, which is rare over here.

Olympics are always 100% better when not in USA, thats the fun of it. Seeing the rest of the world.

London is doing great, 2016 will rule. Best city I've never been too!

how crazy is it to see 30,000 at a rowing event

I tend to only watch the sports I participate in because I can relate to them more. So that means cycling and mountain biking and kayaking will be the only ones I watch. Oh, and I will watch anything involving smoking hot ladies, like beach volleyball!! Otherwise, I just don't get that into it.

Well, the boxing was good sport, the highlight being an amazingly exciting clash between middleweights from USA and Armenia. The Armenian was winning on points until the American scored two knock downs, both in the last 15 seconds of the bout.

Football was also excellent, especially the first half of Senegal vs Uruguay. Senegal go a man down and score two. Uruguay hit the post and have two efforts cleared off the line but Senegal kept coming back with some lightning counter attacking and outrageous skill.

The organisation at both events was surprisingly good, plus getting around proved easy. The only hassle came when leaving London - had to spend the entire trip back to Brighton nestled in the armpit of a fat Greek guy. Fuck Greece, it's economy, fat people and finessing of homosexuality.

I prefer bull dykes in shorts kicking balls.

Speaking of which, those heartless commie gook bitches would just not let Alex Morgan score today. How the hell is she supposed to pull a Brandi Chastain if they don't let her put the ball in the goal? It makes zero fucking sense.

Makes even less sense that they let that Wambach dude score, if I was interested in seeing some hard rock pecs I'd just watch Mr Olympia or something. KennyFucker was warning me about their pink agenda the whole time, I wish I had listened to him.

Thank god Wambach didn't fall for it and kept that nasty shit of hers in the private sector.

Sounds a bit odd, create rules that mean you gain an advantage by playing badly, then disqualify the teams who try to take advantage.
